  1. Which is why you do have to mix it up once in awhile and can’t just fire a 4 seamer every pitch and let them sit on it. I know it’s obviously hard to hit 102 no matter what but they’ll get lucky once in awhile when they can just sit on it.
  2. If you’re going to steal there you better make it.
  3. I wouldn’t want him there every single day but the few innings he’s had there this season he has looked fine. If you’re going to start him there Miz is the right time to do it. It beats starting Mark Kotsay in CF in the NLCS.
  4. It was definitely an overreactionary game thread, myself included. Go onto twitter/X and things are far worse. It’s interesting to look at/wonder why, because things haven’t been bad - 4 out of our last 5 and 14-7 since the AS break. I think there’s things that contribute psychologically - particularly when the Cubs start playing well we get the feeling that they’ll always continue to play that well, even when baseball has proven time and time again to be a streaky sport (the Cubs themselves have both winning and losing streaks of 10 games this very season). I think some disappointment over the trade deadline - what we didn’t get, what we got, and what we gave up, is all spilling over too.
  5. People don’t want to hear this but Jesus Made probably isn’t relatively close to a call up. Some chance late next year, virtually none this year. It’s unfortunate they weren’t able to keep Shewmake. There just isn’t much IF depth at the upper minors without him. Some chance of Luke Adams but he’s only an option at corner infield, not particularly versatile. Not really a great fit for a part time utility role.
  6. He got that little nubber single to 3rd that he barely beat out earlier and he gets that “we are so proud of you” pop from the crowd. It's honestly a little sad to see and I’m not sure playing him as much as they do does any favors for anyone.
  7. How bad Gasser is with 0-2 counts is kind of phenomenal. Man needs an out pitch.
  8. He’s not on the 40 I don’t believe. So a move would have to be made unless there’s space.
  9. Tied up. There is still currently a higher chance tonight of the division lead going back up to 5.5 than there is of it going down to 3.5.
  10. Helps when the players that they pamper can be replaced by players equally as good in the meantime.
  11. Going to be a lot of egg on the face of Arnold if he gives up two good prospects for rentals just to blow the division anyway.
  12. Really disappointing game. Disappointing performance by Drohan and Murphy. Just not a winning game.
  13. Lara picks some terrible times to not be aggressive.
  14. And he is not the only non player in the organization who has contributed to that result.
  15. Carrying around pancakes in your pockets is weird. Having your bored fidgety children crawling around a room full of reporters after games having no idea what anyone is talking about is weird. Writing a letter from your deceased legendary play by play guy to your team from before he passed and playing it off as legitimate is weird. Playing Ortiz constantly for two years and then letting him ride the pine for David Hamilton the minute he finally starts to come out of it is weird. All of these things are undoubtedly weird.
  16. Lol now we can’t either. Thanks Hamilton. That was not even close to missing.
  17. At least the Twins can’t challenge again tonight which could be important with this monstrosity behind the plate.
  18. This lineup needs more Lara’s and less Yelich’s.
  19. Weird, when I brought up how much good luck contributed to May’s outing last night, I was told the results are all that matter.
  20. Not many folks would trade 2 runs for 3 more additional outs out of their pitcher but not many folks walk around with pancakes in their pockets for a handy snack on the go, either.
