Link Report for Games of Wednesday, April 14th

Not sure what happened but Drew Anderson was replaced by Gilberto Acosta fairly early...like 2nd or 3rd inning. Moreira was looking sharp. Except for a dinger to Terry Evans. Evans is a cf...knocks the crap out of it. Guilder Rodriguez....the man keeps getting on base and no bunt hits either. Vinny with some nice hitting tonight. Atta boy Vinny. Nothing really stands out to me. The homer by Parker in the top of the ninth was with 2 outs and an absolute shot to centerfield. How long till a Snapper hits a homer? 6 games and counting. Oh and this is the first game with no errors. Keep that up boys. Perfect night for baseball and not a huge crowd....come on out folks. -

Peoria (Cardinals), Beloit 2 Beloit Site Game Summary and Player of the Game Info: www.snappersbaseball.com/...34f15433af From Madbad: Snappers lose 4-2...not a cold, cold night but just chilly. Great night for baseball. BAD NEWS: Show up at the stadium and Moss is walking on crutches and in a walking cast. Not sure of the injury but I heard out a month. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif The good...Drew Anderson had a nice triple in the first that set up first run. Hell of a shot that bounced in right center just at the base of the wall. Started out nice but ended bad tonight. Pena looked great. Came out firing and looked great start to finish...aside from a balk. Dillard came in after Pena and looked ok at first then fell apart. Got hit hard. Beresford came in and looked pretty good. His breaking ball was wicked. Lou got robbed on a steal attempt. Throw was high and he came in low. Ump was right on top of it and made a horrible call. Lou was already coming UP from his slide when tagged. Terry Evans for Peoria is a man among boys with the stick. Hit a dinger yesterday and roped a double tonight. He's hit everything hard. The third baseman for Peoria tonight #8 Mike McCoy has a hell of an arm. Made some fine stabs and throws. He was able to make a diving stop and still throw out Terry "Truffles" at first. Not an easy thing to do I guarantee. No love from the D tonight as Peoria played great defense all around and it showed on the scoreboard. Robbed the Snappers of quite a few hits as the SS and 3b brought their gloves tonight. Captain Lou DH'd today and to answer Kraft's question...that is only the 2nd time Lou has dh'd in 5 games. It's a way to get Marks in the game as he is the superior defender and it keeps Lou's bat in there. Beloit Box Score: Lou Palmisano's .619 OBP is 2nd in the league... I was talking with the strength and conditioning coach about the rotation and he stated that the fifth spot they would be trying some things. Which I took to mean some sort of piggybacking. Someone mentioned Pena tonight and mass has a possibility of Dillard. Wouldn't be surprised to see both. -

Patrick, Kloosterman reminded me a lot of Manny Parra in that he has pretty good control, fluid motion repeated the same time after time. The stat line wasn't pretty but as I mentioned in my report it was cold, really cold and he had to come out while the Snappers were scoring their 5 runs in the bottom of the first to warm up/stretch out. The first inning was a breeze for him. After that he was just missing a little high. The thing that got me was that he had 2 strikes on a lot of those players. Just missing the corners and not getting the calls is all. My theory is that the umps loosened up later in the game as the cold was getting to them too. Look at the boxscore and you'll see Durost had 5 ks, Grybash 4 and only one walk for both. I mean it seriously took like 2 hours for the first 4 innings or so. Pitchers sitting around getting stiff not only because of so many runs but also pitching changes. Lend D Money, Moss was more aggressive...he was actually swinging the bat and surprise was making contact. He was doing well until the injury. Guilder had a bunt single (so did Truffles). Guilder actually ripped a couple good ones. Sprayed one into the gap in left center that scored a couple. I agree though he is a lot like Bibbs and Santana. Palmisano....can't remember if he pulled any. His double was a heck of a shot to right center. I was surprised the centerfielder for Peoria was even in range of it. I agree he does hit a lot to opposite field. During bp I was roaming center and he jacked one out. Impressive as it was really windy and blowing to right. Not sure if this is a bad sign or not but the Chiefs right fielder was playing very shallow and robbed us of a couple of hits. (Moss I believe was one of them). I should start a poll to see when and who will be the first Snapper player to hit a dong. -

