ROUND 25: Demetrius McKelvie - OF - SIGNED 6'2", 210, L/R, East Columbus High School (North Carolina) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/demetrius_mckelvie.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: McKelvie is a special athlete, one that has a promising two-sport career awaiting him at Marshall. On the gridiron, he's a hard hitting safety with good speed and a strong, physical stature. One the baseball diamond he's a fleet-footed centerfielder with five-tool ability. He has good power potential and a nice arm in the outfield with enough speed to cover ground and steal bases. Keeping him away from Marshall as a 25th rounder will be difficult, but he has shown enough interest in baseball by participating in numerous showcase and tournament events, including playing for the Ohio Warhawks, a national powerhouse travel team, to not rule out signing. His fastball sits in the mid-to-upper-80s, and many believe he will start to throw closer to 90 more consistently as he continues to mature and hone his game. He also throws a big, slow curveball and polished changeup. He is a good overall athlete that can also swing the bat and play the outfield well. He throws from a three-quarters delivery with a loose arm, throwing his fastball in the upper-80s and can touch the low-90s on occasion. He also throws a slow curveball and a changeup. ROUND 24: Greg Hopkins - 3B 6'1", 200, R/R, St. John's University http://allthingsvalleyleague.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341bfe6a53ef0120a69e6e2a970c-800wi SCOUTING REPORT: Hopkins is something of a 2B/3B 'tweener in that he doesn't have the ideal arm strength for third base and doesn't have the ideal quickness and range for second. There is some power in his balanced, level swing, but he is more of a line drive hitter. A steady college performer and a solid overall athlete, he may settle in as a versatile utility infielder, as he does have some experience at shortstop as well. NOTES & INFO: Born 11/22/88. ROUND 25: Nick Shaw - SS 5'11", ?, L/R, Barry University http://www.barry.edu/athletics/images/26Nick_Shaw08Belmont34.jpg SCOUTING REPORT: Shaw has been a steady offensive performer at Barry University since his freshman year. He employs a very patient approach at the plate, and recently set the NCAA record for career walks with 215, drawing 49 this past year. He has a quick bat although there isn't much power to his swing. He is a smaller athlete with good quickness but may be a better fit at second base. NOTES & INFO: Born 8/25/88. ROUND 26: Daniel Gibson - LHP 6'2", 219, R/L, Jesuit HS (FL) http://hometeam.s3.amazonaws.com/%2Fblog-photos%2FSP_305461_LYTT_BASEBALL_6.JPG SCOUTING REPORT: Gibson was rising up some draft boards this spring as his usual upper-80s to low-90s velocity spiked to the 93-94 range on occasion. He is a projectable lefty that does a good job commanding a nice three-pitch mix, including a curveball and a changeup. His curveball needs more consistency, and he needs more experience throwing his changeup, but both pitches have a good foundation. He has an athletic and strong frame and repeats his delivery well. As a 26th-round pick, it may be difficult to keep him away from his commitment to the University of Florida. ROUND 19: Scott Krieger - OF - SIGNED 6'2", 210, R/R, George Mason University (Virginia) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/scott_krieger.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Krieger has been the CAA's top power hitter the past two years, and has set both conference and school records in a variety of notable run-producing category. While he looks like a big-leaguer physically, and has decent overall athleticism, he is limited to left field with good, not great speed and an average arm at best. His prowess at the plate is of course his calling card, with good bat speed and extension with pull power. He should serve as a valuable middle of the order hitter in the lower levels of the system the next few years, but his upside is limited. ROUND 20: Franklin Romero - OF - SIGNED 5'11", 180, R/R, Cerro Coso Community College (California) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/franklin_romero.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Romero has plenty of upside and tools, with an exciting offensive skills set highlighted by good bat speed, budding power and speed. He has an aggressive approach at the plate that needs to be toned down at the professional level for him to succeed, but he can catch up with good fastballs and drive them to all parts of the field. His speed allows him to cover good ground in the outfield. He is raw and needs plenty of experience to develop, but there is definitely upside to his game. ROUND 21: Brian Vigo-Suarez - SS 6'1", 175, R/R, Fossil Ridge High School (Texas) BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Vigo-Suarez is a graceful athlete that makes the game look easy. He has taken well to shortstop, and also has the necessary tools to hit atop a batting order with good speed and a line drive bat. He has good size and a frame that should allow him to add more strength. He will never be a power hitter, but has gap power and enough speed to leg out doubles and triples. His defense is his strongest attribute at this point in time, with good range, soft hands and a strong arm, but overall he is raw and needs plenty of time to develop. NOTES & INFO: Born December 12, 1991 in Puerto Rico Committed to Navarro College NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: 3 Amigos settle in Vigo-Suarez will continue his summer league season

