  2. Second the missing of the County Stadium bleachers. Only place where you could literally kick back and take in a game with buddies. There was also dynamite access to the opposing team's bullpen. I'm pretty sure my crew won about 2-4 games a year in the late 90's for The Crew through our unending harassment of the opposing team's relievers. I know I'm on Billy Wagner's hit list for sure.
  3. I'm not seeing any drastic difference in the way Hardy is being pitched. The only difference I see is instead of hitting the fastball middle-in 500 ft he's topping it to third base. Is it because he is tired and his body is not primed for a 162 game season? I don't know, I'm leaning that way. But I've never played 162 games of baseball in a 6 month span so I don't know the wear on the body. I do remember hearing a quote from him a couple weeks back where he said something to the effect he just doesn't feel strong up at the plate.
  4. You can tell how Miller and Estrada differ. I prefer Miller's style. Particularly I like how Miller attacks the hitters up stairs once a pitcher gets up 2 strikes. That was very effective for Doug Davis and Dave Bush. I notice Estrada doesn't really make an attempt to use the high fastball as a strikeout option.
  5. Look at what Melvin has given Maddux to work with in the bullpen the past few years. Cordero is about the only quality arm he's given him. There's only so much a coach can do but if you go down the list it seems most scrap heap relievers he has been given have gone on to over-achieve while in Milwaukee.
  6. JJ needs to hit some weights in the off season and get his body in shape for a 162 game season which he hasn't completed in quite some time. IMO, that is the crux of his problem after his first 60 games. He needs to work on his strength and conditioning much more in the off season.
  7. I've been pretty patient with Weeks but he hasn't shown he can hit in the big leagues for a protracted period of time as of yet. I'd give him another week or two and if this continues send him down and make him earn his way back to the big club. I don't know if this is a confidence/emotions issue, i.e., he gets too jacked up during at bats, or not but his swing has progressively worsened since he first got called up. It's getting close to Graffy time.
  8. Is that some sort of reverse jinx you're doing? Because sorry man, I'm not rooting for a Turnbow-esque meltdown from our four best players.
  9. I'm busting out my Latin Cappy vodoo doll. No mercy from me.
  10. Was Ryan Howard in the Hr Run derby last year? If so sign Prince up. Congrats to these guys as they deserve it. Hopefully a sign things are changing and better things are to come.
  11. I guess what we ultimately got out of Capellan was just justice. After all we made Brave's fans suffer through a year of Dan Kolb. POC trade all around.
  12. I don't think a pitcher is ever thinking "dang, Fielder is up next I better groove one to Ryan Braun". I hope our pitchers treat everyone the same and focus on hitting the designated spot with each pitch on each hitter. And I think they do in 99.5% of the time. (that's an approximation of course http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )
  13. Because humans are creatures of habit and comfort.
  14. ChicagoBrewfan, I'll buy those two tickets for 90 bones. Who do I have to get in contact with? Shoot me an email at bjames85@hotmail.com.
  15. While I see your point and agree somewhat this is still baseball. You pick the ball up and throw it to a spot. It's not like he's going to go through overload and assume the fetal position on the mound because he's coming in in the sixth.
  16. Villanueva better not be closing next year. That would be an extreme waste to limit his innings to that tune, imo. Melvin's going to have purchase a set-up man/closer either this offseason or hopefully this summer yet. Either that or give the job to T-bow and pray to the baseball gods his psyche doesn't fall apart for half the year again. I'm much more comfortble with option A.
  17. I agree with you, go with the hot hand. Let em get six guys out. And don't put T-bow in with a one run lead.
  18. How about Bush. Perfect set up man.
  19. Your boy better keep it up because the crew is 11-2 when Vargas toes the rubber. It might be bye bye Bush. I kind of want to see your meltdown now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. After seeing Yo the last two outings it doesn't seem like too difficult of a decision. Trade Vargas/Bush and Capellan and prospect if needed for set up man. Hopefully we can find a dance partner.
  21. what brewmann said.
  22. I don't mind putting T-bow in with a 2+ run lead, it gives us time for damage control but not with a one run lead. I hope Melvin goes after a set up man/2008 closer this year still.
  23. Get a set up man who we can rely on next year as the closer and don't have to worry about blowing up for half a year.
  24. That a baby T-bow. Cost this team another game.
  25. Picking Rogers over Bailey was the biggest head scratcher I've seen by Jack Z since he's been here. I remember being very upset we didn't pick Bailey at the time, the consensus (well almost I guess) #1 high school pitcher among scouts.
