  1. I find it funny that the few Cubs fans I have talked to since learning of the trade and the fans who post on Cubs message boards are kind of viewing this as an ehhhhhhh trade? They do realize we jut picked up last years Cy Young winner, we didn't mortgage our future, we still have a good/great offense and we still have plenty of pieces available to trade for some relief pitching. Perhaps they will change their mind when they have to face Sabathia, Sheets, and Parra in the Final four game series at Miller Park. We also have one heck of any easy schedule the rest of July, they better have us by at least 5 games going into September because they have a ton of road games (they have actually been worse than us on the road). I have also noticed that Manny Parra is really flying under the radar right now as well. Right now he is a #3 type pitcher but he quickly developing into a #2. If we can resign Sheets we still have one heck of a rotation next year
  2. Brewers Get: Greg Maddux Heath Bell Padres Get: Angel Salome Dave Bush Alex Periard / Chris Errecart
  3. Would it be in the realm os possibilty to pry Soria from the Royals, Sherrill from the Orioles, or Fuentes from the Rockies? One of those three would make me feel much better about our bullpen.
  4. Now all we need to do is find some bullpen help, I like Shouse, Riske, and Torres but we really need a solid 8th inning guy. Who that might be I ahve no idea. We now have a huge luxury in that we have 2 starts who will each go 7 innings 8 games out 10, that fact alone should help the bullpen. At this point I would rather keep Bush in the rotation, but I would be quick to stick McClung back in their if Bush starts to suck again
  5. This is exactly my point. We are aoffering far too much in this deal. laPorta by himself is far and away better than the Dodgers offer. Melvin is basically bidding against himself at this point and he is a big loser for offering up as much as he is. We are going to get totally hosed if this trade goes down. Please Cleveland take the LA offer because this is a terrible trade for the Crew. Green and Cain and to a certain extent LaPorta are also incredibly blocked from getting to Big Leagues, we certainly can't assume Fielder will get traded. At some point you only need a certain number of prospects and right now we have an over abundance of corner outfield types. We already have stalwarts in Hart and Braun in the OF so we just don't have room in the next 2-3 years for all of these guys. So why not take a chance, do the CC trade, get the picks and start a whole new crop for when we start to lose the guys in Milwaukee? This seems like a perfect opportunity to take a gamble to me because the Brewers can certainly afford it prospect wise
  6. I am going around to various message boards and it bothers me that fans of other teams think we would be mortgaging our future if we trade away some prospects. Do they realize we just had 6 tops picks in this draft, would have 5 top picks next year nad still have Gamel, Jeffress, Escobar, Salome, Brantley, LuCroy, and all of this years draft picks. No matter who we give up we are most certianly not mortgaging our future. There are only so many spots available on the Major League roster so clearly not all these prospects we have are going to be able to pay for the Brewers so why not get 2 1/2 months of CC and make a strong push for the playoffs. We are only 1 out now for gosh sakes, and we would be adding a Cy Young calibur pitcher, we would be the odds on favorite to win the WC and perhaps the Central
  7. The Dbacks are bad, really bad. 2004 Brewers bad. I know the team has some talent but holy molies.
  8. If the Crew stays in the hunt their is absolutely no way they would ever shut down Parra. They are going to be taking a huge gamble but they will never do that. I can't imagine the nightmare to be caused if they shut down their 2nd best pitcher in the middle of a pennant race
  9. I loved the Seattle team, Kemp, Payton, McMillan, Detlef Schrempf, I think Ervin "Not Magic" Johnson was on that team as well.
  10. We should drop Bush to the 18th spot. Just stretch DeFelice out and stick him in the 5th spot until we make a trade for someone. Bush could be our backup bullpen catcher, after all he was a catcher in college.