ROUND 22: Michael Fiers - RHP - SIGNED 6'3", 205, R/R, Nova Southeastern University (Florida) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/michael_fiers.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Fiers has always been able to miss bats, doing so with aplomb during his college career, at Nova, Cumberland College and Broward Community College. He also has enjoyed success in the summers in between, being awarded pitcher of the year honors in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) in 2007. He is now a senior that turns 24 a few days after the draft. Despite his prototypical frame and gaudy strikeout numbers his fastball tops out in the upper-80s to low-90s, and overall he has a good, not great four-pitch repertoire. It is expected that he will continue to add strength and overall weight to his thick-proportioned frame, and has an equally big swing at the plate. That gives him exciting power potential, but also prone to strikeouts. While he has a strong arm, he will have to move from behind the plate and likely will be restricted to a corner outfield spot or first base, increasing the importance of his hitting skills. Since then he has improved his power output, but his batting average has dropped to .230 and .262. There is some pop in his swing, although at the expense of increased strikeouts, as he would be better off shortening his swing and altering his approach to hit for better contact. His glove is his strength, with very good middle infield actions, and a quick, accurate release. He positions himself well, and provides valuable leadership on the infield. Known more for his defensive skills than his prowess at the plate, he hit only .226 in 106 at-bats last year, and opened this year as a pitcher, coming out of the bullpen. He has a strong arm and a slow curveball with good arm speed and an athletic, projectable frame, but not surprisingly struggled with command. He's a work in progress that will require some patience, but he has some upside. NOTES & INFO: Born 4/7/89. In 19 G/0 GS: 18.0 IP, 27 H, 20 R, 15 ER, 11 BB, 5 HBP, 4 K, 4 HR (7.50 ERA). He has played shortstop and third base, showing a strong arm at each position and good quickness. The Brewers drafted Berard as a catcher to take advantage of those tools, where he will be one of the better running catchers in the system. There isn't much power to his game, but he has a line drive bat with a knack for making hard contact. NOTES & INFO: Born 12/3/1991. ROUND 16: Ryan Gennett - SS- SIGNED 5'9", 164, L/R, Sarasota High School (Florida) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/scooter_gennett.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: As a left-handed hitter Gennett is one of the best pure hitters with one of the better approaches of any prep player eligible for the 2009 draft. He doesn't have the greatest size, and may not have the range to stick at shortstop, but he is an athletic player that has very good speed as well as a very strong arm. He handles himself very well at second base, and third base could also be an option given his offensive potential and arm strength. Gennett's pitch recognition is uncommon for a high school senior, as he exhibits an incredibly polished approach at the plate. He has very good bat speed and can turn on the best of fastballs, and he performed well on the showcase circuit during the summer of 2008, including his participation in the Aflac All-American Classic. Despite his smaller frame, he has good power potential, and should hit plenty of doubles and triples as well. He had somewhat of a down senior year, which caused scouts to wonder if he may be better off going to college. If he does take his talents to Florida State we may be talking about him as a first-rounder for the 2012 draft. ROUND 17: Tyler Cravy - RHP - SIGNED 6'3", 180, R/R, Napa Valley College (California) BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Cravy is a good all-around athlete that has starred as both a hitter and as a pitcher during his high school and now junior college career. He was named his conference's MVP and set the school record for strikeouts in a season. He doesn't throw particularly hard, relying more on command and guile to record the majority of his outs. He has some upside as a hitter as well, with a tall and projectable frame. He's a young player, only coming off of his freshman year, and may be motivated to return to school next year to improve his standing. NOTES & INFO: Born July 13, 1989 2009 Bay Valley Conference Most Valuable Player Struck out 110 batters in 90.1 IP NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: NVC's Cravy named All-American Napa Valley College's Cravy signs with Brewers

