Lost the game, didn't pull into a tie with the Rockies, didn't gain a game on the Cubs, and blew out every good arm in our pen before the most crucial series of the season. Good times.
I can't even blame the pen if we blow this. They've been near perfect lately, can't expect that to continue. The fact of the matter is we had the best part of our order up with the bases loaded in the 7th with 1 out. You've just got to get it done there and get at least 1 insurance run.
Or just maybe not keep trying to play smallball? What is our success rate this year when we make purposeful efforts to try to 'manufacture' a run? 10%? Perhaps it's just not something we do well?
Great that we took the lead. Love that Counsell pulled out all the stops to make it happen that inning. Disappointed in the poor ABs by Braun and especially Santana. We had a chance to blow it wide open and now we are going to likely need our best pen arms again.
This umpire is an absolute buffoon. Blown balls and strikes aside, then he doesn't give the sign to go to first for Freese on an HBP but when he just goes on his own he says go ahead ?
You can be disappointed with one aspect of the team and not another. I'm very disappointed with the performance of our hitters lately, not disappointed in our pitchers.
Damnit Perez. So disappointed with this offense. I think that's 4 leadoff men on board this game and not a single one has scored besides the HR by Aguilar. We cannot continue to squander these chances. There is just too much at stake. Of all nights we absolutely have to get some offense going this IS the night.
Disappointing outing for Wilkerson, but it's still a 1 run game. We have got to find a way to win this. The Rockies have lost and the Cubs are losing. We haven't gotten many of these opportunities lately to gain ground on both. We have got to seize it.
