  1. I'm not sure if Jimmy has a young son, but if he does, he needs to spend some time in the backyard with him practicing a soft underhand toss from close range. Just missed being the blooper of the year right there.
  2. This is actually a situation where the more time Garza spends on the DL, the better. Under no circumstance should we let Garza's 2018 option of $13M vest, which requires 110 appearances. I think he's at 53. They can't let him hit 110, but the less intervention required to keep him from the mark, the better.
  3. You should check out this hilarious gem. http://a.espncdn.com/mlb/columns/morgan_joe/1433286.html
  4. I'm going through MLB team stats and trying to find an area where we aren't atrocious. 23rd in runs, 27th in batting average, 28th in ERA, 30th in WHIP, 30th in K/9, 29th in runs allowed, 30th in run differential. Don't be fooled by 'only' being 5-7, we are every bit as bad as we thought we might be.
  5. Neither was an easy play, but Carter is 0 for 2 the last couple games on making a catch in foul territory.
  6. With one out I don't blame Gomez for trying to take 3rd. It took a perfect throw by Carter to get him.
  7. Good question. You know, you can't trade everyone. Gennett is young and packed on muscle so if his growth is for real I think the Brewers have to hold onto him. Not sure why we would have to extend him though. He's not a free agent until 2020. No, but he'll be entering arbitration. If he's a core guy that you want to rebuild around, it might be a good idea to take the approach we took with Lucroy and look to buy that arbitration time out along with a few free agency years.
  8. They always say that catching a foul tip is nothing skill related and just random luck. Anyone know the explanation behind that? Scientifically, if that's the right word here.
  9. Boy, Carter just looked lost on that one. Tough matchup against Meshak.
  10. I can find about 10,000 sources other than Brian Anderson that speculated that Peralta might have the upside of an ace.
  11. I'm trying to remember the last time I was really excited for a Braun AB. I think that era has come and gone. On the other hand, if Scooter has a breakout first half, do you extend him or trade him?
  12. Not true. While it hasn't been a deep pitching organization. Fiers, Nelson, Jungmann are three I can think of that have come out and there might be others. Up until last season, Peralta was considered to have an ace type ceiling, and I'm taking that into account as a prospect coming out of our system. While I'll concede it's debatable between him, Jungmann, and Nelson, Fiers wasn't on that level. That wasn't really the point of what I was saying anyyway.
  13. If you want to know why we're rebuilding, it can be simplified down to the fact that Wily Peralta is the best pitcher to come out of our system in the last 8 years.
  14. On that note, I find your handle to be hilarious. I picture you having typed in 'cubssuck' and 'cubsblow' and thinking, 'No, just not strong enough' and then typing 'cubsdie' and thinking 'perfect.'
  15. Well, there goes the last piece of the Zach Greinke trade. It's all up to you now, Isan Diaz.
  16. This team is going to be really terrible. The good news is that we were all prepared for that.
  17. I know you obviously can't determine anything this early, but I have a bad feeling that this late in Braun's career, he's going to turn into a .270, 20 HR 'meh' kind of player.
  18. Another out on the bases. Nice to see we haven't forgotten our roots.
  19. Nope he's not, it's no RBI. Not sure what the reasoning is behind it, probably not wanting to reward the hitter for a bad play. True that you still brought the run home. But you could say the same if you reached on an error and the run scored which in most cases would also not be an RBI.
  20. Why is Flores getting high fives for grounding into a double play?
  21. That's very true, it's imperfect, but I don't see a better way of doing this exercise. There are a lot of current MLB players that would fall into this category, and they surely all would have been drafted by some team. Given that it's impossible to know where they would have ended up, I am content with the idea behind it simply being a check of our organic farm and draft history. As an example, the Cardinals wouldn't have Lance Lynn either, but he's obviously be on a roster somewhere.