Snappers win 10-4 on a cold, cold night in Beloit... Kloosterman looked great..once again looks like a Snapper pitcher hit hard after a long delay. Snappers scored 5 in the first. It took like 2 hours for the first 3 innings. Kloosterman looks the best in form and control so far out of the three starters I've seen (Montalbo, Eveland, Kloos). Lou Palmisano is a man-child. He walks, he hits, he steals. He keeps impressing me game after game. Steve Moss goes down with an injury in the 2nd/3rd?!?!? Afterwards it was found out it was a twisted ankle. Looked scary as it was a routine ball that dropped in front of him. Bounced up and then the throw in tweaked it. He dropped and yelled instantly. He walked off a few minutes later and was replaced by Deevers. Should be fine folks. Drew Anderson has the second prettiest swing on the Snappers roster. A very enjoyable evening as there was like 75 people there on a cold cold cold night. Keep an eye on Taubenheim. There is something about a guy who not only enjoys what he's doing but has a visibly good time doing it. Also helps that he's the closer. Terry "Truffles" is amazingly fast. Bunt single tonight and a steal, and a hit later on. Very fun to watch. I don't get Wisconsin fans....they'll sit through freezing/below zero temps to watch the Packers or Badgers but to get out to the stadium to watch some baseball won't be done. That's 2 free dishes of custard in 3 games for me. Keep it up Snappers. -

Manny Ramirez picked off third in the 4th -- ugh. The batting averages here are off... Actually...not really Manny's fault...I believe it was Guilder Rodriguez on First and Manny on third...pitcher change....Guilder went a shade early and the pitcher threw to first and then the first baseman threw to 2nd....Manny went on the ensuing rundown...throw home ... Manny caught....had a possible chance to go back to third...went home and was gone. Actually it was Guilder's "fault" for leaning and Money's for sending Manny. Montalbo looked pretty good. Captain Lou...I hope it's the cold as the Swing stole on him 3 out of 4 times.....Lou sent 2 into the outfield and the other bounced up and the guy on the bag had to pull up to stop it. The guy he threw out had a horrible jump...he ran on the pitch before...then got a bad jump as he was covering for a pick off attempt. Didn't look good. His bat was looking good. Murray....hit the longest shot of the year so far for the snappers. A foul ball down the third base line...well foul but cleared the second level of advertising by a lot. Still seems confused at plate otherwise. Stevie Moss...swing the bat man...swing the bat. Trofholz is fast...very fast. Nice night for a game at the park...not TOO cold. A fun time all around. Well some notes: Pretty sloppy game overall. Eveland got a bum deal, on a cold night...bottom of I believe the 3rd....we started hitting the Swing and they changed pitchers. Dana had to go to third base side and get stretched out. He was looking pretty good up till then. Palmisano looked great. They ruled his first "hit" an error on Span but I felt it should have been a double. Stole third base and then came home on a sac fly that was close. Lou impressed me not only with his speed but also his technique as he was sliding wide on both attempts and that helped him get in there safe. Trofholz is incredibly fast. Bottom 8th perfect bunt single to get on....would have beat out a nice throw to second on his steal attempt and then made it to third on past ball. Scored a few pitches later on a spiked pitch that bounced onto the net behind home...nicely done. Moss terrible night...can't go down looking...I believe he K'd like 3 times...all looking. Also made a diving attempt at a well hit ball...came up short but at least he went for it. Murray didn't look good either...great arm in field...looked like he had no clue what pitches were coming and was hacking like a lumberjack. Remember folks he's the youngest player out there. I think I'm latching on to Drew Anderson as a favorite. Not so much what he did but similarities...close in height, weight, age and he also throws right and bats lefty as I do. Has a nice approach at the plate. Swing of the Quad Cities....horrible nickname...weird jerseys....Batting practice jersey's powder blue, road game uniforms a burnt orange color...I took some snapshots and I'll send them off to Brian to post maybe. For the record I like their unis. All in all a fun night although did get a little chilly after being outside in 40 degree weather for 3 hours. Great to have baseball back. -
College player update thread 2
madbad2000 replied to colbyjack's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
I know several people with the Brewers have stated that they would like to get a college pitcher, but I hope they haven't ruled out the possibility of a prep arm. There are 2 really good ones that could be had, as 11 pointed out, we shouldn't be scared of the long-term results if our scouts think they're legit. Amen Patrick (and 11), don't be scared just because the guy is a prep. I'm intrigued by Adenhart and am becoming a bigger fan as the spring goes on. -

