1. Tough blow for the Rockies. Quick, let's trade them Counsell.
2. US looked so much better running a 4-3-2-1 in the second half with Altidore all alone up top. Midfielders better knew (or better followed?) their responsibility and they actually were getting back on defense and controlling the middle of the field.... not leaving the defense out to dry.... which, basically cost them both goals this game.
3. I think you're overstating how remote the location is. It's more like 30 minutes from downtown Milwaukee, a mere 15 from the batch of hotels right off 94 at Hwy 18 in western Brookfield. And there is other lodging in lake country along 94, like Country Springs, etc.Delafield, which is about 20 minutes away also has a ton of hotel space.
4. Wait, does that make Maradona Al Davis? Because, I feel this video needs to be on youtube, today.
5. Maybe this is true, but you'd think there'd be a point where enough games and time in the OF would make him peak at his personal ability later. I mean, 1 month of fly balls vs 2 years worth has to make you better at judging them, right? Instead, he's just gotten worse since he moved out there.
6. No. People who need rescue shouldn't be forced to repay whatever costs are incurred. People who then turn around and profit off that rescue should have to. She's already signed a book deal, and there's the reality TV show on top of it. It took them 40 hours to find her. At least 3 flights were made checking on her well being. The costs of which are not insignificant. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/rescued-teen-sailor-abby-sutherland-cuts-book-deal/story-e6freon6-1225879633270
7. Every dime they make from that reality show should be poured back into paying for whatever was expended to rescue her, or donated to something like the Haitian rebuilding effort.
8. Or, when Edmonds and Gerut were both playing... play Gerut in CF.Holy cow has Braun been a butcher in LF so far this year.
9. I just posted in the trade Hart threat.
10. Why would the Brewers want Cliff Lee, free agent to be? He won't put them in the playoffs this year, even with a CC Sabathia-esque performance.
11. Yes, maybe I can understand that logic (and I know you're being sarcastic) but Gomez has proven in his 4,000 bunt attempts this year that he has no idea how to actually lay down a bunt. He simply needs to stop trying.
12. Ah ha! Just sounded a lot like Korobeiniki.Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria
13. http://www.baseball1.com/bb-data/grabiner/protstudy.html
The players hit slightly better when *not* protected.... ...The overall difference is thus three points of BA and 26 points of SLG (not 25 because of rounding).
And from "The Book" http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/pitching-around-batters
In terms of an alternative to intentional walks, pitching around a hitter accomplishes very little, as it merely increases the ratio of walks to non-walks without significantly affecting how well the hitter performs if he isn't actually walked. In other words, if you'd rather have a walk than whatever the hitter normally does if he doesn't walk, then you should walk him. If you'd rather have what he normally does, you should pitch to him normally.
14. Hart has had 31 AB's in the 2-hole and OPS'd a whopping .660. Protection has absolutely nothing to do with it. He destroyed the ball in the 6th spot in the order.
15. You may want to add that the Diamondbacks made the trade http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I had to go google it, as I had no idea who Jackson played for.
16. I got a flat tire. Changing it today was not fun. Now, to find a new cheap tire soon. Anyone have suggestions?
17. Slovenia wins, making the USA's road quite a bit tougher. My biggest concern for the US was the huge amount of turnovers in the midfield/their end of the field. It just seemed like they are very vulnerable to any sort of pressure on the ball (and England did a great job applying that pressure the whole game). Anytime a US player had the ball, even on their own side of the field, it seemed an English defender was within 5 yards and applying pressure.
18. Robin, I'm pretty sure... that this is it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trGkPerU3-k Tetris by Powerglove I could be wrong though. I couldn't really hear it well due to the 20 person birthday party engulfing my section who didn't even know there was a Brewers game going on.
19. Braun cost the team a run tonight, when he didn't get behind a high fly ball and lazily lobbed it back into the IF from LF and Kinsler tagged to go from first to second. Ended up scoring the 4th run on a weak single up the middle.
20. Probably not, they were willing to let Escobar score - Inglett would not have been able to get into 3rd, especially running at less than 100% Yes, the throw was going in to third. Inglett would've been out by 40 feet if he'd tried to go to third there.
21. It's not that the second game was that much better played. It's that neither team ever moved forward for almost the entire game. It was slow and plodding with 5 defenders almost never crossing the midfield line for either team. Counter attacks always ended up 1 or 2 vs 5 or 6, so scoring simply wasn't going to happen. I was really disappointed France did not push forward harder when they got the extra man. Argentina looks strong so far this morning.
22. Maybe he's pretty average for a LF. But when you're comparing yourself to the likes of Adam Dunn and Carlos Lee that isn't saying much.He consistently gets terrible jumps on balls, rarely changes where he's positioned based on who is up and the game situation (hence the bright green spot in LF, where the grounds crew constantly has to replace the grass he digs up) which causes him to give up way too many 2 out doubles with a guy on 1b. I don't know. I've watched the guy a lot, from behind homeplate in the Terrace Reserved seats (honestly, best spot to watch how OF's play) and about 10% of the time he'll break the wrong way on a ball off the bat. I just haven't seen much, if any, improvement in 3 years out there now.
23. Clearly, this is why Hart has been hitting bombs.
24. Yes, having Ryan Braun in LF results in many 4 out innings for our FB heavy pitching staff. Even if he doesn't make many errors.
25. Big 10 goes to 16, by adding Nebraska, Sarycuse, Rutgers, Texas and A&M. At least, that's my prediction.
