  1. It's going to be extremely frustrating if we lose because our obviously gassed starting pitcher was left out there to walk 3 straight hitters in the 7th.
  2. Fantastic. Nothing like loading the bases with walks in a 6-3 game.
  3. Gallardo still hasn't thrown anything close to a strike this AB. It's 2-2 because he's been helped.
  4. Giving Weeks a day off is a nice idea in theory, but they aren't exactly loaded with bench options to replace him even for a game.
  5. I guess it must be against the rules for Lucroy to barrel over the 1st baseman there.
  6. It's still very early and Segura is under club control for cheap for the next 6 years. There's no rush.
  7. Roenicke told him to pull his head out of his...you know. I get it. Hard to say that without getting tossed. My beef isn't with Darling anyway, it's with Fagan. For Fagan to miss that call tells me that he simply wasn't paying attention and therefore negligent in his job, because it was an obvious call. Darling doesn't have the angle to make a definitive call on that. I would want him to appeal to 3rd either way. Once he asks for help, it's not his call. It's 100% a missed call by Fagan.
  8. Not Gary Darling's fault after all. He did do his job and ask for help. What Roenicke said would get anyone tossed. Now Fagan over there on 3rd base is a different story. Do your freaking job, it was an obvious call. I can only conclude that you were daydreaming when the pitch was thrown.
  9. Normally I'd launch into a tirade here about MLB umpires and their ridiculous egos, but I watched the Bucks tonight, so NBA officiating always puts things in perspective.
  10. That'll happen when you're completely predictable, RR.
  11. I ordered a Jean Segura jersey last month because I wanted something that was a little different and not commonly seen at the park or sought out. So much for that.
  12. Which is too bad because for once his pitch count is in relatively decent shape. And the pen already had a long night last night.
  13. I'm not sure Gallardo makes it through 5 tonight. He doesn't have it at all. He can't find the strike zone, and when he does it's getting smoked.
  14. BS: "You don't see Aoki swing at pitches out of the strike zone very often." Nor was that pitch...
  15. Yo would be in big trouble tonight if these were anything but the Padres hitters.
  16. Aramis will be back in a week and be hitting after Braun. He OPS'ed .900 last year. We'll be just fine there. Lucroy will do in the meantime.
  17. And that's why Weeks should have been removed from the cleanup spot days ago...because it would still be 4-2 right now if he was tonight.
  18. Yo, for how good of a hitter you are, that was a pitiful 3 attempts at laying down a bunt. I'll add that I don't think such a good hitting pitcher like Yo should be bunting with 2 strikes.
  19. Is there any rhyme or reason as to why Roenicke seems to constantly flip Betancourt and Gonzalez in the field between first and third? I can't imagine that there is some sort of foreseen tactical advantage to doing it one way or the other on different days. Maybe it's just me, but I would think that keeping them in the same consistent position would be more conducive to them learning how to play defense at that position.
  20. Blue's strike zone is about the size of a golf ball with Gallardo on the mound.
  21. Good deals: Braun, Lucroy, Aoki Braun's original deal was an outstanding bargain, but even his new "career" extension is reasonable, especially when you consider inflation adjustments. Even $19M a year from 2016-2018 is a small price to pay for a franchise player, assuming his production doesn't drop off as he enters his 30's. Lucroy is looking like a very cheap deal signed at the right time for us. Even the team option for 2017 is just $5.25M. Aoki makes about as much as a bench player. We hit with that one. I've heard he has a team option for next year for another reasonable price, but this isn't indicated in the Brewerfan.net salaries page, can anyone confirm or deny this? Bad deals: Axford $5M for a first year arby 7th inning reliever? Though that wasn't the intent at the time, this did seem like an overpay especially considering last season. Looking at the rest of the roster, it's hard to find anything that really stands out as a big overpay. I know that everything about Weeks screams that he's overpaid, but really, he's pretty close to market for a second baseman of his caliber. Guys like Gallardo, Hart, Lohse, Ramirez, are well-compensated, but not overpaid in relation to their market value. Guys like Segura are obviously fantastic bargains, but I don't really count them because they are just bargains because of their 0-3 status, not because we signed them to great bargains. All in all, I've got to hand it to Doug. I've had issues with how he runs this team, but I don't really see many poor values on this roster at all. Now that we have contracts like Suppan and Hall off the books, it seems like he's done a pretty solid job managing the payroll this time around.
