  1. It probably helps that the hitters at the bottom of the order are better than the ones at the top (1,2).
  2. Cubs sign BJ Ryan to a minor league contract It's a low risk high reward type of signing, but I don't see Ryan making a big impact in the majors anytime soon.
  3. I probably wouldn't buy the Torpedo again, but the standard green label Sierra Nevada has always been one of my favorites. It's kind of a fall back beer for me. I used to live with a guy who drank way to much Pyramid Hefeweizen so I grew somewhat attached to it. As far as domestic mass distributed hefeweizens, I think Pyramid is one of the best, although not really in the same catagory as any Bavarian hefeweizen. I never was too fond of the Pyrmaid IPA though.
  4. Sierra Nevada sells what they call an "Extra IPA" by the name of Torpedo. Give it a try if you like hops. It's almost too intense. Every couple of months a new variety of Leinenkugels shows up at the local Liquor store in my town. They now have four great Leinies to choose from, but for some reason they don't sell the original or the red. One would think those would be the first beers they would try and market in a new area. I live in Montana, BTW.
  5. They did move him to left field when Hawpe came in.
  6. Yeah, it just wouldn't end, but I thought it was cute. Doesn't make me want to eat a Taco Bell taco though. Speaking of which, doesn't Taco Bell usually have some kind of free taco promotion at the All-Star game?
  7. I wonder if they use that same giant flag for every important sporting event, or if every city has their own.
  8. I read that Cecil Fielder's longest measured homerun was 502', which means Prince beat that record by 1' last night with that 503' blast.
  9. Pujols' comments on Prince were more informative than anything the ESPN guys have to say.
  10. It's a shame to see Benny done for the season. Even if it was for Texas, I would have loved to have seen him pitch in the big leagues this year.
  11. Even though Manny looks like he's putting in very little effort, I think behinds the scenes he puts in a lot of effort with his workouts, watching video and batting and fielding practice. I remember them describing this on espn after he got suspended.
  12. Maybe this quote is coming from the rarely seen #22, Bill Hill.
  13. I don't have a link, but they scrapped this movie, right?
  14. Kemp gets a lot of praise for his defense, and he does make some nice plays, but I still think he's overrated.
  15. Thank God for Mitch Stetter. That man deserves his own fan club. I'm starting it.
  16. Yeah Catalanato! I'm hoping JJ can avoid grounding out to SS here.
  17. That painting of Charles Pfister gives me the creeps.
  18. What is with that lineup? Kendall should be hitting 9th, not leadoff, and Hardy needs to be higher than the 8th spot. I thought Corey was healthy again? Apparently not. At least Gamel is in the lineup tonight.
  19. Fatality? Seeing Parra throw 6 shutout innings is a great feeling. And Rock is right that Rivera is probably due some of the credit.
  20. Wow that was a grinding game if I ever watched one. Nice to get a win. Hopefully we can turn our luck in day games around with another win tomorrow afternoon.
  21. Normally I would say that it's still early, but with the way Dempster was pitching the Brewers are going to need a lot of help.
  22. Great photos. I was at that game yesterday and was most impressed by Brownstein's defense and Prince's patience and baserunning. That kid has some wheels.
