  1. I would almost rather see the Phillies in the NLDS. Better chance to upset them in a best of five. http://images.yuku.com/image/bmp/52525e49ef885633cb731ab810d64eb5ad9ff21.bmp These are the playoff predictions from the last time the Brewers faced the Phillies in the first round (I don't know why I saved this). I know what you are saying, that with a smaller sample of games to play, there is a greater chance of an upset, but I'd still rather have the D-Backs try for that unlikely upset first. I have no faith in the Brewers matching up against the Phils staff.
  2. I so desperately do not want to see the Phillies in round 1 of the playoffs (or at all if it can be helped).
  3. I would say he's just rusty. He misread the ball over his glove. He should have broke back first and then made the angle to the ball. I think on a good night he makes that catch, but on a good night most centerfielders wouldn't have been able to make that catch from the shallow starting position he had.
  4. Darn Gomez. You are usually so reliable on defense.
  5. Alright Yuni, something to cheer about. I'm turning the Brewer volume back up a little bit.
  6. Utley is reportedly missing at least the first two games after getting hit in the head yesterday. He's going to see a concussion specialist. Jimmy Rollins is fresh off the DL, but is getting 'eased' back into the lineup. It sounds like he hasn't fully healed from a strained right groin. Howard has a sore left heal and will sit for today, but will likely be back tomorrow. Now is a good time to sneak a few wins at home.
  7. Is there a link to where Carpenter said he started things? If not, what did Carpenter say exactly on MLB Network? Last night on TV it looked pretty one sided with Nyjer really losing it.
  8. His cursing after the first strikeout probably didn't get things started off right. EDIT: It was a little bit outside, but not enough to argue that much about.
  9. DPR is what logan calls Roenicke. It's a movie reference. I'm surprised that Roenicke is starting Green at second tonight. I look forward to seeing what he can do at the position.
  10. Thursday: Hamels vs. Narveson Friday: Halladay vs. Marcum Saturday: Lee vs. Wolf Sunday: Worley vs. Gallardo I'm really looking forward to this series.
  11. People really want Wolf pitching before Yo in the playoffs? Yo is a better pitcher than Wolf. Don't let this game change your feelings. He's had some well pitched games lately and even had an 8 inning shut out game against the Cardinals earlier in the year.
  12. T. Plush and Prince also had opportunities with RISP, so it's not all on Yuni for that inning.
  13. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/fdc35bbc9f77837e63dccade324a7edc81c30e9.pjpeg Yo's going to be getting into playoff form tonight.
  14. You are probably right about Upton being a bigger threat than Kemp, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a player from a non-contending team get more of the votes than in previous years. Just like the BBWAA began to switch away from "wins" for deciding the Cy Young award, I think we could see some of the voting directed more towards the best overall hitter (player). On ESPN and some of the national broadcasts it seems like there is more debate over what "valueable" means.
  15. I don't live close enough to Milwaukee to attend the game, but I immediately thought about the people who don't own gold t-shirts and don't want to buy them. It's a good marketing strategy, that's for sure. If I were in your shoes, I would run over to Target and buy some plain gold t-shirts for $5. I too would feel left out if I was the one blue spot in a crowd of gold, but if you're not going to be wearing the shirt on a regular basis I don't think it's worth it to run and buy the whole family $30 brewer shirts.
  16. It seems like his to lose at this point. Kemp is his biggest threat right now and Kemp's wOBA is .022 behind Braun at this point, plus you don't really have much of an argument for Kemp being a better defender than Braun. Most of the voters will want a player from a winning team, but even if you view this a "best player of the year award", you can't deny the numbers that Braun is putting up.
  17. 8 innings of 1 run baseball against the Cardinals. Nice game Wolf!
  18. 9 strikeouts through 4 innings for Westbrook. That's crazy, he averages 5.0 K/9 for his career.
  19. 2 out hits by Yuni, Wolf and Hart. Nice work.
  20. Uecker did not participate. He was in a suit and tie. Is that Saito on the left next to DM? Cool picture, it's my desktop now.
  21. Bogusevic just struck out on a Marcum knuckleball. It didn't have a lot of tumble, but enough to finish off a 12 pitch AB.
