  1. Yeah extras is the minimum expectation at this point. But I’d much rather win it now.
  2. Every time we’ve put something together tonight, we give it right back. Thankful to the Rays today, because this team needs all the help it can get right now. The Brewers are not playing good baseball.
  3. Where is this amazing platinum glove from Brice Turang? That wasn’t even one that required a bunch of range to knock down.
  4. Did they have a righty up that they were going to if Vaughn came in? I mean, I’m trying to understand as well.
  5. If most sac flies was the criteria for winning baseball games, we’d be all set tonight.
  6. Well, you’ve got the tying run at the plate with nobody out. You aren’t going to get a better (and probably another) shot at getting back in this in a hurry.
  7. I wish Chourio had shown the kind of discipline and patience he showed there when he was up earlier with the bases loaded.
  8. I think we all assumed Mona had at least earned a few starts a week rotating at 2-3 positions when Ortiz came back. I’ve been really disappointed with Murphy’s process on that.
  9. Like I said, I know Bauers has been playing decently. But this isn’t a guy who is going to go on the kind of streak that Vaughn did and carry the offense for an extended period.
  10. I refuse to believe that the moment Jake Bauers finally returned from IL being exactly when we started going from elite to mediocre is a coincidence. (Yes, I know he’s been playing well).
  11. I think at this point, the Phillies will pass us. We do have the tiebreaker, so there’s a tiny cushion there, but they’re just playing too well. They’d have to hit a skid in a hurry. It doesn’t really matter whether we’re the 2 or 1. We’ll get dusted in the NLDS quickly the way we’re playing. Play the way we were playing in July and we can win it all. Play this way and it will be a quick exit.
  12. Not going to come close with a single sac fly every time we have a chance at a big inning.
  13. We know we’re better than this. And we knew we weren’t some unbeatable version of the ‘27 Yankees when we won 14 straight.
  14. I pretty much agree, but a few weeks ago even losing our grip on the 1 seed seemed pretty unrealistic.
  15. While the second paragraph is true, the reason is because the Cubs haven’t gone on an extended hot run like the Phillies have. It wasn’t because we haven’t been giving them the opportunity. It wasn’t long ago that the Phillies were also 7+ back.
  16. Hanging slider right down the middle. This digging of his heels by Murphy on Miz is just so bizarre. He’s pacing way over any previous workload, he’s not been good most of the time, and frankly, his confidence is probably not in a great place at the moment. Let it go. Plenty of guys start in the pen. It’s not the time to try to be forcing a young pitcher to grow up.
