    I think some problems arise when certain pitchers get in the mind set of "just don't screw up". Some guys know there is a high probability they won't get a positive outcome in a pick off and only a negative can come in the throw.

    I don't know if it's been talked about a lot but I get the feeling Melvin is going to take care of the pitching problem in the organization this off season with the trade of Prince Fielder. If LaPorta keeps raking and maybe a move to LF for Gamel and Hart to CF. Let Sheets walk, get a lot of young talented arms this off season and Yo becomes our new #1. Totally off base?

    Scenario #1: What is close game? 5-2; 3-2? And was Hall having a great game in the batter's box and perhaps Yost was trying to get Billy back on track Scenario #2: Was Branyan a substitution for Hall? How many lefties did the opposition have in the pen, maybe Yost wanted to burn their lefty? Scenario #3: Melvin's poor bullpen acquisitions this off season are the reason why we lost those games not outfield personnel. Gold Glove Cameron also was watching good outfielder Kapler actually hit the ball something he hasn't been able to do as of late.

    I take it you've seen Crabbe play. What does he bring to the table that you like?

    I' m sure your critique of Hunt is far more significant than mine (at least it's apparent you think so) but I like that his columns aren't dry and he attempts to fill his columns with some humor and contemporary references. I'm not a daily reader of Hunt's columns by any means but the pieces I have read he sticks to the topic and uses plenty of evidence/anecdotes to support whatever argument he's making.

    I like Mike Hunt's writing style not always the substance.

    Witrado has baseball knowledge, he's just not a very good writer, and in my opinion he seems to be a fan first and reporter second. Don't know how many were aware of this but Witrado was drafted by the Marlins out of high school. They were stacked at his position and he was by no means a super prospect, so he just went to school instead ... but he does know the sport. You can play high school ball and still have a lot to learn about the game like myself out of high school. Maybe I'm wrong but he doesn't seem to get into the pointed details of the game. Then again like I said I've only read a few of his columns.

    A lot of MU fans were vexed over Lori Nickel's work as MU beat writer. UWM grad Todd Rosiak has been great as her replacement, imo.

    I will agree that Witrado's articles don't pop out at me like "wow, now this kid is a prodigy". He just seems like an average writer with little baseball knowledge. But I'm willing to give him some time to feel him out more.

    Milwaukee's been very good to Bill Hall too, TJones. We're paying him a lot of money and if he isn't producing he should at least find another way to help the team whether in platoon or supporting other guys. He shouldn't be bailing on the organization. He needs to look in the mirror.

    Only downside: We've got young guys watching how this plays out. If we trade Hall right away the organization will keep getting pushed into a corner by players through the media. It doesn't put Doug in an advantageous position.

    This meat crap might have gotten into his head. Since baseball players are famously superstitious it surprised me that Prince made any diet changes after his huge year.
