  1. Yes, Mark A. was there.
  2. Cespedes had a clean 3-run single in the A's victory over Toronto tonight. Can't remember the last time I saw that.
  3. Seems like it's just a really bad year to be a seller. There are more teams than usual with decent talent to give away, probably because Philly and Miami were gigantic busts this year. Not to mention several other teams including Milwaukee that are looking to move talent. Buying teams are not as willing to unload prospects as they were a few years ago. The new CBA further adds to that. It simply will not be possible for the Brewers to quickly restock for 2014 using trades for high-level prospects. Of course there will always be some teams willing to bite, and there really is no point to keeping Greinke for the next 2 months. So Melvin should take what he can get.
  4. Solo home runs aren't going to lose you very many games.
  5. That's what I get for growing up in the '90s
  6. I had been to a few smaller shows before, but my first big concert experience was Blink-182.
  7. Just saw the Lawrie play. Almost the catch of the year, [sarcasm]too bad he doesn't play for the Yankees or maybe he would have gotten the call...[/sarcasm] He probably escapes with only some bruises.
  8. In Madison this year, one out of every 10.5 days has been a record high (19 record highs so far).
  9. There was a useful article about laptop shopping in the NYTimes last week: LINK
  10. There are currently 17 teams with a reasonable chance at getting one of the 8 playoff spots (within 3 games). The Brewers are not one of those 17 teams. There are 20 teams that are either have a winning record or have a > 15% chance at a playoff berth. The Brewers are not one of those 20 teams. Even if the Brewers win the next 5 games and finish their 7-2 stretch, they will still not be one of those 20 teams.
  11. There's really nobody to blame for this except Axford himself. There aren't any magic replacements coming and he's going to be pitching in important innings no matter what, even if it's not in the 9th. We need him.
  12. Why do that with Braun on deck? They just would have walked Braun. I'm ok with that if Gomez is batting 7th, not 2nd.
  13. You don't just skip your ace in the rotation, especially during the week that everyone says is going to decide the fate of the season. I can only conclude that either: 1) There is some piece of information that we do not know or 2) This is a stupid decision
  14. The problem with wild cards is that even if you get one, your odds of reaching the real postseason are still only 50%. And unfavorable pitching matchups in the NLDS on top of that. It's definitely not worth sacrificing the future to go for one of those wild card spots. Of course any team sitting below .500 in mid-July should think twice about making temporary acquisitions. If the move helps the team in 2013 and beyond, then they should go for it.
