  1. Nobody at the game, everyone in Seattle is watching the Kraken tonight.
  2. The Brewers and Mariners seem to like each other's pitching rejects.
  3. The bandwagon has been building with their recent success and attendance is up quite a bit this year. Weeknights in April are just not a big draw and the crappy spring weather this year isn't helping.
  4. The Mariners use their roof the least out of any team with a retractable roof. Only 10 games per year on average with the roof closed. That said, it was freezing in there last night.
  5. Nice to see the Brewers win in person for the first time in a long time. Fortunately I only have to wait 4 months to see them again in Milwaukee later this year :) :)
  6. Burnes didn’t look too upset. Seems precautionary.
  7. It's not fun to pitch at Wrigley with a strong wind blowing out. On the contrary, it is lots of fun to pitch in the Seattle marine layer. Check out his home/road splits. He's a solid back of the rotation / long relief guy.
  8. Hahahahahahahaha yeah I fear for my life every day. It's terrifying. Everyone's trying to move away. But somehow we have some of the most expensive housing prices in the nation. Strange.

    Retirement

Realistically I'm aiming for 68. Currently 36. Didn't start saving until my early 30s due to attaining some advanced degrees but I'm happy with the trajectory my career is on and I'm currently racing to catch up. I was just down in Phoenix for spring training again this year...other than the food, that city is not my cup of tea. Cost of living is really taking off there as well, it's no longer as cheap as it once was. My wife dreams of becoming an expat and I think I could get on board with that after the kid gets sent to college.
  10. The Brewers will be well represented tonight! I live in Seattle and have Mariners season tickets so of course I will be there tonight right behind the Brewers dugout. It’s my first in-person Brewers game since the last game of 2018! T-Mobile Park is fantastic but it is open air even with the roof closed so dress warm! The food and drink options both inside and around the park are pretty good. Highly favorable matchup for the Brewers tonight but the Mariners have played better than their record and are winning with their usual formula of pitching and defense. Julio Rodriguez is off to a slow start.
  11. If the record falls, the curse is broken and we can go back to the World Series! (that’s what I’m telling myself…)
  12. After watching two #6 starters face each other in this 9-8 Cubs/Mariners game, I think we’re far from the only team with rotation depth issues.
  13. West coast Brewers fans represent!!!
  14. It is lovely to see both Philly and Boston on the other side of that bracket.
  15. Everyone talks about this record like it is a done deal, but it's far from a lock to maintain a 40 goal/year pace in his age 38 and 39 seasons. If he drops to a 30-something goal/year pace then it gets pushed to 2026, and that's assuming he stays healthy. He'll probably get it, but I won't feel confident until he has another 30+ goal season next year.
  16. I feel terrible for Pirates fans...it's the first time in ages they are fielding at least a somewhat competitive team and this happens the second week of April. Brutal.
  17. Last weekend Seattle gave away 20,000 Julio Rodriguez bobbleheads to a crowd of 45,000. Everyone who wasn’t in line by 3:30 didn’t get one. The game started at 6:40.
  18. Those 161-1 predictions after the first game are looking pretty good right now.
  19. The Cards haven't lost 90 games since 1990. A whole generation of fans who has never seen them truly suck, even for a single year. I would love nothing more than for them to quickly fall 10 or 15 games under .500 and be completely irrelevant all year. Have they ever been sellers at the deadline? It's good for a fan base to experience some lean years. It makes you appreciate the good times.
  20. Winker+Toro for Wong is looking like a total steal. Kolten looks washed up.
  21. I was never a Yadi fan but I always wondered how many Cards managers looked brilliant because of him. I think the answer might be at least 3, possibly 4.
  22. Too soon to re-evaluate my preseason prediction of mid-80s. We're a long way from game 162. Lots to like so far but also several things not to like. So far the young guys have performed well for one week...I'll get more excited if they carry something at least close to that performance through weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.
  23. It was well below the zone, but it didn't have much break to it.
