  1. 5 to go, I'd be happy with Whitley, Allard, Cameron (probably not signable at this point?), Buehler, or Aiken or Matulla assuming the medicals are looking ok
  2. Will teams pick a guy in the 2015 first round knowing they won't sign them, to get an extra first round pick next year?
  3. And now you nailed it.... I think you got it 100% correct and it is so frustrating being a fan knowing there is only a horizontal, mediocre future instead of a solid plan to win a championship. They don't even have to go the Astros tanking route, they have much better pieces in place and a better farm than what the Astros had when they went into full rebuild mode.
  4. Hate this deal. Why 2 years? No reason for that. All for a guy who was below replacement level last year and is only getting further away from the wrong side of 30. Truly awful deal. Would have rather seen them give a couple $1m deals out for some more depth, like a true 6th starter/swingman and push back Jungmann (and possibly Thornburg) to the 7th and 8th starters on the depth chart
  5. Sanders being bought out and probably not extending Jorge another contract.
  6. I'm not understanding why the brewers would be interested in Sardinas with already having Arcia in the minors. From my (very amateur) point of view, I feel like Hector Gomez has a lot more upside as a possible utility middle infielder than Sardinas.
  7. While at home over the holidays, I've been trying to clean out some clutter/junk from my old room. In doing so, I ran across the December 1996 issue of SI for Kids which holds the 1996 Tiger Woods card on the page of 9 cards. In doing some research, it looks like it can be quite valuable. Has anyone had any experiences buying or selling one of these? I guess I'm just trying to figure out the next step to take to sell it (post as a whole magazine, post as the sheet of cards, cut out the Woods and send it in to Beckett for grading, etc) Thanks in advance for any tips!
  8. I use the free version from Avast and the free version from malwarebytes.org
  9. The Texas Rangers had the Turnpike Troubadours after a Friday game in July, the stage might have taken 20 minutes after the game ended to set up. They put it out just past 2nd base, some people were allowed on the infield to get up to the stage(think those tickets were like $10 or so extra on top of the game ticket), and all seats were first come first serve on the field level after the game. Also, the next night the Astros had Jason Derulo, but they set up the stage a bit differently. The stage was right along the first base line, and if I remember correctly, the stage was actually on the home plate side of 1b, and again seats were first come first serve down on the field level once the game was over. Again, it was roughly 20 minutes after the game for the concert to start.
  10. Isn't it kind of crazy that it is nearly two months and this position still has not been filled?
  11. Kind of a random question, and if DM is still the GM, I don't see him even thinking about this, but what do people think it would cost for the Brewers to acquire another Round A or B Compensation pick? These were the three competitive balance round picks traded last year: Houston receives Baltimore's 2014 Competitive balance round A pick, OF LJ Hoes and SP Josh Hader for SP Bud Norris and International signing bonus slot # 91 Pittsburgh recevies Miami's 39th overall draft pick for Bryan Morris # 69 Arizona receives San Diego's 2014 compensation round B draft pick, RP Joe Thatcher and RP Matt Stites for SP Ian Kennedy. Seems to not be that much value given up for these picks. Maybe Miami would be interested in trading their pick again. Wonder if the Crew would be able to pick up an extra pick while dealing a SP this offseason, as part of a bigger package
  12. I'm not chiming in with any names, as I haven't done any research about possible talent for next year's draft, but I'm really hoping they don't sign a FA in which they'd lose the first rounder, and I really hope they don't trade away the compensation pick either. That would leave them picking at #17, #35, and #53. I would hope they would be able to draft a trio similar to what they took in 2014. I'd start to feel a lot better about the farm system at that point.
  13. Wow, I don't even know where to begin. "People don't gravitate towards cities, that's why the majority of them are decrepid dumps." .... what? you think people are leaving NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Boston, Miami, etc etc? Just because Detroit is a mess doesn't mean all other big cities in the country are "decrepid dumps" Big bad downtown Milwaukee scares you too much to go to it? Arenas help revitalize a city, not just by an NBA team, but all of the other types of events that an arena like that can attract, or should try to attract. On non-game nights, they have to do a good job of bringing in concerts and other types of events (Globetrotters, wrestling, rodeos, etc) that can sell out the arena. When you have all sorts of different people coming to the arena for basketball, concerts, and what ever other events they can attract, those people will go out to bars, go out to eat, need places to stay, etc which help build up the area around the arena. Yeah the parking prices are a real pain, but get creative and find a cheaper/alternative way to park and get to the game/event. Thank you for reminding me why I moved away from Wisconsin.
  14. Per Hoopsrumors.com the Bucks are sending the Clippers a 2015 2nd round pick, which is the Clippers own 2nd rounder and the Bucks are receiving a 2017 first round protected pick. If that's truely the case, I do like this trade. Just keep adding future assets.
  15. If they dealt a first rounder, that's a real head scratcher and should be the nail in the coffin for Hammond. After a somewhat promising summer (no major screw ups, stay young) this would be a real blow.