  11. I am pretty sure "Milkshake" should be ranked up their prett far But yeah "I kissed a girl" is pretty awful to. I guess I don't like any modern music. I am a huge oldies fan, nothing beats the Beatles or CCR among others,
  12. I may be an idiot but how can you have a BA higher than your BABIP? Do HR's not counrt as a Ball in Play or what? I am sorry if I am a moron
  13. I am venting because if we hadn't scored in the 9th, Ned had Mota up in the bullpen. Mota would not be my first choice for a man to get the game to extra innings. I am amazed that we are guaranteed a .500 road trip because Braun, Fielder, Hall, and Branyan all decided to suck for the entire road trip. That is a silver lining I suppose but wecan't continue to play like this and expect to keep winning. My last vent - Is it just me or is Jim Edmonds that King of the Wall Scraper? The guy routinely hits the ball about a foot farther than he has to for a HR.
  14. If no one remembers, Felix was a guest of the Brewers on June 15th via the Make-A-Wish foundation. He was 8 years old, he passed away early Tuesday of cancer. It certainly is hard to see any young child pass away but I am happy that he was able to have the experience he had with the Brewers. He was on with Uecker for a couple innings I believe, the conversation was kind of awkward with Uecker but I am sure Felix was thrilled. I believe it was mentioned that Uecker's daughter was his teacher at school as well.
  15. Growing up Seattle was always my 2nd favorite team behind the Bucks, For some ungodly reason I had a major mancrush on Shawn Kemp. I still have at least 30 of his cards. They are pretty worthless now, I don't really know why I keep them. I disliked Seattle after the Bucks traded Allen. Man was that a god awful trade.
  16. I now understand why we got Mota for Estrada. We are getting what we paid for. I just really hope Ned isn't duped into believing that Mota wasn't that bad last night because he only gave up one run. He theoretically could have given up 4 without recording an out. He got lucky plain and simple. Shouse and Riske should have the 8th inning IMO with Villy and Stetter as the primary 7th inning guys
  17. Escobar hasn't played a day of 2nd in his life right? I sure as heck don't want Hall playing every day at 2nd. I would be less than thrilled to see this scenario play out. Escobar would be skipping AAA entirely and moving to a new position. That would be a recipe for disaster IMO. Besides why would we want to move a potential gold glover to a new position. A Weeks trade just doesn't make any sense to me at all
  18. Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I'll 3rd that motion. I used to get made fun of unmercifully because I wouldn't drink beer at parties, I'd always just drink hard liqour or on occasion some type of malt beverage. Is Smirnoff's really that unmanly?
  19. How exactly do you fracture a testicle? I always thought it would just pop or split in 1/2 something weird like that. Either way I amazed Snyder actually stay in the game for a little after that injury
  20. If we traded Weeks who the heck would play 2nd. a Dillounsell platoon? No Thank You. I also strongly object ot trading JJ Hardy, lets talk again when he is not on fire. I would do without hesitation a LaPorta, Hammond, Gwynn Jr deal. Or perhaps LaPorta, Salome/LuCroy (Which ever the club is "lower" on), and Hammond/or other mid level pitching prospect for CC and Perez/Betancourt
  21. I would just assume that if we want to do this deal that we do it ASAP, get as many starts out of CC as possible. I think LaPorta, Salome, Pena, and maybe one more would get it done EDIT: and if at all possible include Rafael Perez in the deal. Heck maybe we could throw in Gagne and they could get an extra draft pick out of the deal. I thought I heard Gagne would most likely be a a Type B. We could even pick up some salary to sweeten the deal
  22. Because of my lack of memory past the last 2 days I will predict 0-27. Our last two games have been awful leading us into a never ending spiral of sucktitude. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Corey Hart is a jerk. I told him to hit a HR once and he didn't. Thats proof he doesn't care about me or Milwaukee. All he cares about is what is on the spread after the game, because it seems to me that he is atleast 30 pounds heavier than last year, he might be pushing 200 pounds now.
  24. I am pretty sure I would do Prince for Felix straight up, heck I would throw in LuCroy or Salome just to get the deal done.
