I know a player's stock can rise and fall, but what took you so long to catch on? Paul Morgan Salisbury, Conn. Paul has a particular interest in Hewitt because he's an assistant coach at the Salisbury (Conn.) School, where Hewitt stars as a shortstop. Hewitt is one of the more intriguing players in the 2008 draft, because he's not only the best pure athlete available, but he's also the ultimate high-risk, high-reward talent in this class. Thus there's some difference between how we regard him as a prospect and where he might go in the draft. Hewitt's athleticism stood out on the showcase circuit last summer, but his performance didn't. As a result, he didn't make our preseason Top 100 High School Prospects list . And though he has plenty of helium, Hewitt has yet to appear on our Draft Tracker. Hewitt's power potential, speed, arm strength and overall athleticism are all tantalizing. At the same time, he's also extremely raw offensively and will have to move off of shortstop. As one front-office executive put it, "He has first-round tools. But he's not a very good player yet, and he will need some time." When we release our Top 200 Draft Prospects later this week, you'll see that Hewitt didn't rank among the first 30 players. Yet he has a strong chance of going in the first 30 picks. I projected him to go 24th overall to the Phillies, and the Brewers (No. 16), Cubs (No. 19) and Rockies (No. 25) have shown varying degrees of interest.

Normally Haudricourt doesn't even acknowledge that bolgs even exist. Now he posts about some rondom blog from a guy he doesn't know? Sounds fishy to me. Cripes Tom refuses to blog about random trade rumors unless he has talked to Doug frist, why the heck would he even mention this if he didn't think it might be a possibility. I wouldn't mind Krembas, but I think we need a non-players coach out there. But I don't really know Kremblas' style at all. Preferably I would like someone who can manage a bullpen and isn't afrid to rip into his players or just bench them if they aren't performing or aren't giving 100% effort.

I think it is a safe bet that Braun would have gotten a heck of a lot more than $7M in his first arby year. If Howard got $10 million this year, I think Braun would get at least 9 million 3 years from now, probably more (pared back long quote --1992)

I do not think Prince will be publicly or privately upset. The option is there for him and the only time he has been upset has been preseason, which is not uncommon for professional athletes......ala Brian Urlacher, Sterling Sharpe, Geoff Jenkins, etc. Once the regular season starts it is all business. Well if he continues to play well below expectation this year he might become more inclined to have a sudden change of heart.

Braun to sign record deal By Tom Haudricourt Thursday, May 15 2008, 08:18 AM The Milwaukee Brewers will announce this morning that leftfielder Ryan Braun has agreed to a seven-year contract extension that will be a record in terms of both length and money for the team and the industry. The Brewers have called a 10 a.m. press conference at Miller Park to make "a major baseball announcement." Braun's agent, Nez Balelo, was contacted en route to Milwaukee this morning but said he could reveal no details prior to the club's announcement. Knowing the history of Balelo and his agency, CAA, the contract can be expected to far exceed the six-year, $31 millon deal that Colorado gave shortstop Troy Tulowitzki earlier this year. Tulowitzki was the runner-up to Braun for National League rookie of the year in 2007 and has more service time than Braun. Braun's deal is expected to surpass the largest contract in club history -- the $42 million the Brewers gave free-agent pitcher Jeff Suppan for four years prior to the 2007 season. By giving Braun a seven-year extension beyond this year, the Brewers would buy out Braun's first year of free agency. Team owner Mark Attanasio said earlier this year it would make no sense to do long-term deals with any of the club's younger stars without buying out at least a year of free agency. Because Braun played only four months in the majors last year, he has three more years to go to be eligible for salary arbitration. Then, he would need three more years before qualifying for free agency after the 2013 season. Braun, 24, batted .324 with 34 home runs and 97 RBI in only 113 games last year to earn NL rookie of the year honors. His .634 slugging percentage was the highest for a rookie in major league history. Braun moved from third base to left field this spring. The club has engaged in negotiations with both Braun and first baseman Prince Fielder, and has its first big breakthrough in trying to tie up their young talent for years to come.

I am under the impression that you couldnt bring Parra up that quickly. Absent of an injury (Like the Gallardo.Bush situation) we couldn't bring Parra back up until at least 10 days. So you couldnt send him down Thursday and bring him back up Sunday, the following Sunday yes but not the immediate Sunday

I would give all the SP one more start through the rotation. I would give Hall the entire Dodgers series off and start Dillon. I am with the group regarding Rickie. His BABIP is incredibly low right now, get that anywhere near at least 2.60-.270 and his OBP all of a sudden is very good. All the other hitters appear to be turning a corner. As far as the bullpen goes, I think I like what they did last night. I am not sure I would be comfortable with Mota closing. I would also be fine with Riske. I don't think any changes will be made to the batting order but I was contemplating that effects of switching Hart and Cameron in the order.

I will be in attendance for the first time this year tommorrow. This game certainly makes me a little more optimistic. Hopefully I will get to see Benny break the all time Brewers strikeout record. It is nice to like baseball again. Also please please let this be a sign of things to come for Rickie Weeks. And please start playin Joe Dillon at 3rd once in a while.

I went with TaxAct and I got my $600 today. I was expecting $1,200 since I am married but after checking the IRS website, I don't believe we have a high enough tax liability to qaulify for the $1,200. I'll take it though, put it right into my saving so my wife and I can get a house next year. Come on home prices, keep falling!!!!!!

Let me preface this by saying I really didn't research this at all and is based more on gut feeling than anything. So if anyone comes up with some stats to refute this that is fine. Is it just me that both our pitchers and hitter are lousy at making mid-game adjustments. Our SP continually get rocked once they get to the 3rd time through the order, so it would seem the opposing hitter is making an adjustment and our pitcher isn't changing it up at all. It also seems like our offense does the same thing. A pitcher may be pitching us a certain way but we don't make adjustments to it at all. Example: Pretty much everyone pitches us on the outer half of the plate but it seems we still try to pull everything. Is it the players, is it the coaches or am I just completely off my rocker and I just don't know what the heck I am talking about?
