  1. I really think the thundersticks detracted from the experience. Everyone was just playing with deflated balloons instead of cheering. I think loud chants work much better.
  2. Could some one lobotomize the part of my brain that feels pain.
  3. Can I mention that I hate pretty much everything about the City of Philadelphia. Except the cheesesteak. And right now, I am imposed a 3-month personal ban on that sandwich.
  4. Oh $##+, I don't want this team to be embarrassed in the playoffs. At least keep it competitive. EDIT: Wow, worst fears.
  5. Great, let's wear down Yo's arm because we can't catch or field. The offense better make up for that crap.
  6. In play, run(s) --- Ouch, that text is going to give me the runs here at work.
  7. Sing her take me out to the ballgame. In 82, when I was two, that -- along with driving me past the stadium -- helped to calm me down. My son, who is now two, think Corey Hart is going to hit a home run today. I think he's crazy, based on current trends, but how can you argue with it?
  8. Yeah, for some reason I am strangely confident as well. I think we're talking in the 3-5 run range for each team. I just hope Gallardo can keep it together for the first 5.
  9. I think it's finalized -- Joe Winkel-sauce.
  10. Not a huge fan. I don't think Hart belongs in the 6 -- he could easily be a rally killer there. And swap Weeks with Hall. Maybe: 1. Mike Cameron CF 2. Rickie Weeks 2B 3. Ryan Braun LF 4. Prince Fielder 1B 5. J.J. Hardy SS 6. Bill Hall 3B 7. Corey Hart RF 8. Jason Kendall C 9. Yovani Gallardo RHP
  11. Looking at the matchups, I wish there was something we could do to sit Corey Hart. Maybe bat him 8th. He has hit .077 lifetime against Cole Hamels and is in a terrible rut. He's almost a guaranteed out. Get him up there bunting whenever possible. Fielder, Braun, and Hardy all look okay against Hamels. Cam, Durham, Weeks, and Hall are all sub 200 hitters against Cole. I'm thinking some stubborn small ball to wear him down.
  12. I blame all of Washington equally (NOT GETTING POLITICAL). The issue is that they set expectations of a bailout. Credit markets then dry up with investors waiting to see if they are getting a raw deal that week since the game changes the next week. Then, when it doesn't happen, people start to freak out. It would be like if during a gas shortage a gas station announced they were considering offering gas for a buck soon. Everyone started waiting outside that gas station and getting angry. All the other gas stations would be sitting empty, knowing that another week without selling gas could bankrupt them. Then, all of a sudden, that gas station said they couldn't do it. Everyone would be panicked that there is very little gas left and it's expensive. They would be stockpiling goods and hunkering down. Biting each other. Cats and dogs, living together. Lesson learned: Gas and Subprime mortgages are bad.
  13. Yeah, in the playoffs you go for it. Starting Gallardo is 'going for it'.
  14. Basically, I really like Ned. He's a good guy and was busting his butt to help my team win games. I think though, ultimately, he just tried too hard and pushed too much. He'll come back and manage another team, and probably have learned from Milwaukee. But yeah, thank you Ned Yost for your service over the last few years. We've become a better team under your watch.
  15. Try to register beforehand at your city/town clerk. The lines get crazy during Presidential elections for the same-day stuff. Here is a good link: http://vpa.wi.gov/ Also, make sure to update your driver's license information. There is a big debate about that info not matching voter roles. They cannot purge your vote because of it, but they may require you to file a provisional ballot.
  16. I think it was actually one of the best episodes of the last several seasons. They really are finding the sweet spot with each character and where they are funny.
  17. If we make the playoffs and Gallardo can pitch like he did last night, I think it becomes probably that we will see a Bronze Yovanni somewhere in Milwaukee in the future.
  18. Can we please re-sign Coffey and dump Gag-me?
  19. Exactly, this is one of the best methods for entering colleges. I made the mistake of procrastinating with my applications and got my application in after La Crosse had closed admissions. So, they simply accepted me and coordinated the transfer after the first semester. I attended UWM for a semester and then headed up. Many many students drop out after one semester. It was painless, they made sure any and all credits were valid. Many people do that with Madison as well. One of the benefits of having such a strong and coordinated state system.
  20. Well, I appreciate that we won't get Z or Harden... but Dempster gives us trouble.
  21. So, there is no downside? I think I'll drive up there for a game or two.
  22. I prefer my Rachel Ray like I prefer my Monet: blurry. Otherwise though, I think food should be jumping out of the TV in full-scanline glory.
  23. " Is there a person in here that believes that guy would be able to pull the women that he was shown with. He was awkward and shy and yet he was pulling strippers and bar skanks with little effort." I'm reasonably certain that they were paid escorts. The first one asked if he wanted to know her real name.
  24. I think some of the acting is great and the themes are sound, but the junk science throws me off. The whole aging thing was absurd. It totally ignored the fact that a being simply cannot grow in a traditional sense in a short amount of time like that. If anything, it would get massive tumors over a course of months, not seconds. It just was too much. That said, the actor playing the scientist Bishop deserves an award or something. Just a great great character. "What a wonderful feature, have you seen this, it warms your ass."
