  1. As tempting, and valid as it may be to blame payroll disparity, the Tigers and Royals are both right there with us. And they both did the job.
  2. My only issue with Murphy tonight is that Garrett Mitchell never had the bat in his hand once tonight. Very disappointed in that.
  3. The ultra-deflating thing about this season is that our performance was kind of our ceiling. We won our division. were the 3rd best team in the NL. It's going to always be hard to ever ask for more than that from ANY Brewer team. And we still, could not even reach the NLDS.
  4. If it weren't for the Bucks winning it all in 2021 I'd have to give some serious consideration to just walking away from Wisconsin professional sports in the interest of my own mental health. Seriously, these last 15 years have been brutal. Every team is always seemingly on the cusp of something big and no matter what they find some way to let it all come spectacularly burning to the ground.
  5. They went into the 9th inning having allowed 0 runs and they had arguably the best closer in baseball from the last few years on the mound. I don't think they could ask the pitching to set them up to win any better than they did tonight.
  6. I mean typos happen but it seems silly to blame me for not interpreting it the other way through context when you were literally putting some blame on Murphy for the loss, but I digress. I just honestly think Murphy managed this one about as well as he could have. You cannot just pull the trigger every time a guy gives up a walk and a basehit. Especially not someone with the track record of Devin. He choked and it happened.
  7. I'm fine if Williams gets traded in the offseason. They've done incredibly well not missing a beat when they've traded top guys like Hader and Burnes. I am not sure if Williams is just a playoff choker but I am honestly fine with not finding out again. They have enough options in the pen to replace him.
  8. I've managed to make myself apathetic to Badger game results. Unfortunately have not figured out how to emotionally disconnect from the Brewers or Packers.
  9. "I never said Williams should’ve have been in. " Literally your exact words in the first post on page 33.
  10. I would have absolutely been ok if Lindor rips a middle/middle get me over 3-2 pitch. You can't walk the leadoff man in a 2-0 game. Make him beat you.
  11. Yeah, I agree I wish they could get it done just once for Ueck. I think if you asked Ueck though, he's had a wonderful life and his legacy and journey in it won't be defined by whether or not he sees the Brewers win a World Series in his lifetime.
  12. It's not on me that you're clearly having an emotionally irrational response to what happened. Numerous posts into this and you still haven't suggested who should have been brought in instead other than to say that someone else should have brought in to face Winker when the score was already 3-2 and the damage done.
  13. There were a whole page of posts of people that felt good that Devin was going to come in and slam the door easily, which unfortunately did not happen.
  14. Who would you have gone with in the 9th? You wouldn't have put Devin Williams in with a 2-0 lead in the 9th, your AS closer whose whole job literally revolves around this role and who has excelled in it his entire career? I'm sorry, but this is the definition of hindsight. By the Winker AB the lead was gone, so I don't know what difference that would have made. A mound visit? I think we're stretching there. I don't know that Devin was out of control. He threw some strikes but he tried to nibble too much with Lindor and lost him. Then he made a bad pitch to Nimmo. If he came into the game and threw 12 balls and 0 strikes and immediately loaded the bases for Alonso, I'm probably with you that you have to make a move. But that's not what happened.
  15. As far as who wins now, I couldn't possibly care less. Won't watch another inning of MLB this year. On to football.
  16. What should he have done differently in the 9th? He has to face 3 guys. The leadoff walk was terrible but then he got the next guy. Who should have come in to face Alonso? I am beyond disappointed, and I've had my moments where I've been critical of Murphy, but this isn't it. There isn't a manager in baseball who would've done something other than bringing Devin in for the 9th, and there isn't a manager in baseball who would have had such a short leash with him to pull him after the minimum for Alonso.
  17. I get why people don't like negativity around here, but sometimes you just have to look and see that it's a result of failure on the big stage again and again and again to the point where you're just conditioned to it. It doesn't pay to get emotionally invested in the Brewers. You might as well pour champagne and celebrate when they win a division, just like they do.
  18. The worst part about all this is Jesse freaking Winker getting to celebrate on our field tonight.
  19. Murphy was fine. No one could come up with a big AB when we had multiple scoring chances with runners in scoring position and then Devin choked. Not much else to it.
  20. Obviously 95% of this falls on Devin but the Brewers had multiple chances to add runs in this game and failed over and over again with RISP like we've seen so many times this season. They left themselves with very little margin for error in the 9th and it was enough margin for Devin to blow it.
  21. Our All-Star closer just blew our entire season in 1 inning when we were certain we were about to advance. Seems like a really weird time for this. This isn't some random game on August 19th.
  22. None of what Devin did all season means a thing if he can't come through when it matters.
  23. I know it's been said, but it bears repeating -- walking Lindor or giving up a HR to Lindor are the exact same thing. You cannot, absolutely cannot put him on for free in a 2-0 game. It is beyond inexcusable.
  24. I was going to say, might as well get your money's worth and drill Winker, your season is over anyway.
  25. One way or another, they find a way to choke. Always.
