  1. Maybe the team is growing on him. Or maybe the nervousness is leaving as well.
  2. But I don't think the tux thing will work, her dress is pink, so my vest is pink and my tie is pink, and I'm not going to meet William in that Just say it's to commemorate his Mother's Day pink-bat walkoff. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. I've discussed this with umpires, and they point out adamently that there is no such thing as a tie. Either someone is safe or out. And in that scenario, they're safe.
  4. The Brewers have been on the short end of two plays where the tie is supposed to go to the runner already this series.
  5. Too bad Lane walked there, considering Turnbow struck him out twice during the AB.
  6. Well, at least now Ned almost HAS to use T-Bow and Cordero to ice this.
  7. Now THIS would have been a good game to get Aquino a rebound outing after his problem earlier in the week, not in the 9th of a 2-2 game.
  8. When did Brad Ausmus stop caring about defense?
  9. A lot of people may have been wrong about this Hardy guy.....
  10. Good thing Ausmus and Rodriguez don't particularly care about baserunners. Two uncontested SB's, one of them from DAMIAN MILLER? Yeck.
  11. I don't chime in a lot to this thread, as I'm usually about a year behind the theatrical/DVD releases because of time constraints and such, but I wanted to chime in on a few movies I've caught recently that didn't get a lot of play in this thread: 16 Blocks This movie seems to have flown under everybody's radar, and I enjoyed it. Not much of a plot or at least not a well-developed one, but in a chase-type movie, that's generally unnecessary. Probably worth a look if you've missed it like a lot of people have. United 93 This movie was so amazingly done, it's a real shame it wasn't further recognized last year. The use of no major actors was quite effective, as the viewer sees the people involved as just ordinary people, instead of ie Nicholas Cage playing a police man in the other movie about the events. In fact, many of the airline people in the film were actually airline people in real life, not actors. The film was a bit choppy and frantic, but I think that was intentional by the production team to try and convey the chaos and franticness of the events and what was happening behind the scenes. A thoroughly emotional film, and I found myself on the edge of my seat rooting for the passengers as they made their frantic dash for the cockpit and almost desperately hoping they'd make it and save the plane, despite knowing full well what the outcome was going to be. Kind of eerie for me, as I was about 20-30 miles away from the 93 crash site like 10 days after the tragedy. And also saw Capote this week. I found myself enjoying this movie quite a bit for the first hour or so and thought it was quite interesting. But after the inmates moved to death row, it took a very dark turn and really turned into a chilling movie. I thought the last 45 minutes or so dragged on and on, and at one point it really felt like you wanted to just smack Truman upside the head because of the way he was behaving. After seeing the film, I'm very understanding of why Hoffman won the Oscar, as his performance was fantastic, but the film really left something to be desired in the 2nd half.
  12. I agree that he did everything right in the bottom of the 9th. He seems to handle the bench well, doesn't overwork his starters and seems to pull them at the right time consistently, but man alive, he doesn't have a clue when it comes to the bullpen. I don't know if he manages with his gut (probably), but we're past the point where that's acceptable. We're supposed to be good now. And Maddux isn't exempted from blame on that either.
  13. I don't get why: 1) Aquino didn't start the inning himself or 2)Why Wise got pulled after a bunt single on 2 pitches in the inning, or 3) Why Cordero wasn't brought in instead of Aquino if they were determined to make a change, or 4) Why Aquino wasn't pulled after he clearly didn't have it again and loaded the bases.
  14. I can't believe that ball got out.... that looked like a medium-deep pop out.
  15. The pitching moves tonight (and the lack thereof later in the 9th) were absolutely absurd.
  16. That was a very, very dumb play by Estrada.
  17. Mench was very safe on that play at first.
  18. Wow, we might be on pace for our first sub-10 page IGT for an evening game on the year. Must be lots of people getting their Cooper bobbles tonight.
  19. We're lucky Bill didn't spike himself on that play.
  20. Wow, how does Billy manage an error on THAT? Move him to 3rd already.
  21. I saw Pirates in the thread title and shuddered. Very little good usually comes out of our series' with them.
  22. And Aquino has done nothing at the major league level. His nice ERA last year is a mirage. And 2004 was what?
  23. I've been so busy lately I haven't gotten to see many of the games on TV, but finally when I do, they let the game get totally out of hand. That's a great point. Everytime FSN has the damn Bucks on, the Brewers end up winning, but when I can actually watch them on TV, they get destroyed.
  24. Turnbow has pitched once in the last 5 days, why couldnt he work 1.1? For that to happen, you'd have to have double switched out Weeks, Hardy, Hall, or Prince.
  25. The Brewers were "beyond" letting a pitcher like De La Rosa struggle and learn on the job, but we're all good with Hall looking like freakin' Scotty Smalls the first time he puts on a glove and takes the field in The Sandlot. I agree with this completely. We're in a position to make a run and shouldn't be in the 'let guys learn on the job' phase, no matter who they are. Hall to 3B, Gross to CF. The only way that shouldn't happen is a Braun call up.