Good call Lend. I would be interested to hear about the top prospects for OTHER teams in the Midwest League. I'm going to be there tonight and would be interested in meeting other Brewerfan Snapper fans. I'll probably be sitting third base side near the picnic tables. Have my yellow snappers cap on and pretty tall (6'3"). Don't be afraid to stop by. Michael -

I highly recommend going as it's a great time and a chance to put some faces with the screen names. Even if you're just a lurker come out and have a good time. All you can eat or drink & Snappers baseball....can't pass that up. Also keep in mind that you don't HAVE to attend both. Just coming down to Beloit on Sunday or meeting at the Keg on Saturday is just fine as well. -

Lend, I think you just made my point that it hardly matters who our affiliate is, as most of us had no idea our franchise had worse seating than my high school. Which is it Al? In another post you were clamoring about how we missed out because Apple-ton reupped with Seattle. Which is it? -

Well put lend d money...actually I think I saw you late last night waiting for Pedro I believe...I wasn't sure if that was you and at the risk of looking like a dumb*** I didn't come up. I agree I'm not as high on Gwynn. I thought the play last night that sealed it was a popout to left....man on 3rd....gwynn races over and makes the catch in front of kenard. Only problem was tony was racing back and had to catch it over his shoulder, then turn and try to gun the runner down....ball sails way high. He should have let Kenard take it and catch it coming in and with momentum make the toss. Kenard has a plus arm and would have had a better chance. I still like his chances and I can easily believe tony is tired after a long season. Just not as high as say Dave even with his struggles. -

Tough tough game to lose. Snappers had a hell of a year. Play of the game. Top of the 9th. Their DH is on 2nd and he's pinch ran for. One out. Pop up foul right field side by fence/on deck area. Rickie makes a hell of a grab for out two....runner trys to advance....Rickie with a bullet to third to nail the guy by 10 feet. Amazing. One of the greatest throws I've ever seen. Honorable mention: Snappy is by 3rd base side playing "catch" with some kids 6, 7, 8.....a little 2 year old girl comes up and has a ball. She's about a foot away from Snappy and the girl is about to give the ball to Snappy when "bam" she chucks it off Snappy's eye. Absolutely hilarious. Snappers blow HUGE chance: Botom of ninth...tied at 2...bases juiced and only one out. Gwynn up to the plate with 5 infielders.....grounds to first...throws home...2 outs....for Prince......grounds out to end chance to win it. Terni with a huge error in top of tenth that led to eventual lead(winning) run...grounder to Chas....bobbles once.....still a chance for a play....bobbles it again off his hands and he drops it. I don't get it....there is nothing about this guy that impresses me...other than his heroism against wisconsin.....throw callix out there....somebody This game was still fun although we should have won it and congrats to Lansing for hanging in there and getting the W. -
Link Report for Monday 9/8 - Two Deciding Home Games
madbad2000 replied to MassBrew's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Great game for the Snappers. Some notes I made: Dennis pitched well. Congrats to him....some guy named buddy clocked dennis throwing 102, a season high....I question his accuracy as he was wearing tinfoil and using a nacho chip as a radar gun. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif 2nd inning was all Prince. Top half one out, men on 1st and 2nd.....liner towards right...Prince leaps...makes the grab and then doubles up the runner to end the inning. Bottom half Prince hits a TOWERING shot to right that comes down and hits the right field foul pole for a homer. 3rd inning Gwynn and Prince with rbi singles. TH had a nice rip in the 4th to right center for a double. Runner up play of the game in the 6th....Dennis Sarfate picks a guy off first. What made it special was how quickly he did it....he was non chalantly getting ready to step onto the rubber and spins and nails the guy who was a sitting duck. Unfair play of the game in the 8th.....guy lines a single to center.....bounces once, twice, and tony kneels to stop it and on the third dribble it shoots up off either a hole or a bump or something in center and bounces OVER Tony in center all the way to the wall. Runner on third and Tony charged with an error. Chas Terni sucks. I know he was a playoff hero but so was Jim Leyritz. The guy made an error in the 8th inning. One out and runner on 3rd. Grounder and a horrible throw to first that pulled Fielder off the bag. Run scores and only one out. Same inning...2 outs runner on 1st. Terni gets a grounder to short again....the throw to Rickie at second.......LOW and to Rickie's weak side so he had to try and backhand it while switching his momentum....lucky to knock it down really. Luckily Hall came in and induced a popout to end it. Rickie's arm is phenomenal. Now if his bat could heat up say in the next 3 days http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Great game Snappers and congrats on a Western Division Championship...lets add another MWL Championship as well. -

