Not directing this at anyone here but I never understood why anyone ever downplays or upsells the importance of any individual game just because of what happened in the rest of the series. Each game is uniquely important and counts the same in the standings, it's not like a set in volleyball or tennis. A "series" is really nothing more than a lump of games played at the same location against one team.
I'm sure I've done it too lol. I just wonder if it is a mental thing more than anything.
Myers has had better days, but he also gave us almost 6 innings and 2 earned runs in an extreme pitchers park on a day when he lacked command. I'll take it.
Would have liked to see Myers get through the 6th but he was definitely at the end of his rope. Got away with a bad location on Marte but then India ripped the next one. Hopefully Koenig can work out of it.
How many dominant closers have a regular 3rd pitch anyway? Seems like the vast majority are two pitch players.
I agree, I don't need him horsing around with a mediocre 3rd pitch just to have a 3rd pitch. They're not hitting his other two. If Devin ever runs into problems it's almost always because of command of his two pitches, not because he's not keeping hitters off balance with the two pitches.
Pretty poor team performance tonight. Still have a chance to win because the Reds are not very good and we are, but outside of Chourio, Adames, Perkins and Ashby, the entire team has played poorly.
Our 1B platoon guys are a combined 0 for 7 with 5 Ks and a pop up.
I'm not saying we need the prime of Prince Fielder at 1B but anything is better than these two.
If Yelich can play 1st at all, next year is as good of a time as any.
