  1. The Brewer's official Facebook page just put up an article that Suppan has been named the 5th starter.
  2. In eight seasons with Philly Wolf had a 4.21 ERA.
  3. Lopez to sign with the Cardinals. One year deal for roughly $2 million.
  4. The Brewer's tv contract expires after the 2012 season. They should be able to get much more than they are currently getting now. Now would this additional revenue give us a boost on the overall total or would we then recieve less in revenue sharing? Im just wondering if additional revenue from a new tv contract a year after Prince hits free agency will help the Brewers ability to sign him at all.
  5. It has to be Neugebauer for me. I got the guy's autograph at an exhibition game against the White Sox in 2001. I know I still have it stashed somewhere in the house. I also remember watching his first game on TV when he got called up later that year.
  6. Let us know if he writes anything back. This whole report is like they read some rumor on an online blog and then reported it as true. It is so bad I can't even begin to comprehend how it got on the air. If they want a team so bad they should just move the Rays to Orlando.
  7. Did anyone else see Leno interview Kimmel tonight? It was both awkward and amazing at the same time. I have no idea why Jay thought this would turn out well, if there is one thing I like about Jimmy Kimmel, it is that he is never afraid to speak his mind. Kimmel to Jay : "Listen, Jay, Conan and I have children-all you have to take care of is cars. I mean, we have lives to lead here. You've got $800 million, for God's sakes-leave our shows alone." Leno also asked Kimmy what his favorite prank he pulled was Jimmy replied: "The best prank I ever pulled was I told a guy that-five years from now-I'm gonna give you my show. And then when the five years came, I gave it to him, and then I took it back almost instantly."
  8. If Johnny Carson would have had a show right before Jay Leno when he first took over for the Tonight Show, nobody would have watched Leno either. It took Jay two year to beat Letterman in the ratings, and this was helped out by NBC's solid prime time lineup at the time (ER). What is Conan being helped by, Jay's pre- Tonight show "Tonight Show" that has been horriffic?
  9. At least this forces NBC to make a decision, Jay or Conan. I have no doubt it will be Jay, unfortunately. On the bright side, Conan's show should be definitely worth watching from now on since he has nothing to loose anymore by holding back.
  10. I don't find Leno even mildly entertaining, but I am sure people feel the same way about Conan. People are comfortable with Leno because that is what they are used to. I compare it to going back to an ex girlfriend or boyfriend just because being single is new and weird to you. I watched Conan's monologue last night and you could tell in his voice that he is upset and I am now convinced he will leave.
  11. "I remember trying steroids very briefly in the 1989/1990 offseason and then after I was injured in 1993, I used steroids again," McGwire said in his statement. "I used them on occasion throughout the '90s, including during the 1998 season." Got this quote from the article on MSNBC. Did Jose Canseco call this too? I can't remember if in his book he made this claim or not. Mac seems to be putting everything out there and trying to come completely clean. We will have to wait and see if this has any affect on his hall of fame voting.
  12. Well, at least he is admitting it. It took awhile, but I guess better late than never. Wonder if or when Bonds will ever fess up.
  13. It is being reported that Leno's prime time show has been canceled. However, NBC now wants to move Jay back to 10:35 (CT) and give him a half hour show, keep Conan with the tonight show but have him start a half hour later, and also move Jimmy Fallon back. Link IMO, NBC is being very impatient and should just let Leno go. Giving Leno a show right before the Tonight Show is setting Conan up for failure. It took time for people to adjust from Carson to Leno and it will take time to have them adjust to Conan, keeping Leno around is just hindering the process. If I was Conan I would just bolt to Fox or a cable network like Comedy Central. (Can you imagine Stewart, Colbert, and Conan right after another). Hmmm, a 17 year vet who chose to retire and then right when the new guy is about to take over has second thoughts and wants to come back, sounds very familiar!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Arenas is now admitting to pulling out his gun but says he meant to play a joke on his teammate. link I wonder how long of a suspension Stern is going to give him. I bet Washington will use this opportunity to get out of that huge contract.
  15. This happened in the locker room during an altercation over a gambling debt. What morons, both should be thrown out of the league. I guess the feds are now involved in the investigation too. Link
  16. Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L. Shirer. It is a very long book but if you are interested in WWII or history it is extremely thorough.
  17. I am really hoping Bush can bounce back and am glad the Brewers brought him back. He actually pitched pretty well before he got hit with that line drive off his arm but was a mess when he tried to come back later in the season.
  18. Yea I thinking the exact same thing about Sheets. I had read that the Rangers had met with his agent to see how his injury was doing. They must have really soured on Sheets since they had a deal in place last year before they found out he was hurt and probably could have gotten him cheaper than what they paid for Harden.
  19. Yes I do. Link I remember specifically the DNR coming out before the 2008 deer season saying that there is a record number of deer in the state only having to eat crow when the deer kill total was down roughly 25%. Can you really believe the DNR when they tell everyone that there is a record number of deer in the state when most of the state had earn a buck several years in a row? Most of the counties that don't have earn a buck are chosen not because of the actual deer numbers but becuase their local state representative do not want it in thier county, this was told to me by someone within the DNR. If hunters wouldn't have raised such a big fuss there would have been yet another earn a buck this year too. Most people I talked to barely seen any deer and the opening weekend deer kill in my county was down 46%. The last few years have left me scratching my head over what the DNR is doing and what their intentions are. Also that is a nice buck bigjase.
  20. I live in MN and I heard on the news last night that the Twins plan on building a statue of Mauer in front of their new stadium. Any one else find this odd since he may not be playing for them soon?
  21. Thiat would be amazing, but with Boras, I'm not going to hold my breath. If they lock him up I would worry about our ability to add pitching through free-agency.
  22. I am leaving today but I have to go back monday for class. This is literally my favorite weekend in the whole year, I don't even look forward to Christmas or any other holiday this much. I am very thankful there is no earn a buck this year either.
  23. Once again, another great interview. I always thought Junior was very quiet while he was on the Brewers, I guess now I don't blame him after the "I'm devistated" incident. I can't believe he is only 34 yet, maybe he can pull a Gabe Kapler and get another shot somewhere. Also very interesting was his observations on the Brewers before and after Doug Melvin.
  24. I just caught this on msnbc, link. Apparently he is going through a skin rejuvination process and this is a condition of it. While I am assuming this is a temporary side effect, my first thoughts immediatly were of Michael Jackson.
  25. By doing what? Giving up a shortstop that hit so terribly that he was sent to the minors in August and a 37 year old CF who hit .250 last year and .243 the year before that? Give Gomez or Gerut regular playing time and I am pretty confident that they will combine to hit .250, and if they don't at least they aren't making the salary that Cameron would be.
