Maybe they are professional, but not at the level the Rampage were.
  2. A Madison gig would require relocation. I'll keep you in mind, Thank you.

I find it perplexing that Milwaukee has gone almost twenty years now without a professional outdoor soccer team.
  4. My 30-year career has been quality engineering in the manufacturing sector, specifically in metal fabrication.
  5. And the answer is....#4! Informed yesterday of the decision. Interestingly, they're talking about keeping me on until the end of June. They would like me to train the next person. He did ask nicely. We'll see about that.
  6. 1. Could be corporate policy. 2. Could be a compliance issue. 3. With new management people in place, they want their own person? 4. Maybe they're just dancing with me until a prettier girl comes along. The backstory is I was pretty much hired on the spot after a twenty-minute phone interview. Sight unseen, no background check. The guy they had before walked off the job the second day and the guy I was replacing was retiring in three days. -- Carried over from the bugging you thread. Had my interview Wednesday. They were more transparent. They are looking to expand the role from an engineering one to more of I would say "quasi-managerial", so they're also looking outside the company. My skills experience for this specific role would likely not match someone they would find through a search. I questioned the timeline, The response was "as long as it takes to find the right person". So I see it as a sign of above #4. Indeed.com gets mentioned a lot here. Time to open an account!
  7. "Lou Grant" as well. I wished one of these oldie channels would show a few old episodes. They show all the other retro shows.
  8. Hockey is my brother's sport. A Habs fan in Jacksonville. On todays family Zoom call, he mentioned looking into flying into Montreal, but tickets are starting at USD 3,8000. I had to remind him the border is still sealed and if he even got in, would have to self-isolate for fourteen days. Explain that to his boss. Um, duh!
  9. After 15 months, finally landed something (albeit a temp to possible perm). Recruiter calls Wednesday...20 minute phone interview Friday...two hours later offer accepted. Plus, will pay better than any previous job. Only if job hunting was that easy. One Call, That's All.
  10. I had a resume and cover letter professionally done in 1999 and still use it. I feel it was a good investment.
  11. Outside the box with this one, but I don't care your gender. Up two goals with 2:24 left in your (NWHL) title game is NOT the time to take a 5-minute major.
  12. She was terrific. I’d put the original 53 episodes of Arrested Development up against any network sitcom of the past 20 years. The rubes just didn’t get it. That show was way ahead of its time. The other thread where you guys talk about binge watching programs, well I'm just not into it. However, if I ever get enough time in my life, two shows - "Arrested Development" and "30 Rock". Didn't get to see enough of it.
  13. I wonder how that single play will rank in Badger Sports lore. Not quite a Darrell Bevell Rose Bowl scamper or Wes Matthews half-court shot. Given women's hockey is not the highest profile, so maybe the next tier?
  14. Nice win for the Badger women. A fast start and hang on. Losing after being up 3-0 would have been devastating. However, not sure they were the better team after the first intermission. Still a win over the Ohio State University is nice in any sport. Title game Saturday night on ESPNU.
  15. Some states use a "past successes" formula where they can bump a team up a division. In the past the WIAA has discussed this option, but tabled it.

  17. Have you thought about just buying an RV? Cheaper than a home and you have more mobility. Stay in WI during the summer and then AZ or FL in the winter. This is basically what I am thinking if I ever retire. Get an RV and just live everywhere in the US. Sounds enticing, but doesn't match my personality. I enjoy exploring new places, but eventually need to return to a home base.
  18. Why sell? I never understood that, but i hear people say it. Unless your plan is to sell now, rent or live with a relative, then wait to buy when the next market dip happens. If not, then you’re just selling your 200k house (that was 130) and buying another 200k house (that used to be 130) or buying a 130k house that used to be 100k. Which presumably is less house than you have currently. If the entire market is going up, unless your plan is to NOT buy a new home, your not really gaining anything besides the headache of moving. OK, my bad. I left out that moving to a rental would be needed to make it pay off. That is why she scoffed at the thought. Plus, we are most likely within ten years of retirement, which means selling anyways and retiring to our TBD forever-city.
  19. Due to Dane County restrictions, they couldn't practice and play as a "team". So somewhere got around it by forming a temp "club". That is the thing I'm surprised the WIAA didn't look into to. When restrictions eased, went back to a team.
  20. That isn't surprising in this market. If I were more brave, I would sell all of my properties right now and then look to buy later after the adjustment. We bought ours for $130K and at one time could have gotten $170K just before the crash, where it dropped to $120K. Now, I could get $200K, if not more. A couple of months ago I mentioned to the wife that if the market starts to drop again, we're selling and cashing in on the profit. I won't make the same mistake twice. She wasn't too happy with the suggestion.
  21. I live in a condo community in Waukesha. Last year, I had six neighbors who had lived here fewer than four years sell their property at a gain that computes to an annual 6%-8%.

  23. I'm with turbo on this one. Maybe because we're from the same generation? Just turn on the TV and click to 31..and the Brewers! Also my eclectic taste in sports, so the niche channels offered get utilized often.
  24. Not necessarily a must see, but this past Friday watched "Brian's Song" completely unaware yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Brian Piccolo's death.
  25. Ringo did indeed pass away over the weekend. And the Bucky on Parade dedicated to him vandalized the next day.
