  1. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians...
  2. because many of the batters show bad splits?
  3. according to the la times we went from a 40 million payroll in '05 to a 28 million payroll in '06 and that's why we could afford to pay suppan?
  4. Vargas did pretty well today... it was some lousy plays on defense that gave the cubs runs.
  5. i take it Ben H didn't do so hot today? he's actually done pretty decent so far this spring other than today if he didn't do well. oops, i'm supposed to vent... er... I hate being un(der)employed!
  6. *crossing my fingers* my audio has been working a-ok all spring, so if anyone wants a little more commentary than the box score, come to chat. Sorry, i'm not putting together a continual updated PBP in the thread. I'm a lazy guy ^^
  7. if it's asking for a username and password, have any of you tried using login info from the brewers forum?
  8. it's been working for me. fyi estrada HRed as a righty just a min ago.
  9. Ned seems to have either a) done well getting his relievers matched up, or b) gotten exceptionally lucky, depending on your point of view, so far this game. (8th inning in particular)
  10. It sounds like you guys are in a tough league. Maybe next year I'll be rich and able to afford to drive 4 hours round trip to play. (but I doubt it). In the league I play in, I do have a career 1.600ish OPS ~.^ (It is an easier league though i'm pretty sure.)
  11. Dear Mr. Brian Sir High Potentate Automator Sir, Where did you find that lineup? And it appears that this game will not be broadcast, though the 9:05 game vs. Japan will be.
  12. I'm looking for lineups. Starting Ps: Dana Eveland vs. Russ Ortiz
  13. sorry russ, i should've been more explicit. He was going on about the mariners pitcher having the eye of the tiger, iirc.

  17. The Brewers the last few years have actually fared decently in the role of 'spoiler' the last couple years haven't they?
  18. well, maybe if the cardinals fall asleep, we might have a chance, wouldn't that be sweet? But, if by chance, the brewers play like sheep, take a walk, please don't weep.
  19. My take on this is that, as a pitcher, if you make the batter put the ball in play, you at least have a chance for an out. Now the results AFTER that batter may be the same no matter how he gets on, but, if you keep from walking him, you most likely have a 70% chance or so of getting him out then. So, it's either the BB guarranteeing the batter the base, or, against a .300 type hitter making them swing, only a 30% chance at 1b. (of course, then you run into the other possibilities of giving up more than just 1b too... but, i'd want to go for outs with the risk of giving up a bigger hit)(of course, most pitchers don't just walk leadoff batters for giggles either)
  20. well, the faster you can 'race' the higher your range factor 'ought' to be :D, other than that i don't see how it affects anything at all
  21. What is WITH these guys losing their bats???
  22. It's unreasonable to "want" a team to score 6+ runs a game. I give fans more credit than that. Actually, it would be unreasonable to 'expect' even the cardinals to score a lot of runs every game. But, i sure as heck 'want' the brewers to score a lot every night. I just know its not gonna happen, hehe.
  23. I think when people say they want a consistent offense, they don't mean that they want their offense to score the same amount of runs every game. I think they mean they want their offense to score A LOT of runs EVERY game.
  24. I read most game threads after i get home from work, so i know what happened in the game (since it is usually too busy for me to listen). It is nice when the big innings are described a bit more. Though i do agree that we don't need every 5-3 groundout or whatever posted. Think of us poor people who have icky jobs that make it so that they can't see or listen to more than 2 games a week http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif (this is in reply to the discussion on page 5)
  25. Is DD striking out more people this year? It seems like he is. Along with his walks, i'm starting to think he might be a 3TO pitcher... But hey, GOOD JOB this inning!
