  1. Nothing like listening to Brewers baseball during a snow storm. I can't wait.
  2. Gwynn would be a perfect fit for the Marlins, but I don't think pitching depth is a huge concern for the Brewers with the addition of Suppan. We already have one of the top rotations in the NL along with Villanueva, Gallardo, and Jackson in AAA. We may have a lot of outfield depth, but we don't have a lot of depth in CF. Hall looks to be our CF this season, but he doesn't have a lot of experience there. Hart and Gross can play center, but both are better fit for corner outfield spots. Gwynn is by far the best defensive center fielder we have and has been improving offensively. I'd like to have him around in case of injury or if Billy can't handle center.
  3. When the inevitable happens and one of our middle infielders gets hurt, I'd rather see Hall back in the infield and Gwynn in center than Graffy or Counsell starting.
  4. Lets just hope the curse against the Brewers pitching staff is lifted this year. If Dickey finds his way on to the Brewers roster, he appears to be the gritty veteran type that Ned would entrust with a small lead late in the game.
  5. 7 million is actually quite a deal for that kind of production these days. I could see Jenkins being traded to free up playing time for Gabe Gross but not because he's making too much money.
  6. Our outfield is a mess and Melvin is still going after starting pitching, yay.
  7. I'd go with John Vanden Berg and Chad Kopitzke
  8. Plan B A rotation of Sheets, Capuano, Bush, Vargas, and Villaneva looks just fine to me. We have Jackson and Gallardo waiting in AAA, and the money we'd save by not signing Suppan could be used to take on some salary in a trade or sign an impact player next offseason. Carlos Villanueva did great in 50 major league innings and continued to dominate when sent to AAA. He deserves a spot in the Brewers rotation, and I don't see why we'd sign someone to potentially block him. Vargas's numbers may not look great at first, but when you look at his numbers away from the launching pad in Arizona you get a better look at what kind of pitcher he is. He may not be as durable as Suppan, but the upgrade there is not worth 10 million a year. People act like we have major holes in the rotation, but I think we should be more worried about the bullpen and our offense. Our outfield situation still hasn't been fixed and the bullpen is full of question marks.
  9. I do think Suppan would add some good depth but I don't think that added depth is worth 10+ million a year. It may be a short sample size, but Villanueva came up and showed he has the stuff to pitch in the majors. Signing someone to block a guy with upside and who's had early success in the majors doesn't make a lot of sense.
  10. I don't really see the point of going after Suppan. Carlos Villanueva can probably do as well or better than Suppan at a fraction of the price. I know everyone's itching for the Brewers to make some noise, but I'd rather save the money so they sign someone in the future who's actually good or take on some salary in a trade.
  11. This deal may have made sense a few weeks ago, but now with our wealth of mediocre middle infielders I don't see the point. My only hope is that he is a part of a larger deal. Barmes would be a good buy low candidate. He's not all that young, but he was having a great rookie year before the unfortunate venison accident. Last year his numbers were bad, but he did hit lefties pretty well. If he can play center, he could platoon with Gross......but so could Brady Clark.
  12. We'd have the best rotation in the league. But we wouldn't score...ever.
  13. The thing is that only Hardy and Miller have really bad splits against righties. We'd still have Koskie, Gross, and Jenkins to plug in there as well.
  14. I'd personally love to see that scenario happen. It looks like a pretty good lineup. A guy with a career .363 obp would look nice in our 2 hole. Loretta is still my favorite player though, so I'm probably a little biased.
  15. I'd rather pursue Patterson than sign someone like Roberts or Lofton. He may have a poor .obp but he'd provide some speed and power near the bottom of the order. The problem is that we have no one to platoon with him, but we'd have the same problem with Lofton and Roberts as far as that goes.
  16. The problem is that Tampa Bay will demand an insane amount of talent in return for Baldelli or Crawford. It would be nice to have one of them, but we'd probably have to send them Cappy and Yo.
  17. Schmidt- 15 mil SEA Zito- 17 mil NYY Lilly- 8 mil CHC Mulder- 7 mil TB Molina- 4 mil SD Roberts- 5 mil TEX Soriano- 18 mil LAA Pierre- 8 mil CHC Nomar- 10 mil BOS Lugo- 10 mil NYM Drew- 13 mil MIL Huff- 8 mil PHI Suppan- 8 mil NYY Meche- 7 mil STL C. Lee- 17 mil HOU
  18. prince of roy must have realized he's never going to catch up to rluzinski no matter how often he posts and has admitted defeat
  19. Had to get thsi back. I vote for Busch.
  20. Solid pitching, clutch hitting. No ones going to stop them.
  21. Russell the Muscle with a two run triple. Trying to keep the Pads alive.
  22. "Dwight, want an M&M?" "No, I'm stuffed" It's the simple lines that are so funny.
  23. I hate the Yankees...
  24. Sheets is really pounding the strike zone today. Pujols was out at second.
  25. If Gywnn has sucked in the majors so far, there probably isn't a word to describe how bad Hardy was when he first came up.
