  1. Now that Suppan is on the DL it looks like it will be Parra on Friday, McClung on Saturday, and CC on Sunday. So the CC pickup is keeping one start from Manny, I guess any little bit helps
  2. That still wouldn't be enough, Hill has no value at all until he can actually a MLB player out again, Dempster is a FA after this year and Theriot is Theriot, he is solid but certainly can't be considered to be a key negotiating piece.

  5. Well didn't see this coming. This is probably the best move we could make considering his performance of late. So what is the mysterious injury?
  6. In related news, Hardy has been named the Player of the Month for July. All other players have already conceded with the exception of Branyan, it is against the beliefs of the Church of Branyan to concede.
  7. I wouldn't object to Suppan in the bullpen. His performance is like clockwork, good in April, May, September, and October, awful in June, July and August.
  8. I wouldn't go for him, right now I think the Crew as one of the top if not the Top3 in the NL in Sheets, Sabathia, and Parra. Suppan and Bush as a #4 and #5 are certainly serviceable. If I thought the Cubs might have a chance if getting him I might change my mind but just like the Sabathia bidding, I don't think they have the ammunition to pull it off. Burnett sure, Harden I am not so certain.
  9. Does an "every Day Major Leaguer" mean someone who is already starting for the Brewers or someone who has the potential to be an "Every Day Major Leaguer" I wouldn't even know who to guess if their is someone on the list who is currently a starter with the Crew.
  10. I am pretty sure we are 19-8 against lefties, that would leave us a game below .500 against righties
  11. "The Sabathia trade might not be the Brewers' last before July 31 -- they have shown interest in the Giants' Jack Taschner, a left-handed reliever, and Ray Durham, a switch-hitter whom they would use off the bench." This is from Rosenthals latest column. I like the idea of getting Ray Durham, but at this point he might be our starting 2nd baseman before long. I would take his .380+ OBP at leadoff right about now
  12. Some guy at northside baseball posted that Steve Stone just said on the radio that JJ Hardy is the PTBNL? Is he on crack, could it be remotely true, or does Steve Stone have no professionalism whatsoever and is just making crap up at this point?
  13. I am pretty sure I would do Weeks, Escobar, + More Prospects for Jeremy Guthrie, Bradford, and Brian Roberts in a heart beat. I don't know if the Orioles would be interested at all in moving him though. I guess it would depend who the other prospects would be. I beleive Guthrie is under team control for quite a while yet and Bradford I believe is singed through at least next year so as long as that is the case I would be pretty interested.
  14. Buyt we will be getting Cain & Lincecum right after the all star break so it kind of evens out. I am acstatic that we miss Aaron Cook, he is exactly the type of pitcher that gives us fits, I think we need a minimum of 5-2 the rest of the homestand, 4-3 wouldn't be the end of the world but I would be disappointed. We will have CC for 2 games, Sheets for 1 (I think), and Parra for 2 games. As long as Bush/McClung and Suppan can get us 2 wins combined, I think 5 wins is pretty conservative
  15. Agreed, I mean we while have $20+ million coming off the books next year plus the contracts of Hall and Suppan in the following 2 years. There is certianly room for a big FA starting pitcher this year. I will still like this trade ven if Green is a part of it, by no means does it guarantee us a playoff spot but it sure as heck improves our odds. I would like to add another bullpen arm but just by adding CC our bullpen will improve. You can almost expect CC and Sheets to go at least 7, so we would have a decent shot of just having to use Torres, Riske, and Shouse in those games. Therefore eliminating our reliace on Mota and Gagne
  16. Yeah that makes no sense to me either, if they are doing it based upon the Crew's success you would think it would go Periard, Salome, then Jeffress, althought I highly doubt Jeffress would even be in this conversation
  17. My thinking was A. Greg Maddux is probably better than Bush on most days but Bush at his best (like his last start) he is better than Maddux B. Heath Bell would be a huge addition to our bullpen C. Salome is expendable to me because of LuCroy and possibly Lawrie (Plus his defensive questions)
  18. If Rickie is capable of being a competent 2nd baseman Gamel is capable of being a competent 3rd baseman. Gamel still has a year and 1/2 to hone is defensive skills, and he has made improvements this year. Rickie was the worst defender I had ever seen when he first came up and now, while he isn't a GG or even close to it, he is a pretty darn good 2nd baseman. I wouldn't like to see Green go either but if we pull of this trade while keeping our entire AA team with the exception of LaPorta I would be thrilled.
  19. Along potentially with Taylor Green as the PTBNL. That was pure speculation of TH's part though, so I am not going to assume that Green is the PTBNL. Since we didn't even sniff Jackson or Bryson as part of this trade I am thinking no one really has a clue on who the PTBNL might be
  20. Oh god now you are completely freaking me out!! Zach B would be an entirely different story than Zack J. That would suck
  21. I was under the assumption that PTBNL are usually minor parts of the deal. To me Green would not be a minor part to the deal. PTBNL means Melvin gives Shapiro a choice of 5 or so players and he just gives CLE a little more time to scout the players and make their decision?
  22. Why would anyone actually want Zack Jackson. This trade just keeps getting better and better
  23. If this were true this trade would be a steal of the century. I am pretty sure our 2 comp picks could blow Jackson and Bryson out of the water
  24. Didn't Cleveland have something like 10 consecutive years of sellouts on the 90's? While I would expect the Brewers to do that I could easily see the average attendance near 40K a game. Plus the success of the Brewers would likely lead to other revenue producing deal (sponsorships, advertising, ticket prices, etc)
  25. I am fairly certain that Attanasio is pretty confident in the financial condition of the Brewers. The guy owns a huge business I am sure he knows what he is doing. I would almost go so far as to say that a $100M+ payroll for the Brewers is in the near future. We almost have Top 10 attendance and their merchandise is just flying off of the shelves
