    He definitely wasn’t as good as he was in his heyday. But .700 OPS from someone who still fields a position is different than a guy who offers nothing but a bat. At least he was still a 2 WAR player.

    Alcantra has a grand total of 2 strikeouts tonight. Everything else was put into play. Yelich has struck out twice.

    It’s very obnoxious seeing Lara come up, provide good, quality ABs as a rookie, and ride the pine as a 21 year old while Yelich continues to stink up the leadoff spot day in and day out.

    Strike 3 could not have been more middle middle and he flailed at it.

    Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards are probably the greatest middle infield combo that you’ve never heard of.

    That’s dumb if he believes that. Albert Pujols was DFAed. Alex Rodriguez was ushered into retirement. Things change. Being a Brewer legend in your mid to late 20s doesn’t buy you a career pass to the top of the lineup into your mid 30s when Father Time has caught up to you.

    Yeah that’s a good question. It would be straight up just bad roster management to activate him today just to be a man down in the pen for 3-4 days and not start him until the Mets series. So I would have to think he’s pitching out of the pen for now.

    No one else is asking so I feel I must be either dumb or ignorant, so I must remove all doubt by asking this question. Can’t they just improve the situation by … closing the roof?

    I think Fielder maybe has some value for an organization as far as “here is something for our social media team and it should make for some popular bobblehead days in the minors.” Maybe that’s part of the value? It’s almost assuredly not as a future pro.

    As bad as that deal looks sometimes those are also a bit misleading. When a guy gets flipped a few times and then DFAed as Peters was before figuring it out with Chicago, that’s a little different than trading a guy and then watching him blossom. It’s fair to say we missed on Peters but it’s not far off to say that everyone but the White Sox missed on him.

    Fielder is a non prospect. We get two arms that we get a shot to turn around. If it doesn’t work out, easy to cut bait.

    Well hopefully they know what they’re doing here. This guy was good in his heyday but has been injured or disastrous since 2022.

    I think in terms of pure value added for a run, it has to be Drew Rasmussen. What a boost that would be for the rotation and would give us the 1-2-3 that everyone wants in the postseason.

    Can anyone give any good reason that Luis Lara shouldn’t be our leadoff hitter? He gets on base at a ridiculous clip. .432 in Nashville this year, .444 as a Brewer. Yes obviously small sample size, but his minors numbers suggest it isn’t just some flukey walks. Even if he ends up at .375, with his base stealing ability, that’s more than fine.

    Going to be another 1 for 4/5 day for Yeli. Bad by any realistic measurement for a leadoff hitter, and just barely good enough for Murph to think a turnaround is coming and pencil in at the top the first game coming out of the break.

    This game would be kind of interesting if Gasser and Koenig had merely been bad and not disastrous.
