  1. Way to work out of it Kolb/JDLR!!! When it was 3-0 on Encarnacion with Pujols on deck, Eckstein on 1st and nobody out, I thought that was probably going to be all she wrote.
  2. Lovely. What a wasted inning. Aren't there enough ways to lose without trying to find new ones? This game has tough loss written all over it.
  3. Grounding into the double-play is just something you have to risk at times. It does not outweigh the consequences of bunting with two strikes. You are already sacrificing 1 of only 3 outs you have by trying to get that runner over to second, then you are going to further risk giving up that out without any compensation by trying again? Cirillo is a capable hitter -- it was a no-brainer to have him swinging with 2 strikes. At least it should have been.
  4. Eh...Not Cirillo's day at all. 0-5 and failed to get down a big sac bunt. Disagree with Yost having him try to still get down a bunt with 2 strikes. That's something you have a pitcher do -- not a guy who is capable of coming up with the basehit, especially in a clutch situation.
  5. Good eye Brady.....! Leadoff walk is as good as a leadoff single. PLEASE don't try to steal. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Whew! We've got to get a run and get T-Bow in there. Need this game!! 1 out of 3 in St. Louis wouldn't be too disappointing. Like someone said though, taking a 4 game losing streak into New York and L.A. could be big trouble.
  7. Or not....Bennett, who proved to be detrimental to the team when he was on it, proves he can be detrimental to our team when he's not on it, too. Error by JJ looming large, one single away from letting this very winnable game slip away, getting swept, and losing our fourth straight. This one would hurt bad. Still making the same old mistakes to lose.
  8. And in regards to Wynegar, I have been calling for his head ever since last year when Prince was up in June, and after seeing Hardy bat, Prince pointed out to him that he wasn't using the same stance as he did in the minors. After that, JJ was a .300 + hitter. I was just amazed how a hitting coach who gets paid to notice things exactly like that had it go right over his head. Ever since then, I've been pretty convinced that Wynegar is next to useless for our hitters.
  9. (sigh) 1 for 8 with RISP this game...it's not just something we make up...
  10. There's the Chad Moeller that we know and love. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif Prince at 2nd though...c'mon JJ!!!
  11. You must have meant a big 5th. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Only two hits through 4. Suppan is doing it again. It's a long season, but I sure hope our offense can get going at some point.
  12. Fine. Both times. 3 runs the first outing, and 2 the second. Does the point change?
  13. What is the deal with Capellan? I thought he was not all that long ago, one of the best pitching prospects in baseball, a fireballer whose fastball could approach triple digits... Well, he's gotten shelled every time we've seen him this season, and has he even hit 95 on the gun? I'm not ready to give up on him, but I sure don't see what all the hype was about.
  14. Nice.... Just an embarrassing day.
  15. And so far, the turning point of this game was when we had runners at 2nd and 3rd and failed to execute and get even 1 in. Weeks or Prince comes through there, it's an even ballgame right now.
  16. And no, Rickie certainly wasn't trying to strike out, but that was an UGLY swing at that third strike. You could tell when the pitch was halfway to the plate that it was going to be outside in the dirt.
  17. Yeah, benching Rickie is not the answer. This guy has all the potential in the world, it would be a bad idea to crush his confidence, and we already know he can be dangerous. Seven games into the season, it's not even an option. The only downside is that I wish they could find a way for Hall to be an everyday starter, but not at Rickie's expense.
  18. I understand, but I am talking more about a general trend rather than just the occurences tonight. And regardless of who you are facing, if you have runners at 2nd and 3rd and 1 out, you need to be able to get at least one run in, more times than not. A flyball will do. A slow hit ground ball will do. You have to be able to execute and at least put the ball in play. If they can't find a way to do that, they're going to be on the short end of a lot of 4-3 games.
  19. Cardinals converted 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, we didn't. That's a 4 run swing. Right now, that's one of the big differences between us and the Cardinals. They come through, we, more often than not, let opporunities slip away. I understand we have a young team and these things will happen, but that's really something that we're going to have to improve on this year, or these close games will start going the other way.
  20. Now Okha walks the pitcher, for his 3rd walk plus a HBP. With Pujols coming up later this inning. And then Rolen singles to right. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Same situation. Think the Cardinals will take advantage of the scoring opportunity?
  21. That's an area where this team hasn't shown much growth yet this season, and it's frustrating. Great scoring opportunity, 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs. When your gut feeling tells you that they will probably come away with nothing, that needs to be fixed.
  22. Good point rluzinski. Yost doesn't seem to have his head in the game much today, IMO.
  23. I think the most frustrating thing about today's loss, if we don't come back, is the fact that too much of it just reeked of the mistakes from last year's team. AGAIN, not coming through with runners in scoring position. Clumsy errors and excessive walks costing us runs. Scrub pitchers or any guy named (insert name of Triple A prospect making his debut) shutting down the bats. We're still going to be 5-1 at worst, but it's a little frustrating to see.
  24. Clue #1 - Cappy's PC was over 100, very high for early in the season. Clue #2 - He had just walked in a run to make it 2-0, still a very winnable ballgame at that point. Clue #3 - It was his 3rd walk of the inning. I am at a loss as to what Yost was thinking. I think he's a good manager, but this loss will fall a lot on his shoulders if we lose this one 4-2 or 4-3. It was a very "Grady Little" type of decision.
  25. I can't believe Yost didn't give him the hook after he walked 3 in the inning and walked in a run. Poor, poor decision on that one.
