  1. Gary stares at a hanging curveball right down the middle and then chases one in the dirt on the next pitch. Such a frustrating watch today the offense is.
  2. I’d have to go back and look. I thought he got way too far off the base.
  3. I mean there’s something Yelich could have done about that.
  4. Murph was just raving last week about how Christian rode the bus to St. Louis with the coaches, so maybe he can start joining them in some additional roles that don’t involve swinging at a baseball.
  5. Kids if you’re reading this, tell Daddy that you really think Christian should bat 7th.
  6. When Ortiz was batting I was really hoping he could reach so we could at least clear Yelich’s spot for next inning. You should never be hoping that you can just clear your leadoff hitter.
  7. Us a month ago: “Murph, Vaughn should play against righties, he can hit.” Murph: “No, he’s a platoon guy.” Us today: “You’re right Murph, he’s a platoon guy.” Murph: “Oh yeah?”
  8. Here’s a stat: Since Christian Yelich returned from the IL in early May, he has had 8 total games in which he did not strike out at least once. For perspective, Garrett Mitchell, who is not exactly known for being a low strikeout guy, has 9 such games since the beginning of June (not counting the games where he didn’t record an AB).
  9. One out into the game and we have half our challenges left. Does Murphy ever even have a conversation with Sanchez about his challenge habits?
  10. Wait what ? Gosh I hope this is true because I’m going tomorrow. Initially it was listed as Sproat tomorrow and Miz Tuesday.
  11. Because our 6th best hitter absolutely must hit leadoff every day or it would be disrespectful to him, which pushes everyone else down one.
  12. Murphy still creatively finding ways to keep Lara on the bench half the time even in the absence of Frelick.
  13. Great series so far. Really needed this fast start after sputtering into the break.
  14. No way was that strike 2 to Lara as bad as Gameday says it was.
  15. We have the better team but I really wish we had a dude like Otto Lopez on our roster,
  16. My point wasn’t that Leonard over Jones would have made some sort of difference in the W/L column. My point was if you have two guys who you consider expendable AAAA types and you need one up for a warm body for a few days before DFAing, pick the more versatile guy who has never had an MLB debut before, has earned it with his play in the minors, isn’t vested into MLB healthcare, and would probably have a great appreciation for it. Don’t pick the guy you already picked earlier this season who already fell flat on his face with his opportunity. And if they had gone this route, they’d still have Jones in the minors for minor league depth.
  17. My biggest wish is that we had a little more awareness that it’s time to be aggressive in the late innings. My theory on the hands off approach by the coaching staff is that maybe they feel that batters/catchers have enough to worry about when they’re at the plate - scouting report of opposing pitcher/batter, situation (runners on, number of outs), how aggressive to be in the count that they’re in, etc, and they feel that giving them one more thing to have to think could be counterproductive.
  18. Murphy in the postgame presser made it sound like Frelick is going to be out for quite awhile. Which sucks for Sal. From a team standpoint, I don’t think it really hurts, Lara is going to play almost daily now and Perkins probably comes back up in his usual bench role.
  19. Winning this game doesn’t make it more acceptable that Jackson Chourio didn’t challenge that strike call in the 9th inning and I really hope Murphy has a conversation with him about it and I hope he learns from it,
