  1. Aannnddd the Padres pull an epic choke job to blow the game. But certainly the race narrowed a bit and given how close the stats are it would be nice to see Burnes finish strong and give the voters a tough choice.
  2. I think the black devil magic may have run out of mojo after sacrificing Devin Williams.
  3. They are. The average person doesn't have to do a press conference with the General Manager of their company when they screw up this bad. Other than that, what can the Brewers realistically do about it? The fans could boo him. Great. What does that accomplish? We didn't even boo Ryan Braun after he ruined the 2012 season before it started.
  4. He's having the most miserable day of his life today and we're all upset about it, but he obviously regrets it and we'll eventually move on. Although it certainly will be easier if the Brewers avoid blowing late-inning leads in the postseason... He's not even the first pitcher this year to bust his pitching hand punching something. One wishes that he did it after a bad outing rather than after the celebration though.
  5. It would have been better if it was the fingers again this time and not the hand.
  6. My god. What a moron.
  7. In 2019 the World Series get-in price in Houston was around $500 for standing room only, I could see that being similar for Milwaukee. I think OldSchoolSnapper is right about the terrace likely being in the $700s. The World Series is a bucket list thing for many people, including people who are not really baseball fans. The crowds will not be as good as the NLDS and NLCS and you will be paying way, way more money for a mediocre baseball experience. My wife was at one of the 2019 WS games in DC and described it as a "normal baseball game". I bet the NLDS crowds will be great this year because the only people there will be people who really want to be there. For the price of one World Series ticket I can fly to San Fran or Milwaukee for the NLCS, have a chance to see the Brewers win the pennant, and have money left over.
  8. Mariners win their 11th straight against Oakland, now 0.5 back. Unreal. Going to be a fun weekend. Yeah, and that place was intense the last two nights. I think the AL is where the action will be going forward. Giants and Braves looking like they'll take care of business in the NL. It’s hard to put a finger on exactly what Scott Servais is doing to motivate them, obviously a lights out bullpen makes anyone look good, but this is the second time he’s going to win 89+ games with a 70-75 win roster.
  9. Mariners win their 11th straight against Oakland, now 0.5 back. Unreal. Going to be a fun weekend.
  10. Your team is doing its best to ruin what should be one of the most relaxing weeks in our history as Brewers fans. Congrats and enjoy it while it lasts, because we’re going to have a great time watching the Cards in the wild card game next week.
  11. I assume that Woodruff is going to start the last game of the season against LA as well? That would keep him on a 4 or 5 day rest cycle to start game 1 or 2 of the NLDS.
  12. We're past the point of small samples in this season...for the most part (other than trades/injuries) you are what your record is. Certainly the Cardinals have a talented-enough roster to be a playoff team, they are outperforming their +34 run differential, and, most importantly, they have 87 wins. Seattle also has 87 wins, but with a -54 run differential and a roster that nobody would consider to be playoff worthy. Is Seattle a good baseball team? Of course they are, they win baseball games. [insert caveat about how a good bullpen leads to outperforming Pythagorean W/L] Which is basically what the fangraphs article seems to show...the full-season sample has the most predictive value for postseason success.
  13. Not sure i the Rockies have been asked, but I am assuming they are just mentally preparing and assuming like that game is on the schedule. If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. All the games happen on the same time on Sunday (essentially) so it isn't like they would spin around in their chairs all night waiting for a 9:00 PM game to finish. It seems like players on non-contending teams get quite a bit of enjoyment out of playing meaningful games in late September. However, they might feel differently if extra travel is involved...
  14. I hope we end their winning streak but I can't say I'm particularly invested in this game. I'm more interested in the Mariners' unlikely playoff push + AL wild card chaos this week.
  15. In my opinion Vancouver BC is a better spot for a 2nd Canadian team than Montreal. However, MLB's scheme for the west coast is to sabotage Oakland's stadium plans in order to force a move to Las Vegas. The 2022 A's are being scripted straight from the script of Major League.
  16. I get that this is going to happen in some form or another, but what an insult to the fans in Tampa to debut this during the playoffs, and slap the logo where everyone can see it at the games. Also...what problem does this solve exactly? If there's one stadium that's worse than the Trop it's Stade Olympique. Who would fund a stadium for a part-time baseball team? I get that there are a LOT of baseball fans in Canada so it makes sense to get another team there, but just make them the Expos, build a cheaper outdoor stadium in Montreal, and play some games in Florida in April/September. Don't try this "two cities" BS that alienates both fan bases. Everyone in Montreal cheers for the Blue Jays now, I doubt a half-team is going to change their allegiance, especially since the Rays are their RIVAL right now.
  17. The Brewers are nothing if not opportunistic and the Pirates like to give away good players for cheap. Reynolds would have immediately become our best position player. To me the biggest implication is that the Brewers were already trying to solve the Jackie Bradley Jr problem in July.
  18. It seems pretty straightforward to me. There's no way in a million years that the game 1 starter is not the guy who just had one of the best statistical seasons since Pedro Martinez. Also, if anyone pitches on 3 days rest it means we're in desperation mode. Burnes Woodruff Peralta/Houser Lauer /Houser (if he doesn't pitch G3) Burnes (Woodruff available in relief) Ideal scenario is Brewers in 4 or less, then Burnes is lined up for game 1 of the NLCS.
  19. The thing that is truly scary is the best-of-5 NLDS. The Brewers are fortunate to have won the NLDS in both of their division title years. In both cases they took advantage of home field and jumped out to 2-0 series leads. How would we feel going into Atlanta or Philly with a 1-1 series split or down 2-0?
  20. The NFL is a joke.
  21. Honestly I’m looking forward to wrapping this up on our own terms. And then we can go end the Cards’ win streak with nothing to lose.
  22. Justin Morneau spoke for a half hour last night…let’s see how long the Brewers can drag this out for…
  23. Can we have drunk Robin Yount in the booth every game?
