  1. Players that Ned needs to bench: Weeks Fielder Hart Hall Cameron Kendall
  2. So, since yesterday was a "must win" and we didn't win, is the season over?
  3. Let's keep venting to the vent thread. I'm as frustrated as everyone else here, but I guess I didn't think we were better than the Cubs. I did think we would win Monday night, though.
  4. Why blame Yost? Sheets has been walking on easy street this year. He needs to learn how to pitch out of jams against good teams. How else is he going to survive in the playoffs?
  5. This is definitely confirming my worst fears about the Brewers. I did kind of suspect it though. Hope for 1/4 and place our hopes on the easy schedule!
  6. This is starting to look very clear... Cubs > Brewers > Cardinals
  7. In case you were wondering, in the Brewers/Indians fight, the Brewers bullpen simply climbed over the outfield wall and charged in, while the Indians (in the back bullpen) had to wait for the gate to be opened so they could join in the fight.
  8. I actually had the fortune of seeing a Brewers/Indians brawl at County Stadium back when I was 10 years old. For those who don't remember, it was the Albert Belle/Fernando Vina game. Belle decks Vina between 1st and 2nd, the Brewers hit an Indians batter the next inning, and the Indians hit a Brewers batter (don't remember who) who charges the mound resulting in a full scale brawl. It was great. I also got to see the game where Billy Spiers was tackled by a fan in right field, which resulted in both the Brewers and Astros combining to beat the fan up.
  9. A Brewers-Cubs brawl would be great entertainment, but I could see a repeat of the Pistons/Pacers. It probably won't happen tonight, but sooner or later someone is going to throw at Braun and ignite something. Lou probably wouldn't do it, but La Russa would.
  10. I already thought that the Angles were the WS favorites, this just solidifies my opinion. Angels over Cubs in 5.
  11. The self imposed curtain call was a joke. I think it would have been fun if he would just have popped out and pumped his fists to the crowd in order to get them even more fired up. It would have ticked off the Cubs fans, but at least he wouldn't have been congratulating himself. I think if he would have waited another 20 seconds, the fans would have been calling for him anyway.
  12. A "true fan" is anyone who sticks with the team in the good times and the bad. It doesn't matter if they go to 1 game per year or 50, if you were following the Brewers in the bad years, even when there was only a distant glimmer of hope for the future, you deserve to be called a true fan.
  13. Hopefully a repeat of this night is coming (see June 22, 2005).
  14. If we're going to talk about solutions, maybe the typical seating distribution should be ignored and Brewers/Cubs fans should be seated in separate sections like they do for college football. However, I worry for the few unlucky fans who get seated/have the guts to sit in the wrong section. This would require Brewers management to accommodate Cubs fans, which would likely be unpopular despite the reality of the situation. Secondly, the extra money made on tickets needs to be spent on a large number of extra ushers and security. I know they already have extra, but there should be more, and although I generally disagree with a zero-tolerance policy, the Brewers need to address the media with specific rules and then enforce these rules with the extra staff. If it takes throwing 500-1000 people out of the game to make the atmosphere better, so be it. I know it would be horribly unpopular, but if the situation gets too far out of hand, the Brewers could consider significantly raising the price of beer for Cubs games or even preventing fans from entering the stadium who are obviously intoxicated. If you look intoxicated coming into the game, it's probably better to go back to your car to sober up for a few innings than come into the game and be a problem. Unfortunately, I think it would take a 50+ person in-stands fight or a death for extreme measures to be taken.
  15. I always hate hearing stories like this. It's fine if drunken Brewers and Cubs fans want to go at it, but leave those who are enjoying the game out of it. I know the majority of Brewers and Cubs fans are good people, but for some reason there is that small group of fans that will single out anybody wearing the opposite jersey and fire personal insults at them. I don't understand it. I have plenty of friends who are Cubs fans. I don't blame them for it. If I was born in Chicago, I'd be a Cubs fan too, and considering how horrible the Brewers have been for the past 15 years, I really don't blame people living in Southern Wisconsin for becoming Cubs fans either. It's not like they should change allegiance to the Brewers now. Secondly, there always seems to be this inclination to try and blame it all on the other fan base. The Cubs fans are supposedly at fault for "invading" Miller Park when the Brewers play here and season ticket holders are "to blame" for selling their seats. Do you blame Cubs fans for coming here? There are some who live in Milwaukee anyway, so it's easier for them to come here, and secondly, the prices are so high at Wrigley that it makes financial sense for them to come up to the cheaper Miller Park. Of course there's going to be some people with Wrigley North signs, but honestly, it really was Wrigley North for the last 10 years, we even grow ivy in CF. I have seen plenty of MLB stadiums, and I think Brewers and Cubs fans are some of the most passionate and most obnoxious fans in MLB. Cubs fans throw garbage on the field, Brewers fans are notorious for booing. Prince Fielder and Wes Helms are the ones who have complained, but I'm sure they aren't the only ones who think that. Anyway, the bottom line is that many Brewers fans are being scared away from Miller Park during the series because of the passionate hatred between Brewers and Cubs fans. If I had kids, I wouldn't want them to be exposed to that atmosphere, I'd rather take them to a Cardinals game to show them how baseball fans should behave.
  16. This is an important game for the Brewers. I highly doubt Zambrano is going to give up more than 2 runs, so Sheets better have his A-game tonight or we risk a repeat of the Cardinals series in the wrong way.
  17. Tired? He's a veteran and he was at 70 pitches. He's pitched twice in the last 3 weeks. When are the players going to be held accountable around here?
  18. I can't even come up with an agrument for why Suppan was in so long.
  19. The booing is absolutely uncalled for. I get so excited about our fans some days, but others I wish they would just not show up.
  20. Obviously, not a good inning for Soup. In his defense, he had 2 balls that could have been caught. Still, we've got a good chance to win this.
  21. Nobody up in the bullpen. Edit: McClung throwing
  22. Suppan is so frustrating....and now bases loaded with no outs!!! Time to get a new pitcher throwing...fast.
  23. SOOOUUUUPP!!! That one gets the average up to .088
  24. Hart's baserunning is making the Astros look silly.
