  1. If Craig Counsell is your only hitter left on your bench and available to hit... WHY IN THE HECK do you use him to SAC BUNT?
  2. Yes, but the guy in front of me never turns on his left turn blinker until he's actually stopped and waiting to make the turn.
  3. They had first and third with one out when Braun was up. Gomez singled in Escobar, and Weeks went to third on the play. They never had first and 3rd in the 10th inning.
  4. Are you talking about when Braun, the Brewers best hitter, was at the plate in the 9th? When all he had to do was MAKE CONTACT and not get doubled up at first?
  5. The reason they are done way more in the NBA is two fold, 1) Salary cap, a team can dump salary to 'sign' a free agent from another team and 2) the home team can offer nearly 20 Million more on a max contract in the NBA than another team can. It's rarely done in baseball, but the Mets sort of did it when they traded for Johan Santana.
  6. Braun has to put the ball in play there. Almost any ball in play wins the game.
  7. Looks like his horizontal movement was pretty straight vs the Twins. His other appearances aren't up yet.
  8. Yeah, but Estrada has options. Parra doesn't, so if it comes down to keeping both (looking at next year) then I'd much rather send Estrada down.
  9. The way Christian explained it, made me not thing of purgatory in a traditional sense... it didn't seem like a punishment. This made Desmond out to be a grim reaper, destined to show people they were really dead. I don't know. For me, it just seemed like they said, "Oh, what's the easiest way to end this whole sideways thing?" "Let's just say they were dead the whole time." No explanation of how long some people were there waiting or what they did while waiting. (I mean -- Boon and Shannon died... what... 5 years earlier than Jack? Who knows how long Sawyer & Kate lived to be). At least it wasn't a snow globe.
  10. No Walt or Michael in the church. Incredibly disappointed by the ending. Finding out that the whole flash sideways was just a place to chill til they went on to heaven (or whatever you'd like to call it) was amazingly anti climactic, and made everything which happened on the island seem... well... pointless.
  11. I remember seeing video of Shouse in spring training coming out to throw to a few guys after a righty had pitched and not flipping the screen around. Just throwing around the side edge of it. Was absolutely hilarious.
  12. If you're adding in walks, you need to divide by PA's instead of AB's, otherwise a guy who goes 0 for 1 with 10 BB (For example) would have a HA of 10.0. OPS does a darn good job because it does sort of "double value" batting average. Where OPS lacks is that it doesn't count OBP enough... and your stat seems to count it even less.
  13. Yeah, I doubt they were expecting to have to add Lucroy to the 40 man roster. Now they'd have to make another move on the 40 man to call Braddock up. Not sure if they are willing to do that just yet.
  14. My point is, I'm not sure you can say they are really good at evaluating talent and building things the right way when compared to Milwaukee. The Brewers have the exact same results (thus far) as the Rays, only the Brewers have actually cultivated a fan base on top of everything else. 10 years of top 3 draft picks has netted them one playoff birth. Maybe they've turned things around, but they still have to prove it.
  15. So, lose 100 games 10 years in a row then make the playoffs once and completely fall apart the next year?Isn't that exactly what the Brewers did?
  16. I doubt they could even get Smoak for Prince straight up. If they could, I'd do that deal tomorrow.
  17. 1-8 on the year. Only win being the McGeehee walk off. Opening day, one loss vs St Louis, the full Cubs series, one against Pitt, one against ATL and one against Philly. I'm not paying for any more tickets that I haven't already bought. The product on the field isn't worth my money.
  18. Braun should DH. Go with Gerut, Gomez, Hart in the OF.
  19. Over his last 90 AB's Rickie Weeks is hitting .202/.283/.281/.564 Better DFA him too. Gerut is what he is: An above average defender who is a very good option as a 4th OF. Comparing a play he didn't make to a play Gomez would is like saying "I'd rather have Braun hitting now than Hart."
  20. Michael Ballack, Germany's captain, is out for the World Cup. Big news.
  21. No. Because the Brewers don't play in the worst division in baseball, and they've won as many WS as the Twins in the last 15 years.Go back and look at the 2000-2002 drafts. Pre Melvin. Look at how many of those guys did ANYTHING to contribute to the MLB club. 3 of them? 3 of 120? 2000: Dave Krynzel is the only name I recognize from that list. 2001 - Hardy, Brad Nelson, Sarfate, Dillard, Chris Barnwell 2002 - Fielder, Eveland, Dillard (again) He inherited a big steaming pile of refuse & Ben Sheets. He's turned it into a park. They actually have guys in the minors who might contribute to the MLB squad!! It's amazing! You know who the big hot new GM was 4 years ago? Dayton Moore. Ask any Royals fan how that turned out.
  22. Pretty sure it's only going to be a half season because Amy Poeller is pregnant.
  23. You really don't think that's the coaches call to send him there? Come on. Macha is not the type of manager to let guys run on their own. If he was, Escobar might actually have more than 0 SBs.
  24. Macha has really gotten in the terrible habit of using 3 guys in 5 run games. There is never a reason to use 3 guys from the bullpen in 5 run games. That's what Suppan and Parra are in the pen for. It's a bit ridiculous. Coffee and Villanueva have both been in 18 games already. Parra and Vargas, 15 each.
