  1. Time for an unlikely Cardinals hero, like, pretty much every other time...
  2. I can blame Roenicke. You give away an out by having Figaro hit and then leave him in to give up the game-winning HR? I think Melvin is responsible for keeping Wang on the roster, but Roenicke doesn't like him so he's protesting by never using him. Is this the same Wang who gave up a zillion runs last time out? Just checking, because it seems like we've anointed the kid as the next Rollie Fingers already.
  3. I guess I'd rather our "shaky spring training" 2013 closer got the work in, rather than a Rule 5 "garbage time" guy, frankly.
  4. Will Smith should have a good game today. "Iiiiiin West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the playground was where I spent most of my days...."
  5. 120 some posts, much giggling and general japery about Wang Chung, and I can't believe nobody went here!
  6. In answer to the question of how "lesser" teams like Switzerland have a higher seeding, this BBC article explains it perfectly. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25134584 Basically, a country has a world ranking based on who they play, and their results. Kinda like college football rankings. A win against a higher ranked team in a competition, such as the World Cup or Euros always gets more ranking points than a friendly (exhibition match) against a lesser power. By playing lowly Indonesia recently, the Netherlands may have lowered their world ranking enough to not be in a position to get one of the top seeds when the draw was announced.
  7. I'm not looking to be confrontational, but what would constitute an acceptable apology to you? I have been trying to take as neutral an approach as I can to this whole circus, but am frankly not sure how doubts won't crop up in my head whenever Ryan speaks. I mean, ANYTHING the dude says now can theoretically be called into question. Didn't he already 'bet his life' in a previous statement that now appears to be false? Where do you go from there? "No, really, this time I swear" ? "I swear on the lives of the children I might have, unless the 'roids have shriveled my testes to the size of raisins", perhaps?
  8. His parents surely were!
  9. Hate that sacrifice there, just hate it. Swing away and roll the dice. Did the 8th inning teach us nothing?
  10. Burgleflickle..... It's hard to stay positive - but what else is there?
  11. Just make sure you redeem your voucher within an hour of the start of the game. Dumbest. Random. Rule. Ever.
  12. I know it was a rhetorical question but the answer is no, that would not be the sane decision. If you think we should expect Weeks to bat .100 in any situation, you are off by a very large amount. Especially given the PH possibilities. It's not like we have Matt Stairs ridin' the pine for just such an occasion. Jeff Bianchi and Alex Gonzalez vs. Rickie? That's like comparing a turd, to a turd on fire.
  13. I am going to predict that every batter for the rest of the season makes an out and I will be right about 68% of the time! Predicting Rickie being out is a higher percentage. I've been a huge fan of his, but this is getting ridiculous
  14. Hey, for shiggles, let's trot Axford out there for another inning. I mean, what could go wrong?
