  1. Just because he got demoted doesn't mean the team wants to trade him. I'm quite suprised he got demoted. I think teams sometimes make moves a little too quickly.
  2. Short answer, hellz yea!
  3. For the record, I think it's a better idea to trade Vargas next offseason.
  4. Yo has not done a thing in the bigs, and very little in AAA. Assuming he'd do better than Vargas is pie-in-the-sky. That's a pretty pessimistic attitude. I'm assuming your claim that Yo hasn't done anything in AAA is based on smaller sample? Vargas has had 28 good innings this year. His career ERA is 4.82. He should finish much closer to that than his current number. If Gallardo doesn't post a 4.82 ERA next year I would be fairly dissapointed. If you are talking only second half this year, I say 50/50 Gallardo outpreforms Vargas. (Not his current production, but what should be expected). That's hardly "pie-in-the-sky".
  5. Starting the series off with a win would be very nice to see. This one is a good talent-measurer.
  6. 1.) I agree with Don that Vargas is not a lock to be around here next season. Sure, he's doing fine now, but his preformance wasn't expected to be this good. He'll surely regress. With Gallardo and Villy cruising, I can definately see shipping Vargas and his $5ish million dollar contract out before Opening Day 2008. Not necessarily at the deadline though, especially if he does continue to exceed expectations. More likely to happen in the offseason, possibly to help replace a departed Jenkins/Mench or both. 2.) Pogo, what are "wlaves"? Is that a type of wolf? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. I think I really like the idea of trying to add a real solid back of the pen arm. Not only would it help up a lot this year, but with Cordero expected to leave next season, bullpen would be a need next year. Getting a guy now, like a Putz, would lessen the blow.
  8. They won't do that anyway. They want a name, a stud. You offer that, they ask for Sheets or Cappy, then we say no.
  9. I'd rather add Braun at the deadline and keep whoever we might have to trade for Ensberg. Or trade for bullpen help instead.
  10. I am really pulling for Darren Ford as well.
  11. You take him, if they feel he really is that good. (And I think he is.) What type of pay difference would we expect between what a 7th slot is supposed to get and what Boras will ask for?
  12. Harden's listed as 6-1, so he's not overly short. I want to say I read something that listed a few pitchers such as Harden and called them out for exaggerating their height by a few inches. I'm not positive Harden was listed though...
  13. There is something to be said for Chemestry - and this team has what seems to be perfect Chemestry. I keep it as is unless they offer scott shields. Who would have thought during ST that at this point we'd be saying that we can't move Mench because it'll mess up team chemistry?
  14. He just sounds frustrated to me. When asked what exactly wasn't working out there, he say "everything". Called himself a one-pitch pitcher. He has really high expectations of himself.
  15. Anyone else hearing Sheet's postgame interview? He sounds pretty bitter about being pulled.
  16. At this point, I'd really rather not trade him. What are we going to get for him that would help us more than he can as Jenkins compliment?
  17. Cabrera is one of the best players in the majors. If Braun ends up that good, I'd be thrilled. Don't get too exctied about him though, I'd say its rather unlikely. I'd be 6.5 years of Braun for 2.5 years of Cabrera. Short term its a very good deal, but long term I'm iffy about it. Swap Gwynn for Gross maybe...
  18. At this point, Closser was hitting .188 in AAA and Thomas was hitting .230. Neither seems to be doing well at all, but I think I'd take the guy hitting over 40 points higher. I was talking over their minor league career. Thomas has had just one season that could suggest he has a future. Closser had a few.
  19. Boo. I had Closser pegged as next season's back-up catcher. What are we going to do with Charles Thomas? This seems pretty odd to me. Closser is a better hitter than Thomas, and he plays catcher.
  20. Come see what's brewin' Come see where the good times are! Blank, blankity, blank!
  21. OMG, I missed it again! Crap! But last weeks was amazing!
  22. We win when I say That I think we will get beat So, "we will get beat"
  23. Just checking in now, looks like we got the good Dave Bush tonight. Hurrah!
