  1. Seriously? Just because we are in 1st place doesn't mean we can't criticize players. Grienke has not been very good. Sure his peripherals look great, but that hasn't translated yet. We should be comfortably in 1st. Simply throwing up your hands and saying we are in 1st so shut up you whiners is asinine, because if we keep playing this way we won't be. Given the talent and the way most have played thus far we aren't playing to where we could be IMO. Yep, we should be comfortably in first place, problem is we've given 100 PA's to 3 guys with negative WAR. Greinke and his 7IP per start is not the problem.
  2. I don't know, I'd say its about on par with Yuni, McGehee and Braun.
  3. Looking... so they have... Counsell, Yuni, Weeks and Wilson....in the IF, Morgan, Kotsay, Hart in the OF... crazy.
  4. Adu will never be a true success, he lacks touch on the ball in traffic and mistimes and makes horrible runs and is a complete non factor on defense. There's a reason he keeps getting passed around by club teams: He simply gets pushed off the ball too easily. Get physical, and he quits. The entire foundation of US soccer needs to be completely revamped if they want to compete on the world stage, really, this needs to start at the top and work its way down. Look at the way successful World Cup teams grow their players: Camps and large pools of young signings. Coaches who know what they are doing coaching even those of a young age.
  5. If they send Gomez down, to let Morgan hit more against LHP, and let Kotsay play more CF, I will have lost all faith in Melvin and RRR.
  6. It is the managers job to put the team in the best position to succeed. Kameron Loe and Tim Dillard pitching against lefties in close games does not do this. Daniel Day Herrera pitching in close games against righties did not do this. Carlos Gomez hitting second does not do this. Constantly making outs by bunting or getting caught stealing in front of Braun and Prince does not do this. Hitting Mark Kotsay instead of Jonathan Lucroy or George Kottaras does not do this. Do you argue these points?
  7. A good breakdown of the team baserunning so far.... http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=975444 They've been very good, but absolutely horrible on non-hits/flyballs.
  8. I just ran out of Pappy VW... if anyone knows where I can score some in the Milwaukee/Madison area.... either poured or (preferably) in a glass.... let me know!
  9. Cameron hasn't been the same since he tore his ab muscle (in May?) last year. I don't think he's even healthy from that yet. But... I'd be all for giving him a shot, especially if he could "try out" in AAA first.
  10. I thought we were done with .280 obp in the two-hole. COME ON RRR.
  11. You should look at baseball-reference WAR, BUC. They use ERA in their calculations instead of FIP. It has Greinke with negative WAR on the season thus far.
  12. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I really see Delfino making a big leap this season. He seemed poised to last year, but the concussion hit, and then Redd (inexplicably) cut into his minutes (instead of Salmons').
  13. I haven't done the gin bloody, but my bloodies are a big hit in the parking lot and at ultimate tournaments. My secret is about a half shot or a shot of guiness in each one. My current favorite drink is a whiskey sour with rye whiskey. 1 egg white, 1.5 oz rye whiskey, 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz simple syrup. Shake well dry, then shake well over ice, and you'll get a frothy foamy delicious beverage.
  14. I know some people will disagree with me on this, but Bradley needs to go as the coach of the USMNT. After the debacle at the World Cup (really, you had 3 years to figure out your midfield, and you were still figuring it out in South Africa), he's showing the exact same tendencies, and non-forward thinking right now. Bill Barnwell over at Grantland said it best...
  15. Really can't see that movie being worth watching on a HD tv or even in a non-3D theatre. It is still the only movie I've seen in 3D that was truly made for 3D, and the added depth really brought the movie to life. It wasn't worth watching for the plot, it was worth watching for the visual uniqueness and ingenuity it brought to the screen.
  16. Higher just makes it sound like its good. Can we say YuniB has a slightly less terrible OPS than McGehee? Its time for some Taylor Green. Seriously.
  17. Ohhh.... are those PUPPIES?? PUPPIES!
  18. Exactly. The trade was prearranged. It's just stupid antequated NBA rules that make the Bucks actually make the selection. No one rips on Bill Belichek for trading away Clay Matthews, for example, even though it was exactly the same type of trade.
  19. Uke: "I don't know why we don't have our groin on the right side on our hip or something, but that's just not the way it is."
  20. I don't mind Morgan bunting, he's bunting for a hit and he's darn good at it. As for Weeks.... I saw this earlier on fangraphs... from the start of 2010 through this morning... Name Team G PA H HR R RBI SB BABIP AVG OBP SLG WAR Jose Bautista Blue Jays 226 977 224 75 164 170 14 0.26 0.28 0.41 0.63 11.3 Joey Votto Reds 223 975 263 46 156 156 22 0.37 0.32 0.43 0.57 10.5 Rickie Weeks Brewers 233 1089 262 43 163 115 18 0.33 0.28 0.36 0.48 9.9 Albert Pujols Cardinals 232 1018 261 59 167 163 19 0.28 0.3 0.4 0.57 9.8 Josh Hamilton Rangers 170 737 230 37 115 131 12 0.38 0.34 0.4 0.6 9.8 Troy Tulowitzki Rockies 193 835 225 40 127 144 17 0.3 0.3 0.37 0.54 9.7
  21. No, its not actually that, it's that there is no advantage for a hitter to throw lefty unless he is going to be a 1B. No non-1B infielder has been left handed in MLB for 14 years (Even for an inning).
  22. And they already played the Cubs. Goes to show, Brewers fans > Cubs fans.
  23. I think this hits the nail on the head. Going off the location/movement data, it doesn't look like he's throwing any more pitches over the plate than usual. It's just that the strikes he does throw are hit hard. So he's probably getting behind a lot of batters and then just throwing strikes. His stuff is good enough to strike guys out but if they're looking for a certain pitch, it can be hit hard.Except, he really hasn't been falling behind a lot of guys. The biggest issue is his babip against with RISP is .484. That is ridiculous. Guys wouldn't even do that in BP.
