ROUND 36: R.J. Johnson - RHP 6'3", 185, R/R, Starkville HS (MS) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/rjjohnson.jpg SCOUTING REPORT: Johnson is an exciting athlete, with true 5-tool potential that starred at both shortstop and on the mound. He has good power potential and speed and was one of the more exciting offensive performers in Mississippi. The Brewers drafted Johnson for his promise on the mound, with a tall, lithe and fluid body and overall delivery. He throws in the upper-80s with inconsistent secondary offerings, but a ton of potential for more. His delivery and mechanics need work as well, and just needs as much experience as he can get to smooth out the rough edges. NOTES & INFO: Born 3/23/1992. Has offers from LSU-Eunice and Wallace State (AL). Also considering Meridian CC. ROUND 37: Seth Harvey - RHP 6'2", 210, L/R, Washington State University http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/68/681268m.jpg SCOUTING REPORT: Harvey is a college senior who has spent his entire career coming out of the bullpen for the Cougars. Due to the lack of consistent secondary pitches, he struggled in a limited role serving as his team's closer, although he does have a good fastball that can approach the mid-90s. He's a strong-bodied righty that likely will serve a key relief role in the lower levels of the system. NOTES & INFO: Born 1/20/1988. He has an aggressive swing and gets good extension, but may be prone to strikeouts. His bat is ahead of his glove at this stage in his baseball development, but he has seen a lot of time behind the plate the last few years. NOTES & INFO: Born 12/2/1987. Hit .310/.444/.550 in 283 PA. ROUND 32: Jason Rogers - 1B 6'2", 250, R/R, Columbus State University http://www.csucougars.com/sports/bsb/2009-10/photos/09-10Action_Shots/rogersHR_urbana.jpg?max_width=530&max_height=310&crop=true SCOUTING REPORT: Rogers is a huge, hulking slugger that blasted 26 home runs this year, on his way to being named the Peach Belt Conference's player of the year. It's easy to see where his power comes from, with a barrel chest, thick forearms and a thick lower half, built somewhat similar to the Brewers current first baseman Prince Fielder. Conditioning will be a concern with Rogers, although he shows good athleticism for his body type. He will have to prove he can be productive swinging a wood bat against better competition on a daily basis, but could return to school for his senior year of eligibility. NOTES & INFO: Born 3/13/1988 Named first-team All-American by Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association poll and third-team All-American team by Daktronics. Hit .419/.513/.869 in 275 PA and was 16-16 in stolen bases. ROUND 33: William Kankel - LHP 5'10", 177, L/L, University of Houston http://images.chron.com/photos/2010/03/27/21024327/600xPopupGallery.jpg (Bob Levey/Houston Chronicle) SCOUTING REPORT: Kankel is yet another recently converted positional player as a former outfielder with a plus arm. He moved to the mound this spring for the Cougars, and while he flashed plus velocity on his fastball, he really struggled with command and his secondary offerings. As a lefty that can sit around 90 mph, he'll be given plenty of chances to succeed, but will require patience to develop properly. NOTES & INFO: Born 5/2/1988 In 24 G/10 GS: 61.1 IP, 68 H, 55 R, 48 ER, 55 BB, 12 HBP, 45 K, 7 HR (7.04 ERA). NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: Houston player profile -

ROUND 34: Conor Fisk - RHP 6'2", ?, R/R, Grafton HS (WI) http://cdn.ngin.com/attachments/photo/0304/3701/PICT8245_large.jpg (Wisconsin RockHounds) SCOUTING REPORT: Fisk consistently throws in the 88-90 range, and touched 92 a few times this spring. He also throws a slider and is working on a changeup, although he needs more experience throwing both pitches. Overall he is more of a thrower than a pitcher at this point in time, and will need more innings to hone his craft. He has thick proportions and will have to work hard to keep his conditioning in check, but if he does so should be a strong and sturdy right-hander whose velocity could improve over the next two or three years as he continues to improve on his entire game. NOTES & INFO: Born 4/4/1992. Committed to play for Wabash Valley Community College (IL). NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: Baseball America scouting reportBleacher Report interview -

