  1. I think it’s only fitting that Jordan Love is the next host of Jeopardy.
  2. I really think Ken is wrong on that. He’s using the cut number, not the trade.
  3. I love how there's almost no accountability here. Bill Michels literally sent out a tweet claiming to have offer details of an offer made by SF. It was immediately shot down by multiple outlets, yet he just quietly keeps retweeting stuff this afternoon. Insanity.
  4. So one of those things has to give. You can't claim 'they don't want me,' then when they offer you an extension to keep you, you can't keep saying 'they don't want me'.
  5. I'm impressed that you've found a way to see Jordan Love at all!
  6. They can’t acquire Jimmy G. Between his salary and Rodgers’ dead cap hit, they’d be way over the cap with very little recourse for getting under. Do-able, but it would require a serious restructure.
  7. 99% Sure the exact same line was said by fans 13 years ago, and here we are. ESPN is reporting that the Packers have offered to extend Rodgers' contract. This stuff does not compute. Either that's not true, or Rodgers wants out and is falsely claiming 'lack of commitment'.
  8. Whoops- yep. So #3, 2nd the next three years, and 24's first?
  9. I believe that was Murphy, but I also believe that was 'reported' in that horrendous BR article that basically got retracted.
  10. Would you do #3 + and their 2023/24 firsts?
  11. I mean, they may if the return is high enough tonight. I do agree on the timing of this, though- helps the org save face if they flip Love tonight. Really does make me wonder if a Love trade and a Rodgers extension/restructure are imminent.
  12. They'd save about $5.6 million this year (trade is slightly different than cut in his case). But as noted, much, much less after 2021.
  13. Yeah, it's kind of an odd off season for him to grumble like this. Last year? Sure. But, the Packers are strapped for cash and were never going to sign big WRs to massive deals. Yet, they still found a way to retain two of their key offensive weapons. I'm sure he wants to win another SB, and so does everyone else. I just don't think that he's going to find a better situation/chance to do so elsewhere in the 2021 season.
  14. #3 would be a nice starting point for return, no?
  15. Reportss that the 49ers have inquired on Rodgers, as recently as yesterday.
  16. So very right. I think it's also reasonable to note that they're still, in many cases, holding a situation like Watt against Gute even though he wasn't in charge back then. I have no idea regarding how Gute felt about Watt vs. King, etc., or how much Thompson's declining health may have impacted his decision making, but Gute wasn't in charge. All he's done thus far in his tenure in charge is draft impact players with almost all of their top picks.
  17. I think people get into the MLB draft now. It's a bigger thing than say 10 years ago. But to your point, not nearly the hype of the NFL draft. There are just so many casual fans that think they can evaluate talent. Heck, there are analysts that get paid to be on TV/radio that think they can evaluate talent and really don't have a clue. Most headlines leading up to the draft and after the draft are ones to get clicks. It's become rather annoying to me. I actually avoid much of it now and I used to love to tune into the draft. It's the nonsense of online mock drafts. Anyone and their brother can post them, whether they have any team sources or not (usually not). It gives people a false sense of what teams are thinking, and how players are ranked. Every year, we see examples of guys expected to go way earlier than they do (cough, Zack Baun), then they fall because teams are worried about something we as fans (and the mocksters) never knew about. Then, when teams make valid picks based on solid talent evaluation like Elgton Jenkins, fans think it was a bad pick because they've never heard of him and random 'talent evaluators' had a 4th round grade on him. Two years later, he's an All-Pro. Did the Packers get lucky? No, it was quality evaluation of the prospect due to resources they have that the fans have zero clue about.
  18. Yep on all accounts. The fans who don't see the big picture with the 2020 draft are mostly the same ones that were still complaining about the Gary pick early last season, complained about trading up to get Savage, and who had never even heard of Jenkins prior to his selection. All Gute has done is prove them wrong, yet they still think they get the draft better than he does for some reason. At some point, you'd think Gute would get the benefit of the doubt.
  19. As noted in another thread,
  20. Yes, I'm sure that's accurate as well. Doesn't change the point I've been making all along.
  21. Not an issue about phrasing, it's an issue of claiming I'm saying something I'm not. You're saying 'Because you said X, you must also mean Y'. I didn't- I only said X. Once again to summarize what I'm actually claiming, -The Brewers built a team focused on good pitching and good defense. They aren't scoring 6-7 runs a game because they weren't designed to do so on a night-in, night-out basis. -Though many of the bats are underperforming, many of them have still added value to the team with positive defensive performances. In a lot of ways, this was probably part of the risk mitigation thought process when signing the guys they did. The offensive side is likely to revert positively to the norm, and defense is unlikely to vary to the negative. -The record reflects this, and is less fluky than you might think at first glance. That's it.
  22. JBJ has basically been an average-ish bat over the past 5 seasons of his career, while playing very good defense. If you thought that he was signed primarily for his offensive value, I'd argue that your assumption was statistically unreasonable.
  23. But unfortunately, you're still making your own interpretations, with incorrect conclusions. To summarize my actual point: - 'The team was built on pitching and defense' seems an accurate conclusion of what happened this offseason. - 'Build on pitching and defense' doesn't mean that offense doesn't matter. - 'Not complaining about the offense' is equal parts because it's too early (small sample) to draw any actual conclusions about anything, players can be expected to perform closer to their career norms as time goes by, and that their contribution to the team is still significant because of their huge defensive value, which aids in what the team's goal was for the year. I think the bigger issue is that at numerous points in the thread, people have cited the money spent on these players and said that the investment shows that the Brewers prioritized offense when those players were more likely targeted for their defensive prowess. People seem to be missing the mark regarding intent there, hence the point made above.
  24. No, I am not. That's your interpretation, not what I said or intended to say.
