  1. Apparently the proposal from MLB was a $171 million floor which is higher than I thought it would be. I'll believe it when I see it in the approved CBA.
  2. I’m assuming the floor would be below our current payroll, so a floor would force more spending by our competition without giving us any boost. Even distribution of local media revenue would be incredibly good for the Brewers (historically last in local revenue) and crippling for the Dodgers (first in local revenue). Sign me up.
  3. I strongly agree. There also seems to be quite a bit of wishful thinking from Brewers fans that the new CBA will be advantageous to us, but most of the suggestions seem to be the opposite. Reduced team control? Bad for us. Salary floor? Bad for us. International draft? Bad for us. Salary cap? Depends if it comes with revenue sharing and the way that revenue is redistributed I doubt there will be many owners advocating to help the Brewers.
  4. I think there is a pretty big disconnect between the way the Brewers are managing the regular season and the way that the more vocal critics think the Brewers should be managing the regular season. This year's team has clearly shown itself to be better at pitching and worse at hitting than the previous iteration. On the hitting side, management has taken a patient approach with struggling hitters. On the pitching side, they are prioritizing load management over winning as many games as possible. Many are just done with Murphy as a manager so the complaints are likely going to be nonstop going forward. Just a reality with any long-tenured manager, we know who he is and have to live with that.
  5. I get your perspective and I want to win every game as well, but load management is absolutely critical if we’re going to beat the Dodgers in the playoffs. I’m not willing to burn pitching to win every close game and I don’t have a problem trying to get an extra inning out of Henderson there given who we had available in the bullpen. The weak points in the offense absolutely need to wake up at some point, but that’s a separate concern.
  6. Exactly. And you can't expect much offense in a night game at Petco. I mostly just like that we built such a big cushion that I don't have to care too much about dropping this game. If we burned our leverage pitchers and still lost then I would be more upset.
  7. I have trouble getting too upset over a loss like that, nobody was hitting the ball and we made one bad pitch. Rested all of our leverage relievers. Stupid ending though even if Miller would have probably closed it anyway.
  8. You got your wish! I’m sure 6-9 are just fine as well…
  9. I was about to throw a fit that I can't watch the game tonight because I'm in the Padres market, but the almighty baseball gods have blessed me with a Padres.TV free trial that is happening for this series only.
  10. Bauers' season is nuts. I keep thinking it must be a flash in the pan but there's nothing in the underlying data that would suggest it's a fluke. His savant page is full of reds, he's got even splits, and he's been consistent for quite a while now so pitchers haven't been able to adjust. My fear is that he's played himself into the 3/40M+ range, but it will all depend on how teams weigh his 2026 season vs. his broader career. I also see a scenario where it could be much more than that depending on how the CBA goes. For O'Hearn, the Pirates are paying for a .340-.350 wOBA. Bauers is at .381 actual vs. .370 expected. And his xwOBA was .354 in 2025 so it's not like he's completely a one year wonder. Those are Pete Alonso type numbers. My gut says don't pay it. The falloff is usually steep and painful when these guys lose a bit of bat speed in their early 30s. If it was in the 20s of millions then absolutely, but I don't think it will be. If there's a salary floor in the CBA then Bauers could be looking at $50-60M if there are suddenly 6-8 new suitors that need to sign FAs to get to the minimum. That's half the reason Pittsburgh signed O'Hearn in the first place -- they know what's coming and what it will mean for mid-priced FAs.
  11. The Padres rolled through the easy part of their schedule. I have a feeling they will have different results against the #1 pitching staff in baseball.
  12. You only need about 10 days on an MLB roster to make an entire year of AAA salary, so it’s a pretty big deal. (guys on the 40 man do a little better but they still are making way more for every day in the bigs)
  13. One would think that eventually the baseball gods will deliver some chaos in the Wild Card series, but the odds of the Phillies/D'Backs/Padres/random other wild card team going into Dodger stadium and taking 2/3 have to be slim to none. Last year all of the slumping Dodgers magically started playing well around September 20.
  14. 5/100 to Cal Raleigh looked really good for one year. Not so much in year 2.
  15. Pathetic, awful performance. Murph should be ashamed. 74-44
  16. I prefer the strategy to go all in on winning prior to extras in a tie game. It didn’t work out but they might win anyway.
  17. Once Bae was up 2-0 I would have put the take sign on, the third pitch was a ball. Then you can have Hamilton bunt them to 3rd
  18. Many of those guys had some excellent performances in the postseason in 2025. Good reminder that our role players are just as likely to get hot at the right time.
  19. This team is so fundamentally sound. Just a clinic today in what otherwise might have been a tossup of a game.
  20. I love the idea of deploying a well-rested Ashby in one-inning stints. Unfair to the opponents that we could potentially have him as the #4 or #5 best option out of the pen.
  21. I'm fine if Frelick never sees our MLB roster again. I was hoping we could ship him at the deadline.
  22. As bad as Yelich has been, he's still got Frelick beat by like 30 points of xwOBA.
