  1. I think the Wii has some serious enjoyment to the play. After a few rounds, it's remarkably easy to find a receiver and throw. If you need to zip it in, you make a quick movement. Need arc: well, throw it with arc. Where the Wii really succeeds though is in the running game. You can juke by just shaking the controller and pound it by pushing ahead. Actually, quite fun. Catching is a little strange though. The franchise mode finally has Free Agency before the Draft and has more 'player managment' than in years past. However, there haven't been significant changes here. The only thing of note is being able to play the college all-star game and working out specific players. You can still assemble dream-team coaching staffs right away and make silly trades. They've tried to change that a bit with star player values, but it's still a bit too easy. Needless to say though, I'll have my fair share of time with the mode.... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. That's a novel approach PITCH. I usually pick up a copy every two years and just update the rosters somewhat manually. I do enjoy many of the gameplay enhancements though -- and I'm a franchise player.
  3. I've heard great things about this years version. It sounds like they finally made a real 'next gen' of the game for the new systems. Can't wait, my wife just said she picked me up a copy -- that's love.
  4. Exactly. Nonsense, I think Dougie would be willing to suffer any public embarrassment that a photo could bear -- it wouldn't come close to what he would suffer should he trade Braun.
  5. I don't get why people like Spotted Cow. It is flavorless for a wit beer. Way to mellow for what I look in this beer. The Chubby Marmot aka Fat Squirrel is not to bad though. Spotted cow is not a witbier. It is a blonde ale. Fat Squirrel and Uff Da are also good options. If you want my all-time favorite beers, try La Fin Du Monde and Tres Pistoles from Unibroue.
  6. I don't get why people like Spotted Cow. It is flavorless for a wit beer. Ding! ding! ding! ding! ding! By and large people don't actually like the taste of most beers. Spotted Cow is rather sweet and goes down easy. I find it disgusting myself, but then I liked it way in the past before my pallet was sophisticated. People like Spotted Cow for the same reason Bud and Miller Light are the USA's most popular beers. Wrong. I don't like Spotted Cow because it lacks flavor - I like it because of the complexity and balance of it's flavor. It is a beer that can fit into almost every meal and is reliable and tasty. It is rather presumtious to assume anyone who likes popular beers does not have a 'sophisticated' pallet. Being a contrarion does not a connoisseur make. If you appreciate the full spectrum of beer flavors, then you must also appreciate the balanced flavor and simplicity of certain beers. If you don't like Spotted Cow, that's fine, just don't make broad judgements about those who do. And for the beer god's sake, please don't compare it to watery pilsners (Miller Lite) and actual water (Bud Light).
  7. Chill would be okay with a Taco or something, but I couldn't imagine drinking a few of them at a time. My regular staple is a local favorite - spotted cow. One beer company I would suggest is Berghoff. They are a Wisconsin brew at very nice prices most of the time. If you are looking for a like 'summer' beer, try their Solstice Wit -- almost a citrus feel to it.
  8. I think we should stay away from any criticism of Linebrink in this case. His wife had a child only a few days after her husband was forced to move across the country, and she will need to adjust to both the responsibility of caring for a small human and having a 4 inch slice across her core stomach muscles. If he didn't take that time to be with her, I would question him as a man.
  9. Yeah, I liked it. It felt like the old Simpsons though, for better or worse. It seemed like many people in the theater couldn't stop laughing.
  10. Good thing it's not football rules where you can legally tackle by the hair... Bogut: shape up.
  11. Good lord, the collective baseball brain on this board sometimes amazes me.
  12. It would have to be Yi, Redd, a Couple 1sts, and another player -- but I'd still do it.
  13. Wow, bless your mother for having you at 40. ---------------------- I think scheduling another trip is the best way to go. The trip was really about having that personal experience with the kids. If you can, find something the kids would be really excited to do and let your parents know. It's not about Disney world as much as it is about having that one thing the kids can identify with their grandparents forever -- a great trip.
  14. The tip of the iceberg in the NBA. It's almost pre-destined in a sport that has such a subjective bias for fouls -- perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the sport. The NBA has become something of a Kabuki theatre in recent years. Without a large overhaul it could become even less relevant.
  15. (grumble) Shouldn't there be a rule that you can't take a suspension as a quick 5-day DL?
  16. The East coast SPorts Network could care less if the report was true. The potential to create controversy and rip into a smaller market is just so enticing.
  17. To be honest, I didn't like Braun's demeanor at first because I thought his cockiness wouldn't play well in the clubhouse. But now I see him laughing with the other guys and discussing hitting and stuff -- and I figure he's just fine. I think it's just the outward appearance, but from everything I've heard he's a good guy. And if he keeps up a 1.000+ OPS, he's a friggin god.
  18. Coco on fire, great to see. Now... if only we could get some runs from our 5-8 hitters tomorrow...
  19. Think of it this way: A decade of having a true ace pitcher on the staff vs Mark Prior / Kerry Wood.
  20. Man, can I start getting excited about Jeffress now.... cmon, please?
  21. I'm of the opinion that what's good for the division is good for the Brewers, and what's good for baseball is good for the Brewers. Cuban would bring a ton of attention to the NL Central, and would raise the bar a bit. Frankly, if we're going to be in this to win championships, we're going to need to beat the best. Bring it on.
  22. Cats and dogs living together.... mass hysteria! The bigger question is: How does the demise of the Bucks correlate to the overall demise of the NBA as a whole? The NBA is headed for NHL territory if they are not careful.
  23. Totally normal. Sometimes getting totally integrated into a new group of friends is what destroys a relationship. Allow it to happen naturally.
  24. Is that really true? According to the rule, you can only up them 25 innings per year, correct? Anyone know where that would place them next year?
  25. Agreed, guys like Scarborough are much more tolerable partisans.