Link Report for Sunday 9/7 - Three One-Run Victories!
madbad2000 replied to MassBrew's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
First off great game by the Snappers. Some of my notes for the game. The homeplate umpire had a VERY small strike zone. VERY small. Which led to Carpenter being chased early as he was throwing too many balls and Money moved on to Henderson. Hinton made a nice catch in right field early on. Ball hit to Right center and Hinton came over and made a nice sliding catch. It'd be nice to have a corner of prospect with some power to go with Nelson. Here's to Travis and improving along the way. 1st inning easy steal by Bibbs. Crabbe walked....Double steal nicely executed. I don't care what anyone says but having base stealing threats like Bibbs, Crabbe, Gwynn, Weeks makes a world of difference on the offense. Once Bibbs was on base the pitcher was constantly looking over there which led to a 3-0 count on Crabbe and subsequently put him on base. Happened all game. Pedro had a horrible error in the first as he tried to pick a guy off first and the ball was about 10 feet over Prince's head AFTER he jumped. Runner advanced to 3rd and eventually scored. Eric Henderson pitched nicely as he came in, bases loaded no outs and proceeded to induce a popout, K, and popout to get out of the jam. Last popout was a foul ball over towards the Deck area and Prince ran it down and backpeddled to make a tough catch on a slicing ball. 4th inning Henderson had a pick off....turned into a run down with Prince making a nice fake to 2nd and the runner ran into Prince's arms. Forrest Martin deserves player of the game nod as he was on fire. K Martin as some call him. Crabbe really worked the count every at bat drawing a couple walks. The 2nd base umpire had a horrible game....twice he made bum calls. Pedro tried stealing 2nd.....was beat by a few steps but the 2 bagger never tagged him. Crabbe attempted a steal and it was close....Callix slide in and the 2nd bagger caught the ball....and basically just swung his arm and the ump called him out. There was about a foot and a half in between his glove and Callix. Horrible call. Hall came in and was lights out.....Terni made a great play. He charged a light hit grabbing the ball on the edge of the grass bare handed and tossed to Prince for the 2nd out. Nice play. 50/50 is rigged...has to be. Best chicken dance goes to.......Goofy Joe! Best haul goes to my cousin Jordon (Little Farley) as he got gum, a ball and a t-shirt. Also a Cecil sighting. Good luck Dennis tomorrow and Go Snappers. -

SHORTHANDED: The Indians have 14 pitchers on the roster and only 10 position players. Several of the position players are banged up. In fact, during Saturday night's game, starting pitcher Pasqual Coco pinch hit for the designated hitter in the sixth inning. Three Tribe pitchers batted in all going 1-for-3. Don't let this slip through the crack as it was very entertaining to watch. Delgado (DH) hurt himself during his final at bat and next time through we were amazed to see coco's jersey swinging in the on deck circle. He whiffed but still fun. Next time around it was little Shane Nance's turn...he had a called third strike that was at his eyes. In all fairness to the ump, it WOULD have been a strike on any other hitter but being shorter was eye level for shane. Matt Childers was the next...er victim but he took the first pitch offering and lined it to left. Nice swing that Childers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif -
That and whoever he wants we don't draft....so maybe playing the reverse game...say one thing....want the opposite. Smart man that patrick. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
