  1. I tend to agree that Peralta is one of those "high ceiling" guys with good stuff but shaky command. Sometimes you never know what you are going to get until you see them at the MLB level. But when a guy like Peralta comes up and starts overpowering major league hitters, it is easy to get excited. Especially because young arms like Peralta are the key to having a successful MLB franchise these days. I'm sure there will be bumps in the road but Peralta will most likely be in the 2013 rotation--and it takes pressure off of Melvin to find FA arms in the offseason.
  2. Yikes, Pedro Alvarez just crushed that one, an opposite-field shot onto Waveland. 9-5 Pirates.
  3. They win again, a 5-1 homestand. Next is the most important Brewers/Pirates series ever.
  4. Peralta's start today might have been the best performance of the season by a Brewers starter, considering the importance of this game. Edit: and judging by those highlights he was completely relaxed doing it. Not feeling the pressure at all. Can Axford hold the lead though?
  5. Dodgers with a rough schedule and full of injuries. Cardinals headed backwards. Pirates can't even beat the Astros or Cubs. 2 1/2 games back with 17 to play. Plenty of time.
  6. Cards blow it!!!!!! 2 1/2 back!!!!! Keep it going boys!
  7. Dodgers tie it up with 2 outs in the 9th!!!!
  8. It actually was the back two of that 4-game home series with the Phillies.
  9. The Brewers haven't lost consecutive games since August 18-19.
  10. The Phillies were shutout by the Astros tonight? Ouch. It is good that the Astros are putting in a good effort to play spoiler, they will have plenty more opportunities to do that.
  11. BA with baseballreference.com up on his laptop. Nice.
  12. I'm guessing they don't publish the voter rolls like they do in college sports? It would be nice to be able to hold some of these writers accountable--that is the ones that leave Braun completely off their ballots. I bet there would be less of that if people knew their votes would be scrutinized. It's out of our control and at least at this point he probably doesn't deserve the award anyway. But if it was clear that he should win, then I would be upset.
  13. Yeah, that was the kind of ball that was finding a hole in the Braves series. Can't have that good of luck forever.
  14. I don't watch TV, but it seems at least online that the articles have been fair to both teams. The media loves an underdog. What is funny is that the supposed "star power" of the Phillies is a myth. Despite this run, they are older than the Brewers and fading. Besides, who was in the NLCS last year again? How many players on the 2012 Phillies were even on the world championship team? 5 maybe? Meanwhile, even Arizona wants in on the fun now, they are 70-72 with 3% playoff odds. There could be a real mess if nobody can pull away from the pack.
  15. Diamondbacks take the lead on the Dodgers. Could get within 2 games of them tonight.
  16. All they do is win win win, no matter what. Miller Park better be loud this weekend!!!
  17. Down go the Pirates. Only 1 game behind them now (1/2 game if the Brewers hold on tonight).
  18. They had over 170,000 for that 4-game Yankees series. So they are doing fine. Only 23,000 last night, but that is probably almost double what they would have gotten if they hadn't been in the race. It's hard to get people in on weeknights and when you have been losing as long as they have, many fans probably switched allegiances.
  19. 2-2 split Could argue either way for Cards or Dodgers depending on which team you think will win more games down the stretch.
  20. Speaking of good baseball, the crowd in Baltimore is really into the game. Those fans are hungry like we were in 2008.
