  1. He can't be any worse than what we have right now. I say why not, we've got nothing to lose. Same for Weaver.
  2. I've been a Yost supporter all along... However, I've been starting to wonder if Ned's "don't worry, it will be fine" attitude has gone too far. That is often an effective strategy, but I think the recent result has been that there is virtually no sense of urgency on the team. I've seen very few displays of emotion and not much sign of effort from many players this year (Bill Hall and Corey Hart come to mind). I know we're not that far back yet, but with our pitching, we can't count on a 24-10 stretch to get us back in the race. I know they are "battling" and "working hard" and whatever, but showing up early for batting practice doesn't cure everything. There has to be a sense of urgency about it. They aren't Rookies anymore, they can handle a little pressure, and if Ned Yost doesn't put it on them, someone needs to. The Tigers responded well to Leyland's pep talk a few weeks ago, I'm wondering why Yost isn't doing the same--or even why some of the veterans in the clubhouse aren't stepping up and saying something. Maybe the presence of Geoff Jenkins mattered more than we thought. I highly doubt firing Yost will bring us any closer to our long term goals. I would be disappointed to see our coaching staff full of former Brewers all leave, and I'm sure that Simmons would go with Yost, leaving Kremblas as the interim manager. Dumping a road trip is something we do every year, it won't change anything until they lose at home. Extending the streak to 9 this weekend would be a good way to start--if they play bad, hopefully Attanasio is in attendance.
  3. It's ok, at least we improved our defense--and they have been getting lots of practice lately!
  4. Silver lining: Two games under .500 in May would have looked really good 3-5 years ago.
  5. Go Brewers! I haven't given up (all) hope yet!
  6. I could see Skaalen out as early as the next homestand. A few bad offensive performances at home and getting booed by big crowds could be enough...and there will be a lot of booing on the next homestand if they don't wake up soon. I agree with everyone else about Ned, it's going to take a losing streak of 10+ or 10 games under .500. The problem with the Yost firing would be that the entire coaching staff would leave as well--maybe Simmons too unless he is appointed the new manager. We'd have to start from scratch.
  7. Looks like it's about time for me to leave work. I very much enjoyed getting paid to follow the game for the last 80 minutes, but it's time to get stuff done.
  8. Considering we only have 2 singles, even if Hart/Hardy were batting 1-2 tonight, we still wouldn't have scored any runs.
  9. I follow baseball fairly closely, and I could only name about 3 Marlins off the top of my head before I went to 2 Marlins games last week.
  10. We all know that Prince is capable of hitting to the opposite field. I think it would help him tremendously if he did, which would result in opponents being forced to pitch more favorably to him again. However, I think he feels like he has the load of the team on his shoulder and he won't settle for slapping singles to left field. Maybe I'm wrong, but there is clearly more pressure than there should be on Prince to hit home runs.
  11. It's so bad that Derrick Turnbow could dominate us right now!
  12. Badenhop's ERA is now an even 6.00. At this pace, it'll be so low at the end of the game that we won't even look bad!!
  13. It's ok, our young core is getting experience working through a slump so when they play for the Cubs/Yankees in a few years, it will help them.
  14. At least I don't drown myself in despair until the 7th or 8th inning with Gallardo pitching.
  15. I'm starting to miss Gallardo about now.
  16. We're having a bad month, but at least we're not having a bad century, right?
  17. There isn't any sarcasm on here tonight, we all trust Ned Yost when he says things will turn around anytime now.
  18. I'm not trying to jinx anything, but BADENHOP HAS A PERFECT GAME!!! He's going to make history! Nothing could possibly go wrong for the Marlins!
  19. That's awesome. I don't think we drafted him for his defense though...
  20. Way to be optimistic! I was thinking he wouldn't make it through the 5th.
  21. I predict 4 1/3 innings of no-hit ball for Bush.
  22. Way to battle there guys. This guy isn't named Nolan Ryan, but he may as well be.
  23. I'm writing this from College Library right now, so I recommend if you go to the library, don't bring anything that could get you distracted like a laptop :-) I'm a believer that you have to cut into your 8 hours of sleep to succeed. However, you can only get away with it for so long. Sometimes I wonder if the people who sleep 8 hours per night and get good grades are just capable of doing more with less time. But then again, most people haven't had to deal with atmospheric dynamics exams. As for actual study habits, I agree that writing/typing it out is the way to go. I've heard also that teaching the material to your roommate/family works really well--you don't truly understand the material until you can teach it to someone else.
