  1. I clearly haven't read enough fangraphs lately and am now getting into a sequencing rabbit hole... It seems like our ability to see more pitches is the big one that gets missed -- high BB rate overall and lower K rate especially with runners on base. Effective deployment of platoons is the other one, with Vaughn obviously being the current poster child for most effective platoon player in MLB.
  2. That's really interesting. What's our secret? Baserunning?
  3. Giannis saved the Bucks from being relocated. The Braves moved to Atlanta.
  4. Me too. I don’t get the October comparisons. You don’t need your #7 starter and a bunch of low leverage relievers in October. This was a throwaway game that they won anyway and in hilarious fashion.
  5. I don't know what we did to please the baseball gods but I hope we keep doing it. Kuhnel is out there sweating bullets and Murphy has already decided that he'd rather lose the game than burn another arm or go to extras. Reds fans must hate us. We are the new Cardinals except without the self righteousness.
  6. Really interesting article. It certainly paints Counsell in a more favorable light than Stearns. The Counsell comments about team identity are interesting. The Brewers have an extremely strong and coherent identity and they also have strong buy in from the fanbase It has taken the better part of 10 years for us to achieve that.
  7. The change to GitHub Copilot pricing on June 1 was the biggie. The cheap Uber rides are over and we’re hooked. The demand for cheap, cutting edge AI is insatiable but how long does it take to get there if it is even possible?
  8. Maybe we all win then if he stays with Detroit. For LA it's really just a matter of waiting 6 months until they can write him a check.
  9. Market seems to be thinking about another correction again. Interest rate forecast combined with AI spending jitters. I don't think the oil problem is over yet but at current prices it's not that big of a deal except for how it affects the interest rate outlook. There is still quite of SPR capacity available to draw down.
  10. Strongly agree with this take. Half the argument for us trading for him in the first place is to keep him away from the Dodgers.
  11. Chourio, Turang, Contreras in that order.
  12. It's a true godsend that they won a championship so we don't have to look back in shame on the Giannis era. In the long run I think the glass half full view will win out because a ring is a ring and there is a parallel universe where Durant's toe was behind the line and Giannis sees the writing on the wall and peaces out a few years earlier. The glass half empty view is that even with mediocre management and better injury luck we should have been in the finals 3-4 times and won at least two championships. With great management and great injury luck we could have been a dynasty.
  13. I thought this trade was going to suck? We got the entire Heat roster and a ton of picks.
  14. MLB run differential leaders: LAD: +133 MIL: +119 NYY: +112 ATL: +97 The other 6 teams with positive run differentials combined: +84
  15. The national media seems to think that if the Dodgers want Skubal they can get him. It sucks that there are only 4 elite teams this year and two of them are NYY and LAD. It wouldn't be in our best interest to get in a prospect bidding war with big market teams, but if Skubal goes to any of the 4 elite teams (ATL, LAD, NYY, and us), it elevates that team to being the overall favorite.
  16. Lose the Miz and Harrison games and (probably) win the Gasser one, just like we all predicted.
  17. Correct ruling IMO. Harper had no plans to stop at 2nd even if he was out by a mile. He was going full speed and not even looking at the cutoff man.
  18. Seattle originally had a scheduled doubleheader this weekend but after yesterday’s WC game got announced as a noon start they moved it to Friday night.
  19. Smith’s splitter is ridiculous. Tip your cap.
  20. All long term FA deals have frontloaded production and backloaded pay. We’re top 10 in MLB in WAR and OPS from the DH position.
  21. Interesting defensive effort by Bauers. .050 xBA
  22. Smith is a tough one to hit but maybe they'll get to him in the 9th.
  23. If we can get out of this down 1 we’ll win the game.
  24. I had written up a whole post about how Skubal didn't guarantee postseason wins for the Tigers and how the concept of windows doesn't apply to us. But honestly, I freaking want Skubal like the rest of you. Miz is a once-in-a-lifetime type talent. Our past aces are not a worthy comparison. History suggests that we won't keep winning at a 95 game pace forever. MLB fans are begging for a true contender to step up and put an end to the Dodgers' dynasty. Why not us?
  25. I don't know if Frelick has a future here but the Brewers are not ones to sell low.
