  1. I also kind of figured on a loss tonight. Coming off a really good homestand, feels like we don’t have much success against Gray, and don’t have much confidence in Miz on the road.
  2. This isn’t really relevant to tonight, but did Contreras’ framing get much worse or something? Going solely on eye test, it seems really, really bad at times.
  3. Anderson can eat the last 10 outs and then go back on IL for all I care at this point.
  4. I would guess Miz makes it, but I don’t love it. Anderson is probably a bubble guy, but I think his only shot is if both Megill and Hall aren’t ready. I’d rather see Gasser than Anderson despite the unknown.
  5. I don’t think they’d be able to get to 94 wins if we forfeited every game the rest of the season.
  6. I think there’s a pretty good case for leaving Miz off the playoff roster. The case is, he’s an absolute loose cannon.
  7. They’ll have a week with no games at the end of the season. I don’t want to risk injury or ride anybody who really needs a break, but I’m not overly concerned about rest with no WC round to play.
  8. It looks like I may be out here on my own on this one, but I’m against going with less than a 12 man pitching staff. Just too many opportunities for something to go wrong. Short start by a starter, 12 inning game, etc.
  9. If you looked into the totality of his posting history, you’d understand. Also of course someone posing as a Brewer fan is going to call themselves something like that.
  10. I like his defense of course, but it’s not worth having a black hole in the lineup every day.
  11. We need to be able to do better than an everyday SS with a .591 OPS next year, especially if seemingly half of his ABs are with the bases loaded.
  12. This would be a massively disappointing one to drop, with what Priester did early, and the Phillies idle.
  13. And that’s why you can’t walk the leadoff man. All the good things you did this game and you’re losing 2-1 just like that.
  14. If Bill Schroeder was a wind up doll and you pulled the string or wound him up, he would say “maybe got it out on the trademark just a bit.”
  15. I’m not going to argue too much about matchups, because there are no easy outs and no matchups have really gone right for us in recent years, but the Dodgers are still the Dodgers, so avoiding both them and Philly, and guaranteeing that we don’t have to face both, seems like a reasonably good thing to me. Aside from that, the Phillies win 68% of their games at home and 51% on the road. The Brewers win 65% of the time at home and 57% of the time on the road. There’s your potential game 7 location of the NLCS. Do I think it’s a huge deal? No, I could absolutely see them going to the World Series as the 2, or getting knocked out of the NLDS as the 1. Do I think it’s clearly an advantage? Yes.
  16. The Phillies are idle. If we win, the lead grows to 3. With no tiebreaker, the Phillies would have to make 4 games up on us with 9 to play. There’s a real chance to seize control again today.
  17. Peralta, Woodruff, Priester, Uribe, Koenig, Mears, Ashby, and I think even Miz, in some role, are probably locks. If Megill is healthy, he is a lock. So there’s only 4 spots left for Quintana (if healthy), Hall (if healthy) Anderson, Myers, Patrick, Fedde, Gasser, and Zastryzny. That’s assuming Payamps has no real shot. Would guess the potential NLCS pitching staff probably won’t be the same as the NLDS staff.
  18. Civale has been a basically unhittable staple of the Cubs’ bullpen, because why wouldn’t he be.
