Rickie is at the point of just kind of standing up there in the batters box and hoping that he gets 4 balls before he gets 3 strikes.

Felt like that was a 10 minute AB just to watch that happen. Only the Brewers.

Well, it's still early, so I'm not going to give up hope yet. But our pitching staff is last in the NL with a 4.50 ERA, and we need somebody to step up and eat up some innings/pitch well. I wanted to give Kranitz the boot after having the worst bullpen in MLB last year, but no one seems to think he's the problem.

Lucroy, Weeks, and the absence of Hart. The fact that we probably have the worst bench in MLB doesn't help. It doesn't get much attention, but our bench is horrendous. There's nothing to get excited about in a pinch-hitting situation, because we have no one. I mean, Gallardo is probably our best bet for a big fly off the bench if we needed one late.

If we fail this year, starting pitching will be our downfall...no doubt about it. I'm a little bummed, because Fiers, Peralta, and Rogers were killing it at the end of last year. I thought we were going to have something to look forward to.

Need to score in the next two innings...Chapman will destroy us in the 9th if we don't. Weeks vs. Chapman might be the biggest possible mismatch for any pitcher vs. any position player.

I know, man, it's just embarrassing how bad the Brewers have been lately at drafting Hall of Fame players. That's not even the point, everyone knows that not every Braun and Fielder level prospect turns out to be a Hall of Fame player. The point is that most teams have someone in the system with that kind of potential upside, we do not. -

There are plenty of guys as good as Hart in our system. Who? Hart, at full strength for a season, is a 30 HR, 3 WAR player at the MLB level. I don't see our system stocked with players like this. -

There's no reason it has to take 2 minutes. There's no reason it has to take longer than 30 seconds with the technology available. If you can't decide conclusively after 30 seconds, the call stands. Just have a replay official already looking at, don't have the entire crew disappear into some tunnel and then come out with the wrong call because their egos are too big. I'm not crazy about the NFL system, but I'm in favor of anything that leans towards getting the calls right. They have just as many reviews in college football now, but they do it right and it's not extremely time-consuming. People also exaggerate how many "review" calls would take place in a game. In an average game, you might have 3. At 30 seconds each, that's 90 seconds, probably comparable to one manager/umpire argument. Yes some games you are going to have more, and some you won't have any at all. They're not going to review a guy being out or safe at first when the whole world saw him get thrown out by 2 steps.

Really annoyed by Roenicke in his presser telling us that a 3-6 homestand isn't good but they played really good teams. That's a mentality of a losing team. Playoff teams have to be able to beat other really good teams. We do aspire to be a really good team, do we not?

Yeah forgot to mention after the A's game tonight, instant replay itself isn't enough -- you also have to have an umpiring crew with respective sets of properly functioning eyes. It's useless without that. I know the cliche line about MLB umpires is that they do a great job, but it's simply not true. To miss a call with the benefit of replay that some intoxicated college kids could get right from their dorm room is truly an embarrassment for MLB and their umpiring crews.

God I hate Gonzalez. Up 2-0, get yourself on base and get the tying run to the plate, and he hacks at a potential Ball 3 then potential Ball 4. He is the very definition of useless.

I'm just asking these guys to realize that they need to get on base above all else here, and not see any wild swings looking for a solo HR. EDIT: Well, that's already out the window.

Lucroy is every bit as awful as Weeks this year.

Braun chases Ball 4 at a time that we desperately need baserunners. Urgh. Could be 1st and 2nd with nobody out and the tying run up.

I get your point...mine is that you've got more of a contact hitter coming up, put yourself in scoring position and you might be able to get out of the inning at 4-2. With 2 outs, there's a lot bigger difference between going from 1st to 2nd than from 2nd to 3rd. I also thought he had a lot better shot at making it than Rock let on, but I could be wrong.

Multiple times this year, FSN has, on a check swing, showed us an angle of the check swing down the 1st base line. Only problem with this is, this has been with lefties up. I'm confused. Do they not understand what the purpose is of the angle down the line on check swings?

How they can rule that a triple by Gomez is beyond me. I've seen a lot tougher errors.

That baserunning error is again shared by Lucroy. Why on earth was he waving hin over to third? Lesson learned for Brewer baserunners tonight -- if Lucroy is in the vicinity of home plate, you're just going to have to figure out yourself what to do.

Segura/Gomez would he an interesting choice as a #1/#2. I wouldn't like all the running in front of Braun and Ramirez though.