He enjoyed a fine career at South Dakota State, and his repertoire is highlighted by his curveball: A true, slow breaker that is difficult to time, particularly when he's spotting his mid-to-upper 80s fastball. He has a tall and loose, projectable frame, and a fastball that sits in the low-90s with the ability to touch 94. He also throws a good split-fingered fastball. He struggles with command, as he did strike out 128 batters in 96 innings of work, but also walked 50. If he is unable to improve his command he may be a good fit as a short reliever with closer potential. NOTES & INFO: Born 8/5/1990. Drafted by the Brewers in the 44th round in 2009. He is a shorter/stockier lefty with an upper-80s to low-90s fastball. His best pitcher is his slider, which he can run up to the mid-80s. He profiles as a specialist and could be somewhat fast-tracked in that role, following the footsteps of recent draftees such as Casey Baron, Daniel Meadows, Caleb Thielbar and Jon Pokorny. He has a loose, projectable frame and an explosive fastball-slider one-two punch. His fastball can sit in the low-90s and he can approach the 94-95 range at times. He also has a wicked slider that is a wicked pitch when its working for him. His delivery isn't picture perfect, and his strike-zone command comes and goes, meaning he still has a lot of work to do at the next level, but could be a steal if it all comes together for him. NOTES & INFO: Born 3/30/1988. Drafted by New York Yankees in 20th round of 2009 draft. In 12 G/12 GS: 64.1 IP, 58 H, 44 R, 41 ER, 42 BB, 17 HBP, 92 K, 9 HR (5.74 ERA). ROUND 12: Robert Currie - RHP - SIGNED 6'6", 230, R/R, Tusculum College (Tennessee) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/rob_currie.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Currie offers an imposing presence on the mound, built in a similar fashion to fellow '09 draftees such as Eric Arnett, Kyle Heckathorn and Andre Lamontagne. Similar to Lamontagne, Currie struggled with command prior to this year, but seemed to respond well to a move to the bullpen. He has a good enough repertoire to be moved back to the starting rotation, with an upper-80s to low-90s fastball, a mid-70s curveball and a fairly advanced upper-70s changeup. The velocity on his fastball can creep up a few ticks when used in shorter stints when he doesn't have to worry about pacing himself. He has an easy delivery, and was among the Northwoods League leaders in both wins and strikeouts last summer. Despite being an aggressive hitter, he doesn't walk or strikeout as much as you may think, and had a big senior year launching 18 home runs for perennial NAIA powerhouse Lewis-Clark State. he spent two years at Fresno City College before transferring to Lewis-Clark for his final two years. NOTES & INFO: Born June 7, 1987 NAIA All-American honorable mention Hit .379 with a .754 slugging percentage in 2009, with 19 home runs and 71 RBI. He was named his conference's player of the year, and led the nation in triples with 11. He has a very disciplined eye at the plate, and a swing tailored for contact. There isn't much power to his swing though, and that power will likely dip even further when he's not hitting in the powerful Lobo lineup in the hitting-happy MVC. He's a polished overall player that at worst will provide depth, leadership and a hustling, scrappy attitude in the lower levels. NOTES & INFO: Born August 9, 1987 2009 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year 2009 Second Team NCAA All-American Led MWC in batting average (.426), runs scored (72), hits (101), doubles (23), and triples (11) in 2009 NEWSPAPER AND WEB COVERAGE: New Mexico Athletics Profile Lobo Mike Brownstein is MWC Player of the Year Brownstein named Louisville Slugger All-American Brownstein named Ping! ROUND 15: Del Howell - LHP - SIGNED 6'3", 210, L/L, University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa (Alabama) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/del_howell.jpg BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: Howell is an enigmatic prospect. He came to Alabama as one of the state's most decorated two-way talents, and spent more time during his first few years in college swinging the bat and playing the outfield. He has always had a special arm, and started to show how special it can be last summer. His season this year was delayed due to mono, but when he did take the mound he create quite a stir by pitching consistently in the low-90s touching 94-95 on occasion. He also throws a hard slider and a good changeup, giving him three solid to above average offerings. He seemed to hit the wall late in the season, which may have caused him to slide in the draft. Overall he's a good athlete with a tall, lean and wiry strong body that would be able to hold is own as a hitter as a NL pitcher. If the Brewers can get him signed, since it could take early round money, he could be one of the steals of the draft if he's able to continue his success as a pro. A very good all-around athlete, he played linebacker, although a series of injuries and missed time severely limited his playing time in both sports. He has trimmed down and decided to focus entirely on baseball, since transferring to Virginia State. He started the season extremely slow, but finished the season strong, and flashed his 5-tool potential with an exciting blend of power and speed. The talent is there, but he is very raw and will require time and patience for him to develop. NOTES & INFO: Born 1/28/1988.
