  1. It's too bad we can't have Edmonds' bat in the lineup while Gomez plays just defense. I don't remember who pitched but thinking back... I wish they would've DH'd for Gomez in Minnesota and let Yo & Wolf hit. That would've been something.
  2. Wow. Just... wow. Poor Joey Votto. Hopefully the fans get that one right and vote him in.
  3. How do you know this? I severely doubt the DM didn't even listen to offers for anyone on the roster.
  4. Because he's not a pitcher and the 'crew has Mat Gamel to play 3B as well. So, if you can get a young, high upside pitcher for him (and not for Gamel, perhaps), you take the deal and plug Gamel in at 3B. Pitcher Fromtrade + Gamel >> McGehee + Doug Davis in 2011.
  5. Sadly, it wasn't his jumper that was the problem last year. It was his finishing at the rim. He was absolutely horrible... hopefully with time (and a little more muscle) he'll be able to learn to take the bumps, and make the floaters and layups more often. League average for point guards is 56% at the rim, Jennings was down under 43%. He was also pretty bad at anything under 15 feet compared to league average (according to hoopdata.com)
  6. Shhhh... don't say these things. It's a huge secret. No one can actually know Bogut was really, really, really good last year! If word get's out... Milwaukee might actually get some publicity!
  7. The difference between B-Ref WAR and Fangraphs WAR, B-Ref uses a pitcher’s actual runs allowed with an adjustment for the team’s defense, while Fangraphs uses FIP. This can lead to big differences between what the two sites tell you about pitchers. I prefer to use WAR as a value stat, not as a predictive stat, so I much prefer B-Ref’s version.
  8. Come on. He was at 1.8 WAR in 2008. Don't spout stuff that isn't true to make some point about how Melvin sucks.
  9. My cousin had this problem. As far as I know they soaked rags in ammonia, and during the day, took a nice long pole and stuffed the rags down into the den as best as they could. They buggered off that night... then filled the holes in with dirt the next day.
  10. RBI are not useful at all as a predictive stat. If they were, then Prince wouldn't be having a horrible RBI year... since, he set the club record last year and everything. I believe CarGo could have an up year with RISP the same way Prince is having a down year. Even this year, Gomez has a .622 OPS with RISP, Prince has a .581. The only reason Gomez has fewer RBI's from guys being on base is because he has about half the AB's Prince does. Fielder has 79 AB's with RISP and 16 RBI... Gomez 42 and 12 RBI. Hart has 72 AB's and 37 RBI. McGehee has 75 AB's and 39 RBI. (Including 9 AB's with the Bases loaded and 12 RBI there alone)
  11. I wonder if Jamie Garcia is related to "super chef" Jerry Garcia.
  12. That's why. There's so much horrible stuff posted there, it's tough to find the good stuff.... especially as someone who doesn't frequent the boards on a daily basis.
  13. Macha won't get fired. Why? Because they don't want Randolph or Sveum coaching the team next year, and even if the team simply plays to it's preseason expectations in the second half, they'll be 'way better' under the new manager and he'll have his whole leg in the door for next year.
  14. I really don't see Salmons coming back. Some team (the Clippers or Knicks, I'd wager) will have him as plan D or E and he'll get upwards of 9M a year thrown at him. The Bucks just can't afford to pay a 30/31 year old that kind of money, killing what cap space they'd have available next year.
  15. K's don't matter. 100 K's is about 1 run as a hitter at the MLB level. Saying someone has a 'Bad .850 OPS' is like saying Jason Kendall has a 'Good .550 OPS'. His OBP is still .340 over the last 3 seasons. Stop looking at BA. Yovani, on the other hand, has a "terrible .800 OPS", his OBP is only .275.
  16. You can't miss the stadium. At all. They don't have a lot for tailgating. Just lots of parking ramps which charge ~$20 to park there. I'd suggest heading to the roof in one of those if you want to grill out. 17. And I'm referring to the fact that the owner isn't going to publicly admit that the team has no playoff chance in June which would kill ticket sales for August and September.
  18. When clicking the link on the forums.... here's the error: Server Error in '/' Application. The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below. --- I can post the stack trace if you'd like. The 'leap Yuku boards load fine, though.
  19. If he says "We're sellers. We're gonna trade for young talent." or something like that, they sell less tickets for August and September games. He won't say that in public, until the day Fielder gets traded.
  20. I thought beat writers were supposed to be objective.... it's not like this is PTI where he's forced to take a side in an argument. He's not arguing with anyone. What drivel.
  21. The question is, can the Bucks win a title with Bosh as their best player? Sure, I'd do the trade, but 6 years of Bosh at a max deal is a long, long time. ... but in reality, there's no way Bosh would want to play for the Bucks. He'll be playing along side LeBron or Wade.
  22. You really think the Owner, who's income is from the team is almost completely based on this years attendance is going to come out and say "We're gonna trade everyone" publicly before the All Star Break?
  23. Sorry I missed this... and Valpo, I just moved over to 70th and Greenfield. We'll have to have beers sometime soon.
  24. Exactly, Hobson could very well fit the Charlie Bell/Royal Ivey role this season.
  25. With the fear of the CBA changing big-time next year looming large, I feel like this season could be a lot like the 2008 MLB off season, and find a lot of players wanting bigger/longer contracts but teams not willing to dish out the dollars for them.
