  1. An article I've linked to before, about PAP (Pitcher Abuse Points) which revolves around pitch counts:
  2. He's old, slow, and his OBP has dropped nearly 100 points in his last 60 ABs. Oh well, at least Gomez can't hit second.
  3. The offense has been asleep since it left Arizona. A full month's worth of games since then, they've averaged only 4 runs per game. With this pitching staff (Even at it's best) an offense that ranks 23rd in the league in runs/game (that's where a 4 run/game offense would rank) isn't going to cut it.
  4. Macha hasn't played platoon matchups for the catchers all year. He's picked starters for a guy to catch and stuck with them, regardless of the handedness of the opposing pitcher.
  5. Compared to last year, he's seeing less pitches in the zone and he's swinging at more pitches out of the zone. His plate discipline, if anything, so far this year, has gotten worse.
  6. It's nice you're having a little festival, Stallis. But seriously, turn the guy's vocals down who's playing two blocks from my apartment. He cannot sing a lick.. and I can't hear myself think.
  7. I've never seen players, years and years after a guy coached them, collectively visit, discuss, and rave about a former coach the way the guys who played under Wooden did. Truly one of the greatest ever.
  8. If they were to do this system right (and the NFL has the system HORRIBLY wrong, by the way), any replay could and would be done with only an additional 30 seconds added onto the game. You need a replay official who's up in the booth, or... heck, anywhere. Watching the game on 6 TV's. If a call is wrong and it's challenged, he already knows it before the home plate up gets to the phone or whatever it is to contact him. The idiocy of the NFL of having a ref look at a tiny monitor, and spend 5 minutes going to and from the monitor to midfield is ludicrous. If you watch a game on TV, you know the outcome of the replay within 30 seconds the overwhelming majority of the time. If they had a booth-referee who only handled replays the same could be done in the NFL.
  9. Then the whole premise of selling high is null and void... right? Maybe selling low is the new selling high?
  10. They aren't making the playoffs this season. Hart probably won't be back for 8Mil next year. Get something for him while his value is at it's highest. The sooner you trade him the more you can get. They don't need an MLB ready arm. They need a solid AA or AAA starter who's ready to make the jump next year or 2012.
  11. I got the bill for the outpatient surgery I had on my vocal cords. I was in the hospital for 5 hours total. The bill was just shy of $11,000... before insurance. Absolutely amazing. Oh, and to those of you who know me... I actually have a voice again now!
  12. The Brewers have McGeehee through 2014 when he'll be 32 at the end of the year. No real reason for a small market payroll strapped team to sign a slightly overweight, range starved 3B beyond that.
  13. Narveson was at 99 pitches after walking Uggla on 4 straight that weren't even close to the zone.
  14. Another QS for Bushy. That's 6 this year. 2nd on the team.
  15. So, was unable to watch, except on gameday... is it wrong that every time I see a "extra base hit to LF Ryan Braun" or "extra base hit to CF Jim Edmonds" I assume it probably would've been caught by an average defender...
  16. And CC Sabathia sucked mightily his first start for the Brewers.
  17. Really, you guys who are against the move are making it sound like Stern wouldn't have been told about this ahead of time, and wouldn't have had a clue it was coming. I'm sure he's bright enough to realize he was going back down to AAA once Edmonds came off the DL, and that his presence on the 40 man was tentative at best (considering he was the 7th OF'er on the 40 man, if you include Inglett). And, by DFAing him and giving him the chance to latch on with another team who might need him more than the Brewers, isn't the 'Crew doing what's best for him?
  18. These ESPN Shorts are simply phenomenal. Just a short 3-4 minute video interviewing and recapping people who have scored in the World Cup. Alcides Ghigga's was especially awesome: "The Maracana has been silenced by 3 people, The Pope, Frank Sinatra, and me."
  19. That last minute was amazing last night. Philly had about 9 solid chances (not all were shots on goal, but still) and the mad scramble... an empty netter off the post... just amazing.
  20. I really believe that they were both worried about crossing up signs -- as far as I can recall, every trip to the mound was with a guy on 2b -- and it also had a bit to do with Lucroy not being overly comfortable with Wolf just yet.
  21. Ugly, ugly injury. Probably out about 2 months.
  22. Dennis, Gary.... who's gonna be the third?
  23. It was the first complete game shutout by a Brewers pitcher since Ben Sheets downed the Padres 1-0 on September 6, 2008.... when Sheeter out dueled Jake Peavy.
  24. Yes, in looking at the chart: 1b and 0 outs: 56% of the time = 0 runs. 2b and 1 out: 59% of the time = 0 runs.
