    I can't find any article where he's announced this is his last year. Is this inside info? He's under contract for $9.375 million for 2009. That's a lot but Suppan is owed $12.5 million in each of 2009 and 2010 and Washburn has put up better numbers in a league with a DH. What kind of pitching do you think is out there? Besides who's talking long run? I'm talking half a season this year, and next year with no huge long term money tied up. Considering loss of Gallardo this year, the fact that Capuano can no longer figure in 2009, the potential loss of Sheets, and no obvious prospect ready by 2009, they will need to add pitching from somewhere. Yeah you could say "inside" information lol. It came out of his mouth when I was talking to him lol.

    TWR, I'm usually right with you on your posts (especially those pertaining to the subject of your username), but you missed a detail here. . . . Kendall never signed with the Cubs. He was traded from Oakland to Chicago for Michael Barrett. Nope. Barrett was traded to San Diego for C Rob Bowen.     I agree with everything Owen has said. I feel like this, Gagne can still be a good pitcher, its just sometimes he thinks(most of the time) he can still blow people away with his fastball. He will get behind 2-0 or something and then throw a cookie right down the middle and players like Corey Patterson or Paul Bako take him deep. For Gagne to be a good closer this year I think he needs to control his change up. Gagne still has a decent fastball but his fastball can't bail him out like it used to. He needs to learn to mix up more of his pitches and THROW STRIKES WITH HIS CURVE BALL AND CHANGE UP. When Gagne throws strikes with all 3 of his pitches he is still a good closer. It feels like this year he is trying way to hard to pin point all his pitches and they are going all over the place. And then when it does not work, he goes back to his fastball and the hitters know its coming.

    Washburn will be retiring after this year, so in the long run it won't work. And I really don't like him that much.
