I think a successful WC team is one who looks successful, who dominates who they should dominate and not one who holds the lead against teams with inferior talent for 4 minutes out of about 300 minutes total. I'm excited that Bradley is gone, I just hope that US Soccer doesn't go with a "meh" candidate.
Lopez is horrible and he's a total dipwad in the clubhouse. I cannot believe they are bringing him back. He's been run out of more clubhouses than.... well... anyone.
Blue Jays: Colby Rasmus, Mark Teahen, Brian Tallet, Trever Miller, P.J. Walters Cardinals: Octavio Dotel, Mark Rzepczynski, Edwin Jackson, Cory Patterson White Sox: Jason Frasor, Zach Stewart Per fangraphs.
Let's use WPA then. Win probability added. This takes game leverage situations into account. Season totals (now, this is hitting only, does not include horrible defense): McGeheee -1.53, Betancourt: -1.99, Loe -1.79. So, purely on their terrible hitting alone, McGehee and Betancourt have cost the Brewers twice as much as Loe.
That's not true. Braun won ROY in 2007. They went to the playoffs in 2008, due to the veteran grittiness of Mike Cameron, Russel Branyan, Ray Durham and Crazy Joe Dillon.
Posting to casuals is fun. They have no clue what they are talking about, yet have all the answers. Casuals? Yes, us casual fans who watch, listen and post about almost every game all season long.
Rolen's LD% is right in line with his career numbers, his BABIP is .262 (career .306). His BB% is down a lot as well, but that will probably bounce back up. Casey's LD% is down, his FB % is down (resulting in less doubles and HR) and his GB% is way up. Just not a good sign for things going forward.
When I played in HS, at smaller tournaments, overtimes were two x 10 minutes and you played 10v10, no goalkeeper (you could put someone in the net, but they couldn't use their hands). That would be a crazy thing to do on the world stage, but I could see them going to something like 8vs8 in a second OT, then penalty kicks after that. Who knows.
1) Gomez -- He is like a Labrador out there. Chasing down everything, and never slowing down. 2) Weeks -- His ABs are must watch for me, and watching him hit 1B on a ball to right center.... pedal to the metal, cruising for third... Run, Rickie, Run. 3) Morgan -- Maybe its morbid curiosity, maybe its.... AHHH I GOTTA GO!
No, this is not true at all. The managers job should be putting the players in the best position to succeed as a team. I will complain and hammer the manager when he does this, whether the players produce in those situations or not. When you have 4 or 5 good hitters and they are not hitting 1-5 in the lineup, in favor of Mark Kotsay or Carlos Gomez, that is not putting your team in the best position to succeed. Kameron Loe facing talented LHB's, is not putting your team in the best position to succeed, even if he strikes Helton or Votto out, I would still complain. Results are separate from decision making.
A sad result for the ladies. They squandered about 15 good opportunities in the first 20 minutes, and then got a beautiful first goal (on another beautiful ball by Rapinoe). They really should've been up 2 or 3 at that point. They completely stopped playing the ball wide, which seemed to generate a scoring chance every time they did. The US had no business losing the game.
Why must groups of people hold hands to follow one another? Me or my friends, even my female friends, never did this growing up. Now, constantly, I see anywhere from 5 to 20 people holding hands to follow one another, just getting in everyone's way. If I've had a few Lite beers by Miller, sometimes I even try to join the conga line.
So, if you want context, you use WPA (Win probability Added) Over the season worst WPAs: YuniB: -2.07 Casey McGehee -1.14 Erick Almonte -1.04 Wil Nieves -0.90 Craig Counsell -0.80 ------------------------- Kameron Loe -1.34 Marco Estrada -1.30 Zach Braddock -0.75 Zack Greinke -0.56 Sean Green -0.50 Daniel Ray Herrera -0.30 YuniB has been that bad. Also, the 3 innings DRH pitched for us were horrible.
Johnny Damon is going to get 3,000 hits more than likely, does that make him a better player than Ted Williams? You'd be crazy to think that, the same goes for WAR. It can tell you who is having a better season, who might be breaking out, and how a guy might perform in the future. It's also very useful for comparing guys across era's and looking at player peaks. `
