  1. Are the Area Code Games open to the public?
  2. Colby, when and where are the Area Code Games?
  3. Here's an interesting idea...why not take a chance on an uber talent like that and play some hard ball. If he doesn't sign, then we get the pick after that one for next year. Kind of a way to either A: sign a top talent that fell...or B: Pay the pick forward to next year...have 5 picks this year and then 3 next instead of 2 (tentatively). I'd rather get the player in the system and developing, but still...risk reward.
  4. I came across this interesting player when checking in on my hometown Snappers. The dude is a 7'1" tall relief pitcher. Got me thinking of who is the tallest in baseball. This guy has to be up there. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Loek%20Van%20Mil&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=503441
  5. Reed, check out the latest Power 50 for the staffs viewpoints on Lucroy.
  6. $1 was always a good haul....but in today's market with gas prices what they are...3 bucks would be good....or how about a Brewer related item like a pin or mini-bobble.
  7. I'm working "third shift" right now and did it for many years. I had good success doing this pattern. After your last night of work for the week (say Friday night), get about a 4 hour nap in on Saturday sometime before 5-6 pm. That way you are awake for most of the day time hours that everyone else is on. That night go to sleep like a normal person. Next day (Sunday), you are awake and then go to sleep like normal people. Monday wake up like normal and do whatever...I saved all my errands for Monday like laundry and grocery shopping so that you maximize your time on the weekend. Plus, shopping on Monday is great because everyone is at work. Take a nap that ends just before you work....so if you work at 9 pm....take a 4-5 hour nap that ends with you waking up at 8 or 8:30 pm, getting ready and heading to work. On a schedule like this you have a somewhat normal weekend that you can spend with your day working family and friends, can catch the games you want to see and even go out on Saturday night if you want. The nap on Monday night gets you rested enough to fully function on your first night of the week and allows you to be tired enough to sleep your full 8 hours during the day on Tuesday. It may sound rough but I've found that 4 hours is enough to get by and be fully functioning...once you get past 5 hrs and before 7 then I get tired and sluggish. Being in the Army has really helped me appreciate my sleep and has also given me a better understanding of my sleep patterns. As for your eating problem, all I can suggest is get on a schedule. If you do something like what I do, then it's easier to plan your meals with your sleep and be on a "schedule". That's the biggest key....get a rotation of food/sleep and go from there without interrupting your sleep and eating schedule drastically. Everything else will fall into place and your body will adjust to it and you'll find yourself less tired. Hope that helps.
  8. Anchorman for sure.... Zoolander Recent film that I loved.... Hot Rod...very funny.
  9. Well then let me vote for them to get a team in California! JK, except not really. The low-A moved to West Virginia for a few reasons. The biggest of which was probably facilities. Beloit's facilities aren't up to par with most minor league teams. For instance, I thought I heard the complaint that the Snappers had only one training table. Also, Pohlman field is often looked down upon. The field isn't always in the greatest shape, the stands are small, smaller crowds, etc. I personally enjoy watching games in Beloit because there is a feeling that you're closer to the game and players. Plus I hate large crowds when truly watching a game in person. The Power were getting a brand new stadium/facilities, draw pretty well and an added bonus play in the Sally League with a lot of locations that are much warmer in the spring than the Midwest. While Appleton has a nice stadium and is a nice place to watch a game, I'm not sure what the Brewers truly value in terms of their minor league facilities. If weather is up there, not likely they are coming back to Midwest League. Other than that, it's a possibility and if you live in that area...keep hope alive. Since I'm out West in Cali, doesn't affect me either way personally.
  10. I also vote for the snows in october with a kudos to the "when it's time to vent, turn on the fan".
  11. That looks like a guy i've seen on MXC. Or Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds.
  12. I like the miller park shirt...well done. Also, I think acquired is spelled with a c slobberknocker.
  13. I liked the Diet Pepsi Max one as well. But the best....the car commercial (toyota?) that had the badger inside and the cannon couldn't be heard but the cell phone rang. Good stuff and even better being a badger fan.
  14. Does anyone have any other interesting sites that I can waste time on? Now that I'm back online pretty regularly, I need to find some other time consumers besides Brewerfan.net. Lets see where other members spend their time.
  15. It's tough to post all the benefits/perks of military life: Free health care/dental, no housing costs, plus 500 K of life insurance uber cheap. Military discounts at a ton of places....Chilis at my current station is 50% off while in uniform. Gotta love that Most airlines will upgrade you to 1st class if not full on your flight. 30 days of vacation per year off the top. All federal holidays off. Gotta love 3 and 4 days. Get to travel around and see the world. Plus we can get flights for free to anywhere the military flies. Sign On, Reenlistment Bonuses Ton of money for college through GI Bill and Tuition assistance. Also love the fact that people everywhere come up and thank me for doing my job.
  16. Around 40 players take part in each session. Most are on "scholarship," and are provided an apartment as well as travel expenses and meal money. Which players weren't on scholarship for this event? Seems kind of odd to make some players pay out of pocket.
  17. Guilty as charged. Project Runway is great and can't help watching it. Love all the Bravo shows pretty much. Just something about how creative they are really gets me.
  18. Honestly I didn't even read motherships post. I think it should be banned though.
  19. BCU I edited your language. Once again, family board...that includes curse words. Responses like this don't garner much respect from anyone. The best method is to just ignore comments. Shooting back like this doesn't make you come across any better. It is only the self fullfilling prophesy. I know it's hard but turning the other cheek does work. I know I still have to work on that at times as well.
  20. What I think is funny in this whole debate is that Brewerfan.net as a whole has somehow been linked to being Branyan lovers. I'm a staff member and contribute to the site in more ways then posting. I do not like Russell Branyan. The guy has massive power and that's about it. If you post a negative Branyan thread, guess what...I probably agree with you. The topic has been discussed ad nauseum for well over a year and it's behind everyone (well should be anyways). The problem that is coming out more and more is that people are feeling like they are being singled out because of a so called "Old Boys" society here at Brewerfan. Guess what, it doesn't exist. New members are more then welcome. Heck, we wouldn't go through such great lengths and costs (money, time, etc) to bring new people here if we didn't want new people. It would be just as easy to have a password protected site and invite-only forums if that were the case. If you are feeling singled out, send Brian an email to webmaster@brewerfan.net and I guarantee he'll respond and act professionally through the whole thing (as long as you do). The only thing we ask for here at Brewerfan is to have a civil discussion on the Brewers. This is a family site as Brewer fans come in all sizes and ages. We could care less about what your ideas are on the Brewers as long as you discuss/defend them in the proper manner. Locking threads is to cut down on repetition and to stop a thread from going downhill. We've been doing this for a long time, it's not a new thing. We welcome everyone to the Brewerfan.net family.
  21. Thanks for the report plowjockey. I saw Miller pitch last year and liked what I saw of him. The way he was pitching was similar to a Parra or Eveland. Not just because they are all lefties.
  22. I'll chip in a few bucks for whomever wishes to paint Brewerfan.net on their chest. 50% less for on the face. Proceeds double if you get on tv.
  23. That was simply amazing. What was also pretty sweet in that clip, the whole time on the ticker at the bottom in reads "Wisconsin Wins Men's Ice Hockey Title." Just a great day all around.
  24. He's a healthy 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and looks like papa. Oh come now, Patrick's not THAT short! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Congrats Patrick and Kathryn!
  25. From what I understand....it's either after high school, 3 years later if you attend a 4 year university (after Junior year) or you can re-enter after 1 or 2 years if you go to a JUCO.