  16. I see the contracts of Napoli/Fiers basically washing out with Gallardo/Reynolds. And I see the improvement from Reynolds to Napoli as being a much greater improvement than the drop off from Gallardo to Fiers. Napoli currently has a OPS+ of 132 this season, compared to Reynolds at 96, according to baseball reference. Fangraphs has Napoli with a 2.4 WAR and Reynolds at 1.7. Also has Gallardo at 1.7 WAR for 2014, so would be getting a "more valuable" player in the swap. I think a Lohse, Garza, Peralta, Fiers, Nelson rotation is a really solid, but not great rotation with a much improved lineup. I would be a big fan of Napoli hitting 5 or 6. Gomez, Lucroy, Braun, A-Ram, Napoli, Krush, Scooter, Segura. I also wouldn't be opposed to seeing Jason Rogers at 1b next year as well.
  17. With the Red Sox signing Rusney Castillo, they've got quite a logjam of hitters. Cespedis, Castillo, Victorino, Craig, Ortiz, Betts, Bradley Jr, Pedroia, Holt, Middlebrooks, 10 guys for 7 spots (excluding SS which I would say is Xander's spot and C, because I don't believe any of them catch). The Sox dealt away two of their main starters at the deadline this year, so they might be looking for a stopgap SP until some of their prospects are more ready. Seems like this could be a win-win for both sides, each team trading from an area of strength for an area of weakness, and i believe they would both make about the same $ next year and both with next year as the last year of their contracts (assuming the Brewers pick up the Gallardo option) Thoughts?
  18. http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/20/us/james-foley-life/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 What a horrible ending to his disappearancece. RIP and prayers to the family.
  19. I've got the Cubs broadcast on, are Davey and Rock doing the game tonight on FSWI?
  20. Through the games of 7/29, here are the 10 Brewers with the most ABs on the season, with their wRC+ and WAR's according to Fangraphs: Carlos Gomez 138 4.2 Jonathan Lucroy 141 4.0 Jean Segura 59 -0.4 Khris Davis 112 1.5 Ryan Braun 134 2.0 Scooter Gennett 121 2.2 Aramis Ramirez 107 1.4 Mark Reynolds 98 1.7 Lyle Overbay 81 -0.2 Rickie Weeks 103 0.3 and a wild card: Martin Maldanado 101 0.4 If DM really wants to make a move at the deadline, a SS and a 1B both seem to make more sense than a starting pitcher. It's been 2/3 of a season and Segura has been just plain awful all year and over the last half of last season. Might be time to pick up a SS and send him down to AAA for some time. I assume he has options left? Also to have Reynolds and Overbay both below league average hitting as your 1B is a joke. Maldanado, albeit in a very small sample (only 70 abs all year???) is hitting slightly better than the 1b options.
  21. What are the criteria for sending someon to the AFL? I thought they had to have spent some time in AA before being sent, unless I'm remembering incorrectly, but a team could send 1 or 2 players that have topped out at A? I know it usually isn't good to look too far ahead when it comes to prospects, but I would really like to see Arcia and Taylor in the AFL in 2015, so I would say to leave them off this year. Like the idea of Yadiel Rivera, D'Vo, Garfield, Zarraga, Orf, Magnifico, Cravy as mentioned before. I would like to see them send some guys that might be useful and cheap role players in the next year or two. Some other names: Jason Rogers, Nick Shaw, Greg Holle, Drew Gagnon, or David Goforth.
  22. So there's a rumor going around Orlando offered the No.4, No.12 and Aaron Afflalo for the No. 2 and the Bucks turned it down?? Also, with those same rumors is that the Hornets offered No.9 and a player to Orlando for Afflalo. Turning No.2 into No.4,No.9,No.12, and a player? Sign me up for that.
  23. I feel like that's the issue with Parker and Wiggins, is what do you do with the combo of Giannis and whoever you pick? Parker is more of a PF than a SG, whereas Wiggins is probably more suited to potentially play a SG role. I apologize in advance, this is more of a fantasy scenario than anything, but I feel like the Bucks need to add as many assets as possible for the future, and I really don't think there's all that much difference between Wiggins/Parker/Exum. With that aside, there is so much news out there that the Sixers really want Wiggins, so I hope Hammond takes advantage of that. I really doubt they would deal the 3 & 10 for the 2, but they also have 5 second rounders. What about 3, 32, and 47 for the #2? After that, there is also a lot of talk about the Utah Jazz wanting Parker, because of the talent level as well as his ties/draw to their Mormon community. With that in mind, it sounds like they may be willing to deal Alec Burks with the 5 to move up. How about the 3 + a second rounder (say the 47 the would hypothetically get from Philly) for the 5 + Burks? The only way I would do both of those above, if they would have a deal in place with the Magic to move back up to 4. What about Knight + 5 for the Magic's 4 & 12 so the Bucks could still nab Exum at 4. I just feel like they should really take advantage of these reports on how high the 6ers are on Wiggins, and potentially Utah on Parker, especially when Exum fits the overall look of the team in the future much better than Wiggins or Parker, and I believe Exum has an even higher ceiling than either of the other two guys and pick up extra assets along the way.
