  1. I mean it counts as a deal, though not a deadline deal, and Vaughn had some tremendously impactful moments this summer. I think it’s fair to question though whether he’s going to be a long-term impact guy here rather than more of a Rowdy Tellez-like fun flash in the pan.
  2. Lost in most of this, I assume the Shelby Miller era is over in Milwaukee. Certainly not what we hoped for. I can’t say that anything we did at the deadline this year turned out to be particularly impactful.
  3. I really think this pitching staff could benefit from more of a piggybacking approach, both to be more effective and limit innings. Miz should not be throwing past the 4th inning at this point, regardless of how he’s looked in the first 4 innings. We’re just not getting the length we need out of the rotation anyway. So why not cap Miz, Woodruff, Gasser, and Fedde/Hall (once he gets stretched back out) at 4 innings each and have two piggyback spots in the rotation? Yeah, you’ll have to go a man down in the pen (we’re a man up right now with the extra guy), but you’ll have your most effective guys and you won’t have to ask as much out of them because you’ll be getting 7-8 innings of length in at least 2 spots in your rotation.
  4. Respectfully can I ask why it bothers you so much? No other team in the Central has any possibility of catching the Brewers. Every Brewer win and Cubs loss subtracts from the magic number. So, I get the perspective. Both results are currently equal contributors toward the Brewer clinching of the division. That’s why people care here.
  5. It’s baseball, but this one will leave a pretty bad taste in your mouth until the next one on Wednesday. Bad loss.
  6. I thought Turner probably checked and Realmuto probably went around. They were both close but neither was egregiously obvious. Still gotta make pitches to the next guy.
  7. Really disheartening to seem destined to go up 7.5 in the division 2 hours ago only to be headed for 5.5 up.
  8. Would it absolutely kill this pitching staff to not put the leadoff man on for free to start every inning ?
  9. Man these innings are frustrating. We get some things going but we don’t sequence it. Get a walk and a hit buuut the two preceding guys struck out.
  10. You could even argue that taking Mona out of the lineup already on Day 1 of Ortiz being back was somewhat questionable.
  11. Cubs got 3 great innings of relief out of Aaron Civale today, because why wouldn’t they.