ROUND 35: Tc Mark - C 6'1", 205, L/R, Pinnacle HS (AZ) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/tcmark.jpg SCOUTING REPORT: Mark is a mature big-bodied slugger who currently catches but may have to move to either first base or left field at the next level. He doesn't have the quickness to stay behind the plate, and the lack of foot speed may also limit him to first. He has a big, powerful left-handed swing that can crush pitches with intriguing home run power. NOTES & INFO: Born 12/15/1991. Committed to play for the University of Arizona. Full name is Taylor, self-styled as "Tc". NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: Baseball America scouting report -
ROUND 27: Ryan Platt - RHP - SIGNED 6'1", 195, L/R, University of California-Riverside (California) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/ryan_platt.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Platt is a good athlete that has bounced in between the bullpen and the starting rotation during his college career. Before transferring to UC Riverside, he spent two years at LA Pierce College, where he transferred from Sacramento State. He has been in college since 2004, and he turns 24 in August. He has good stuff and a good fastball, but struggles with command and the consistency of his offspeed stuff. He's probably best off in the bullpen at the next level where he has the stuff to succeed if he can hone his command as a pro. NOTES & INFO: Born August 25, 1985 NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: UC Riverside Player Profile

ROUND 28: Eugene Escalante - C 5'10", 195, R/R, Rodriguez High School (California) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/geno_escalante.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Escalante is a short yet compactly strong backstop that has an exciting power arm/power bat combination. He was ranked as one of the top high school cachers in the nation, and one of the better overall prospects in Southern California along with fellow Brewers' draftee Cameron Garfield. While he has good speed and quickness (he starred as a fullback in football), particularly for a catcher, and will need to work hard to maintain his flexibility. He has good power at the plate, and enjoyed a strong senior year, but scouts still aren't sold on his bat. His strong arm allows him to gun out baserunners, but he needs to work on the finer aspects of catching. He has committed to play for Cal State Fullerton, which will make him a tough sign as a 28th rounder that could have gone much higher in the draft. He has the potential to be a much higher draft pick in three years if he's able to put his entire game together in college, assuming he doesn't sign. NOTES & INFO: Born June 25, 1991 Committed to Cal-State Fullerton NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: MLB.com scouting video Eugene Escalante High School Stats (MaxPreps)

ROUND 29: Chandler McLaren - OF 6'4", 185, L/R, Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (Ontario, Canada) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/chandler_mclaren.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: McLaren has interesting offensive potential as a left-handed hitting corner outfielder that may eventually move to first base. With good size, he has strong wrists and forearms that give him good bat speed and exciting power potential. He is as raw as they come, and needs plenty of at-bats to refine his swing, but he also has interesting upside. One report I read on McLaren noted that he is built like Justin Morneau, although Morneau is a popular player comparison for any left-handed slugger that hails from north of the border. NOTES & INFO: Born October 2, 1991 NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: Guelph's McLaren drafted by Brewers

ROUND 30: Brandon Sizemore - 2B - SIGNED 5'10", 205, R/R, College of Charleston (South Carolina) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/brandon_sizemore.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Sizemore has enjoyed a fine college career, posting solid numbers offensively with a knack for getting the big hit. A shorter, strongly built second baseman, he profiles as a second baseman/third baseman at the next level, likely serving as a utility player if he reaches his full potential. He has shown nice power and strike zone discipline, and has hit left-handed pitchers much better than right-handed pitchers during his career. ROUND 27: Alex Jones - RHP 6'6", 190, R/R, Jacksonville State University http://www.jsugamecocksports.com/images/2009/12/9/headshot_2_Jones_Alex.jpg SCOUTING REPORT: Jones missed the 2009 season after having Tommy John surgery, and returned this year to replace Ben Tootle as the Gamecocks' primary closer. He has shown electric stuff and a deceptive low three-quarters delivery that is almost a side-arm approach similar to Chad Bradford. Jones' best pitch is slider that has very good two-plane break, and he also throws his fastball in the low-90s. His stuff returned this spring, but is still working on improving his command. He was used primarily as a relief pitcher this spring before he made two starts late in the season. His fastball sits in the 89-91 range and has touched 93. He also throws a plus slider, his best pitch, giving him the potential for two solid pitches should the Brewers continue to develop him as a short reliever. NOTES & INFO: Born 1/13/88. ROUND 24: Peter Fatse - 2B - SIGNED 5'10", 170, L/R, University of Connecticut (Connecticut) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/peter_fatse.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Fatse is a shorter and smaller outfielder/second baseman that has a good approach as a left-handed hitter and good speed. He's a hustling player that has drastically improved his game over the last year, and has 23 career home runs at UConn, a sign that there is some pop in his bat. His upside is as a utility player at the highest level, and he should be able to handle the lower levels of the system well.
