Ramirez sure is clutch... if their is such a thing. It is amazing how the Cubs always come through at home. It is borderline ridiculous. They are no better than us on the road but they are unstoppable at home... unless they are playing the Crew.
The Sox announcers are far worse than the Cubs announcers. I don't even think it is all that close. How do Sox fans not get annoyed to the point of insanity on their home run call? Seriously O yeah, go White Sox
In that scenario it certainly isn't DM's problem though. Doug's offer was a whopping $500,000 less per year. Boras would have been an idiot if he asked for $50/4 and rejected a $60/5 deal. More money, more years, and only $500,000 less per year.
It wasn't a hit... it was a Vlad In the end I guess it really didn't matter. Unless he could have thrown 17 innings. I don't even want to know what our lineup looked like for that game.
It doens't even feel like we won. I'll take but it just doesn't feel satisfying at all. Probably because I had my hopes up that Riske coming back would end the bullpen drama, but at least today it was much worse. Come on Dillard for cripes sake.
I hope Mota doesn't sniff the 8th innings anymore now that Riske is back. Hopefully Ned realizes that Mota is a rich man's Turnbow. He can be really good or really bad, if he isn't really good you better have someone up in the pen quick, we got lucky yesterday that he didn't blow the lead before Torres came on. It is amazing how Ned all of a sudden looks like a competent manager again now that we are winning. IMO a managers performance is 95% out of his control.
Needless to say, Adam Dunn won't be traded to the Blue Jays anytime soon... J.P. - http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/postedsports/archive/2008/06/19/jays-notebook-ricciardi-trashes-adam-dunn-on-radio-show.aspx Adam Dunn's comeback - http://www.thelotd.com/ctrent/blog/2008/06/19/dunn_i_dont_know_the_clown My conclusion - There is a reason JP has built one of the most inept offenses in all of baseball, he no freaking idea what he is doing. It all comes down to the strikout debate once again. Hey JP Rod freaking Barajas leads your team with a .821 OPS. Do you know what Adam Dunn's OPS is? Much higher than that
I also just read the article, the fact that Corey turned down the deal after he said previously that wanted "security" really suprised me. Perhaps the Crew isn't valuing him like they should, because he is a darn good future all star type of player
I also was kind of caught off guard by the comment by Tom since we had never heard this before. That seems like it would have been a more than fair offer, but we don't know the years that were offered. If Prince turned that down and it was a 5 year deal, good riddance, that is a lot of guaranteed money to turn down. I don't know if I would be comfortable offering him more than that. The way he is playing this year he is probably losing money
Do we really need a thread like this?, we all know the folks from northsidebaseball are going to come over here and think we are all a bunch of ____. How about some civility?
Apparently Al Gore invented Global Cooling. Either that or Russell Branyan thought the world was a little to hot and decided to take matters into his own hands.
The fact the Fukodome has that many votes really upsets me. If he didn't have a a whole country voting for him he wouldn't have a prayer. An .836 OPS is very ehhhhhh. Braun actually has a higher OPS than all 3 leading vote getters. I just don't like the whole fan voting thing. Any japanese born player who is at least kinda good is going to get a ton of votes, whether they are deserving or not. It also sucks that the Cubs have a huge fan base. I have no problems with Soto being the starting catcher at the all star game but he is probably their only position player who truly deserves to start. Zambrano and Dempster should be their along with a couple reserves. Right now only Sheets and Braun deserve spots for the Brewers. Maybe if Prince goes on a hot streak but he has a lot of ground to make up IMO
I would probably go crazy if I weren't allowed to surf the net a little at work. It helps our the moral. I love my job but you do need a break every once in a while. Brewerfan is that break
A lot of people were picking the Mariners to contend this year. So it does some kind of ironic that those same baseball people who were picking the Mariners to contend are now saying how awful (or atleast not good) of a GM Bavasi was. Just goes to show that you can throw all the money out there, the players still have to play up to expectations.
